ninja For the benefit of Mr. Kite...

I have a question, and instead of posting in the Entertainment forum or something and get a bunch of impersonal responses...I wanna ask you guys.
I just got a Wii, and I just got it online. However, now whenever I turn the console off, the light is orange instead of red. What does that mean? gonk
Is it bad? Or good? ><;;

Orange means it's on standby. It connects to the internet and will light up when you get mail, and update messages.

Red means it's not doing anything except lighting up that light.

Orange = Good. Not Bad.

Orange is standby, as Shoy said. It slightly uses power like that and can make the system get warm sometimes. If you wanna be on the safe side, hold the power button in for a couple of seconds and it will turn red, meaning its all the way off. You wont get the standby features, but it'll save a lil bit of power and keep the wii from burning up. I would suggest giving the wii a break every so often with said method, as a safety measure.

Okay. ><;;
I was worried that it meant that there was still something on. xD!!
So now I have another question.
You said it lights up when I have messages, right?
Is that why the Wii started spazzing and the blue disc holder was flashing? xD;;
I freaked out because I thought that something happened.

Okay, thanks Roy~
That's what I was wondering.
I don't want it on all the time.
If I check my messages every day anyways...is it useless to have it on standby at all then?

Standby is convient if you don't think you'll be around to have the wii on to get messages, though I think once you turn your wii on and have the net connected, you'll get every message that was sent. Though you have to check previous days and see if any pops up if you don't check often.

Though I find standby a little inconvient with how it gets warm, though that just be my paranoia as well. I say just do what makes you feel most comfortable. Standby is ok but I prefer to turn it off all the way, like how with the ps2 I flip the switches on the back.

-edit- oh and the blue disc tray means the wii is receiving data. You can turn that off in the wii system settings if you want.

I like the blue glow. The one thing I don't like is when I recieve mail at 5 AM, and I'm trying to sleep, and a blue glow wakes me up. rofl.

My Wii's never had a problem with being on standby. o3o

Hmm, alright. I think that during the day I'll keep it on standby, but at night I'll turn it off.
It's in the living room, so the last thing I need is for my dad to walk by it at 2 in the morning and think something is wrong with the system. xD!!
