"I could tell you a story ... what sort would you like?" He tilted his head slightly as he thought about all the different stories he'd come up with or learned that he could share with her. He wasn't sure all what she'd like but he figured he could come up with something.
"Something about the sea? or the snow?"

"Something..." She paused for a moment as she closed her eyes, tilting her head towards the soft sea breeze that tugged at strands of her mane. Now that she was here her feathers would carry the scent of the sea for a while as well... Even after they parted ways she would have something to remind her of Mordecai.
"... Tell me a story of the sea."

He nodded and after a moment's thought to decide on what story he started telling her a tale that his grandmother had told him. It was about those things called the wolves of the sea. Great black and white beasts that if you believed how grandmother told it had come from the wolves on land.

She shifted closer to him as he told his story, eyes opening after a moment so that she could scan the waves to see if there would truly be any traces of these creatures roaming the sea before her. When she didn't see anything she relaxed, listening to the rest of his story. She enjoyed the sound of his voice...

When he finished the story he looked out at the waves himself. "I've never seen one ... grandma says she did once but i don't know if i believe her." He had seen some strange things and Ela had told him about the creature she'd met so it wasn't all that odd that there'd be wolves out there in the ocean.

"I... Don't know if I would want to see them. I have seen wolves in the forest once and that was frightening enough." She had stayed close to her mother and father at that point and it had seemed as if the wolves were just passing by and not at all interested in them.
"I bet... That you aren't afraid of anything..."

"Everyone is afraid of something." he didn't fear the sea creatures though. His grandmother told him that they couldn't get far enough up on the beach to bother thinking he'd be a good meal. "Fear keeps us alive. If there was no fear no one would be smart enough to not get in trouble"

She thought on that for a moment, listening to the wisdom of the words... It almost sounded like something that her father would say. "What... What are you afraid of then, Mordecai?"

"Loosing everyone." He would hate to be alone out there. He tried to keep in touch with most of his family so that he didn't have to worry about ever being alone.

"That... Would be terrible." She nodded slowly. She couldn't imagine what a world would be like without everyone in it... And she really wasn't sure that she wanted to let her thoughts drift on towards that. Life was beautiful the way it was.
"As long as there is always a home to go back to along with family and friends... You won't ever have to worry about being alone, Mordecai."

"There is still fear that it could all vanish." He didn't truly thing it was but on some nights when he was alone the thought wandered into his mind. It wasn't always easy to tell yourself things you know were true and keep yourself convinced of it.

"Maybe..." She paused for a moment as she brushed her cheek against his neck, nestling her head carefully beneath his chin. "Maybe you just need a friend by your side reminding you that there's something there still."

"That would be nice." He rested his head against hers for a moment. "Do you want to be that friend? I'd like it if you were around more often" He like it when she was around so far so having her around more could only make it better.

She pulled her head back from beneath his so that she could look up to him for a moment before carefully sliding it back into place. "Only... If you will promise to be that friend for me in return. I think... I would miss you even more if you went away again."

He nodded slightly knowing she'd be able to feel it. "Friends always have to stick by friends." It would be nice to have a friend he could be around when he was wandering away from family.
"Are you sure .... your mother won't worry?" If she spent more time with him then her family might start to think something was wrong.
