His eyes were closed though he sat in an upright fashion, the sun kissing his pale fur. It was good being mostly white the sun often fled in the other direction when it rolled against his fur. That far from meant he didn't need to get out of the sun at the suns zenith but once it had past he was able to sit comfortably and enjoy the suns warm soothing rays on his fur. It was nice to get out of the cool stone den and let the sun chase away the chill of sleep.

Golden eyes opened slowly and he looked down towards the den. He had spent a gopod few days in his old family den with another. He was glad that Bem had decided not to move on so quickly. She had stayed with him while he reminised and chatted. It was nice to have conversation again to enjoy anothers company. He certainly enjoyed Bems company more and more with each passing day, just thinking her name made his heart skip a beat.

If he was starting to have deep feelings for this female it wouldn't be long before he told her so, he was so enjoying having her beside him, it was like a breath of fresh air on a steaming savannah day.

Said female exited the cave just then, as if cued. She stretched, her silver-blue curls glinting in the sun. Bem flipped the curls out of her face. It was her trademark, practically. She liked her pelt well enough, but the hair did get in her eyes. She stood and glanced around, her gaze easily landing on the white male. She loped over to sit beside him.

"G'morning Horatio," she greeted him with a grin. She glanced around thoughtfully.

"It's going to be another hot one," she remarked unnecessarily. The sun beat down, pleasantly at the moment, but there was little breeze that day.

She closed her eyes, enjoying the bright day. She peeked an eye out and glanced over at Horatio. It had been great, the last few days. She found herself feeling closer and closer to the quiet male. He was kind, and a great listener. Not to mention charming. She grinned as she thought of that first night they had met.

The grin faded slightly, though. What was next? She didn't want to impose on Horatio, and he had said that this wasn't his permanent home. He wandered mainly, like herself.

She sighed quietly. Recently she had found herself longing for a permanent residence. With others. She loved being with Horatio, but she enjoyed company and liked the idea of a large group.

She shook her head, sweeping the thoughts out of the way for now.

"So, any plans for today?"

His gaze didn't leave the gently moving savannah for a long quiet moment. He seemed deep in thought his golden yellow eyes curiously set. Taking a gentle breath he turned his gaze on the silvery blue female. He loved the way she moved, how she always had to blow that frisky curl of hair form her eyes. He almost laughed but realsied it would be completely otu of context so simply smiled, the smile barely moveing his lips.

"Not particularily." He whispers taking a gentle breath which hummed through his teeth. "I wish to ask you something though." A brow raised then, a curious glint in those sweetly passionate eyes.

"It's been a long time since this place has been occupied, I would consider staying here if another would care to stay with me." He let more of a smile slip over his muzzle then it was a round about way of asking her to stay, he knew, but it was the only way he knew how to word a question.

Bem was surprised. Not that he had asked her; she had been hoping that he would. She was just taken slightly aback at how plainly he had said it. If anything, that convinced Bem that Horatio must have had feelings for her as well. Horatio had a way with words and phrases, and for him to speak it so plainly...

She found herself blushing, to her slight dismay. She cleared her throat a few times before speaking.

"And.... if this certain someone were to stay. How would you... feel about that?" she asked, just barely meeting his gaze.

She felt embarrassed. She was normally very well composed with her words and her actions. Here she was stumbling like a pup with her first crush.

The golden eyed male raised a brow as she spoke, he couldn't help but let a little chuckle roll over his lips as she flushed, the deep red showing beneath her fur. "I think I would feel very greatful, I have missed being with others. Dogs just arn't meant to be alone." He paused for a moment and rolled his shoulders "I think, that you should stay Bem, It would make me happy and perhaps you would share this glee?"

His brow furrowed, he felt sort of foolish trying to speak so plainly to the pretty female, he really wasn't used to putting his feelings on a big ol' platter before soemone else. He reminded himself that Bem was very worth it.

"It's been a wonderful couple of days." he whispers his ears flattening almost shyly against his head though he never removed his eyes from ehr gaze.

Bem thought for a moment, still blushing, before she sat up suddenly and looked square at Horatio. It was almost as if something had clicked internally. Still feeling a bit shy, she made a bold move. Grinning, she stood, and walked over to Horatio. She licked his cheek, the first really close gesture she had made.

"I'd love to stay. With you. It has been wonderful. I'd er, still like to travel, if you're up for it every once in a while."

She smiled sheepishly, realizing how bold she'd just been. But he had been completely honest with her. She should return the favor. She sat again, curling her hail around her.

Horatio looked a little taken aback by her 'kiss' but he smiled nd cleared his throat before speaking again. "Itchy feet never stop itching." He chuckles leaning forwards to nudge her cheek in an affectionate sort of way, he didn't want ehr to think the lick was unappreciated after all. It was wonderful to feel so close to someone. It had been such a long time since he had been clsoe to anyone.

"I'm glad you wish to stay though." His tail wagged gently his voice never changing tone or pitch, though his eyes showed an extatic emotion.

he tilted his head away from her then, his gaze returning to the savannah, "this place deserves to be inhabited."

Bem smiled, her heart felt light has a feather. She glanced around her at the savanna. It was indeed a perfect spot. The rock formation let one see for a good distance. There were trees to provide shade, and water wasn't too far away. It was a perfect place to settle down.

She felt even happier that Horatio understood her need to travel, and though his pitch never changed, she could tell he was delighted she was staying. It was great to feel wanted. She returned his affectionate nudge.

Things were looking better and better. She nodded at his words.
"This spot is perfect. I'm glad I managed to stumble across it."

The male dogs muzzle spread in a satisfied grin his tail giving a gentle wag, he took a gentle breath before turning back to Bem happily. "Yes, well this spot certainly appreciates having someone else beside me in it." He chuckles and stands slowly shaking his fur to rid himself of the dust and aches which settled from sitting for so long.

"Would you like to have a brisque trot to the watering hole before the sun gets too high and we are forced inside again?" A slight smirk lifted his lips then, he meant a little race between them, just for fun but Bem would understand, she always understood.

Bem smirked, her heart quickening its pace. Her tail wagged excitedly, but she forced on her face a superior look. Her eyes glinted with merriment and amusement.

"A challenge, eh? Are you sure you can keep up with me? I'm known for my speed. I am a legend in some parts."

She spoke with mock seriousness before stretching. She shook her hair out of her face and grinned again. She was speedy. She wasn't the best hunter when it came to large game. She didn't have the size or the strength to bring something down. But she did have the speed needed to round up fast prey. She didn't know how fast Horatio was. They had never raced. Well, it's always good to learn something new about those you are with.

"Ready? On the count of three, then," she intoned, her eyes still glinting. She crouched, ready to run, knowing Horatio would do the same.

"One...... two....... THREE!"

With that, she launched her body across the savanna, truly grateful that she had at least memorized the route to the watering hole.

The large male smiled. He wasn't the best at raceing and Bem was far more wippy than he, he could really be classed as quite stocky really which added to his size. His tail gave, in very quick sucession a few gleeful wags as he watched her ready. He had never really raced for fun, running was reserved for hunting but he had taken on this little challange now and he wasn't about to shirk on it.

Stretching his thick tight mucles he waited for Bem to sound the go. She shot off like a small silvery bolt of lightning and he knew full well before he even started he was beaten. Still he raced off after her soon eating up the distance between them with his wide wolf like lope.

His nose grazed her hind quarters and he smiled, he wasn't trying to be a distraction, he simply wished her to know he was behind her, all the way.

Bem jumped when she felt a touch on her hindquarters, losing only a little speed before she recovered. She laughed gleefully and slowed as they approached the watering hole. It was normally a pleasant walk there, but the quick sprint had eaten up the trip.

She grinned at Horatio, with no trace of smugness. She didn't care if she had won. She would have been fine with losing. It was the company she enjoyed, the fun that made her heart race as fast as her feet had just been.

She turned her head skyward and thanked the 'powers that be' for delivering her to Horatio. Be it fate, or a mere coincidence, she felt thanks were in order. She had never felt this close to anyone before. He brought out the best in her, and for that she was eternally grateful.

Speaking of grateful, she was happy to see the cool water of the watering hole, and took a long drink before turning to Horatio. She was panting, both from the run and the thrill.

"Now that was fun!"

The big male slowed beside her a smile tracing his maw as he lowered his head to the water and drank deeply his soft pink tongue lapping up the cool much needed waters. Lifting his head he lapped the water from his pale maw and stretched "Yes, that was indeed quite a run." His golden eyes glimmered and he stretched out his limbs, he didn't want to seem exhausted but the heat of the savanna could make anyone pant.

He spent a moment capturing his breath then and shook his coat out before looking to the water with a grin. He chuckled and splashed in to the water covering not only himself but Bem too in the cool, refreshing waters. He was quick to step out from the edge though. it was all well and good taking a quick splash but staying in the water was dangerous.

Letting a yawn trace his maw he nudged the curly haired female ont he shoulder. "Perhaps a nap here is in order?" He raised a brow curiously, the watering hole was surrounded by spindly trees, they provided plenty of shade.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2008 8:03 pm

Bem laughed, her silver eyes twinkling with mirth beneath her soaked curls. She shook herself dry and flicked her hair out of her face.

"That's one way to cool off," she chuckled. She yawned too, and nodded at Horatio.

"A nap sounds fantastic," she said, looking fondly at one of the trees, whose branches bent low, offering a wide spot of shade, perfect for two dogs of their size. She made her way over and settled just to one side of the center of the shade, hoping Horatio would catch the hint and settle close to her.

She rested her head on one paw and smiled up at Horatio, sleep pulling at the corners of her eyes. She yawned again, stretched, and settled herself comfortably.

Horatio paused though only for a moment to contemplate what she wished of him. His long bushy tail wagegd though and he padded up to the female settling down beside her. He lay upright for a long moment his paws in a very solid possition, his gaze filtering the savannah. Once satisfied that there was no danger present a wide yawn rolled over his pale maw.

"Sleep well." He whispers settling his chin down on his paws his nose very close to Bem's flanks.
