I was wondering if there was any Biblical evidence that supported the theory that you can be saved after physical death. For example, your spirit being given the choice to accept Christ or not. Is there any Scripture for or against this?

I dunno...That's a good question.
Lazarus did in a way, didn't he? Sort-of-maybe-ish? I could be wrong.
Lazarus is such a cool name...

Hmm. Sounds a bit like purgatory... John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 2 Cor. 6:2 For he says, "In the time of my favour I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation. Seems when people are absolutely dead, there's not much room for salvation after the point. Imo, I'd rather be safe and saved now. It's a lot less worrying, at least.

Jesus hadn't yet ascended into heaven when Lazarus was raised from the dead. I don't believe that his case would apply.

sooooo, it's better to be saved before you die, I know, but is it possible to saved after death. Like I've kind of imagined that your spirit would ascend to some spirit-ly place and God would be there, ready to judge you, and he'd be like "Well, according to the laws of everything, you deserve to go to Hell, but there's this guy named Jesus, and he wants to pay your debt for you. Will you let him?"

Because any input from the defendant then would be pressured by his/her current status. It wouldn't be fair to let someone be forced into choosing Heaven when other people have done it out of their own unbiased choice.

These jokes are hilarious and terrible. I'm laughing despite the fact that my new stepmom (as of last weekend) is a lawyer. sweatdrop
I'll have to do some research on this and see if there are any verses that support this idea. I know there is a verse that says something about preaching the Gospel to the dead, but that might mean the spiritually dead rather than the physically dead. confused

((*waves* Hey guys. Sorry it's been while. sweatdrop ))
Anyhoo... Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything in the Bible that mentions being saved after death. Most of the passages are along the lines of "beware the physical death but fear the spiritual death." The only thing that even remotely relates (at this particular moment) is after Jesus sets up his kingdom and Satan is allowed free roam again for a thousand years. Now, given that it's at the end of the great war between heaven and hell, are the people there newborns and fresh souls that are being tempted, or is it one last chance for EVERY soul to decide before they're cast into the eternal fire?
