When making a journal you can be as creative as you wish. Journals are so others (and sometimes you), can know more about your pets personality. Also if there are any little details about your pets you might want others to know.
A few good things to include are:
Family Trees (These are highly recommended.)
The name
Nick names
Breeding prefrences
Parents
Mate
Personality
History etc.
