Well, they aren't in every game but they have been put in quite a few. They show up in the games after FF6. The story behind them is that they are a homage to the Star Wars characters Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilles. They are the two fighters that help Luke destroy the Deathstar.
They usually end up being soldiers, or other henchmen. In FF6 they were both generic soldiers. They were in Tactics but renamed as Viggs and some other weird name. In FFVIII the were soldiers that you fought during the game. In FFIX they were part of Zidane's thieving Troupe. In FFX and FFX-2 they were both guards at the Blitzball stadium and you could put them on your team after recruiting them. Also in FFXii they show up again as Arcadian guards but with acronym names of Gibbs and Deweg. The people down at Square Co. use their names in many different games, like how they even show up in Kingdom Hearts as Storekeepers.

Yup. They were also in Chrono Trigger and Chocobo's Dungeon 2, I believe. I'm also fairly sure that they're in Tactics Advance, but there's only a mention or two... Maybe you missed it?
I always thought that in VIII, Watts and Zone could have been Biggs and Wedge too, but I really liked them in VIII anyway. [/random]

To be honestly I only seen them in VII, and VIII. Never saw them in X no matter how much I play it. Maybe I just miss them or something.

If I remember correctly, they are in FFTA. The kids you 'fight' at the very beginning of the story are named Biggs, Wedge, and Jesse. You later fight them for real, only as zombies, and there is no special mention that they used to Mewt's antagonizers.
As for recuiting Wedge and Biggs for blitzball, Wedge is one of the best characters you can get.

loren_aries I could swear they were also the magitech soldiers that were with Terra at the begining of FF3 american release FF3 in america was actually FF6. Like he said everything after 6 has them or a variation of them in it. Since Square didnt release the real FF3, 4 or 5 till the late Playstation years, just to keep the squence going they redubbed FF6, FF3 so american fans would not be confused.

I found biggs and wedge in FFXI recently too. They were pretty hard to find actually... I'll leave the surprise for anyone else who wants to find them.
