Bright golden irises surveyed the snowy landscape as the large, fiery stallion made his way through the cold powder. Calm and composed though he was, Nanaki couldn't deny that there was a slight spring to his step, the beginnings of a smile peeking through the solemn expression he always wore, at the thought of being with his family, together again. Flamed tail twitching back and forth anxiously at the thought, his steps lengthened, though he was almost unaware of the subconscious change in pace.
It had been quite a while since he'd last laid eyes upon his other daughter or his beloved, and it was obvious that he abhorred being away from them for so long, but he had his herd to look after, and he was sure that his mate had friends and loved ones in her own herd as well. His gaze flitted to Aquene briefly, an affectionate smile warming his stoic features for a brief moment before she glanced his way, nodding in return as they both continued onwards.
Aquene rolled her eyes in exasperated amusement as she caught on to the subtle change in pace, lengthening her own steps to match as they trodded through the knee-deep snow. It was freezing, unsurprisingly, but her father's warmth- from his body and his flame- kept her from complaining too much. She was happy at the thought of seeing her mother and sister again, but she supposed it didn't even compare to her father's anxiousness.
Her mind wandered briefly to the thought of her new friend, the part kalona crimson stallion she'd been spending all her time with recently, and a bright smile adorned her ivory maw. Her father must have noticed her faraway look, because when she snapped back to reality, he was eyeing her with an eyebrow lifted, not slowing his pace, and she lifted her own eyebrow at his scrutiny. Let him be suspicious, she wasn't doing anything wrong.
An idle shrug broke the locked gazes as they neared their destination, both sets of amber hues scanning the landscape for the two forms they'd come to see.

Star Catcher had been flying for sometime as she admired the scenery that stretched out below her. Such beautiful colors signaled spring wasn't but a few months away now. Most would find the white blanket here and there bleak and uneventful, but to the pensive mare everything seemed like a dream. An almost painted reality that others overlooked with a turn of their heads or the way they pondered life. She sighed softly spreading her wings further as stepped and glided amongst the gorgeous clouds around her.
Thinking of other things in her flight she pondered her mate and daughters whom she'd not seen in what was to be possible ages by now. Had the time really strewn along without her tentative knowledge she wondered closing her eyes to contemplate a bit more. Perhaps she keep vigil over the ground below, for her heart could seek out the loved ones she held like a precious stone deep in her heart.
It was time to regain what was lost and move onward toward a new path of fate once again. Galloping along the scattered patches of drying snow there came a red hued mare with flecked patterns of golden. Her eyes longing and bright for who couldn't love a day where the sun wasn't too warm and the wind was just right. A perfect setting to simply toss your head and let loose of all inhibitions you kept locked inside on a day to day basis.
Besides her mind currently was resting upon a friend, two if you will practically. A single soul that harbored two souls that fought for domination, though the meeker one she feared would be lost to the survival of the other. Kelva was a dreamer, a fighter, and even deeper she was like a burning flame that flared becoming warm with the passion she gave. She refused to loose one or the other, determined that cause and effect could work to her advantage. If a medium could be reached, there was definitely a way to overcome impending sadness later on.
In any case the reason she ventured out was the need to appreciate her family. She knew her mom was probably airborne, as was her sister most likely. So, Kelva's only idea at the moment was seeking out her father since he'd be closest to where she was heading as strong hooves beat furiously into the ground. She came to a halt as a brief wind tussled through her spiky mane letting similar hued eyes scan the land before her. If anyone could spot and recognize her father it was Kelva. Born of the flames, a warrior at heart with a dreamy outlook, the little red mare knew she'd find him arriving soon.

The light-colored mare was shifting uncomfortably as she walked beside her father, itching to take to the skies. While she did love her family, and was looking forward to visiting them, she was also a free spirit, and liked to simply drift where the wind took her. She'd spent all morning on the ground with Nanaki, and the wind was teasing at her feathers, taunting her to take to the skies.
Aquene's incessant twitching and shifting did not escape Nanaki's notice, and for a moment he was content and amused to simply watch her shift in her restlessness, until a low chuckle rose in his throat. He knew she itched to take to the skies- she was an a soul that belonged among the clouds, like her mother.
"Go," he murmured laughingly, golden hues dancing in merriment as his daughter's immediately lit at the given permission. He watched her take a step backwards before launching herself into the air and taking off with one single, powerful flap, eyes softening as he noted the resemblances between her and her mother. It had been too long, truly.
Molten amber hues fell from the petite ascending form above his head to settle upon one approaching from the ground, and a proud smile graced his maw as he recognized his fiery daughter Kelva. Aquene was her mother in every way that Kelva took after him, and he couldn't have been more proud.
"Kelva!" he called across the snow-covered field, his smile tender and affectionate as it usually was when it came to his family.
Ivorn ears twitched down towards her father as she soared higher into the sky, a grin spreading across her muzzle as she heard him call her sister's name. She angled her wings to take her back towards the ground where the two resided, but abruptly, a shadow passed over her, drawing her attention to a mare soaring overhead.
"Mother!" her grin brightened, if possible, wings flapping steadily to keep her in place.

Star Catcher soared as the clouds speckled with periods of rain within brushed by her creating dampness upon her soft fur. She could feel the hints of snow building but even that reminded her of the joyous things the season's brought and gave as glorious gifts. Snow, sunny days, rain, even cold winds were unique in their own way to Star's perception of things.
Her daughter's calling of her name made her ears swivel as her head turned downward, a soft yet placid smile filling her with contentment. "Aquene" she called downward spreading her wings further to float downward like a soft cloud towards her similar daughter whose mane and markings reflected her father. Yet the mare before her once a child was beautiful and full of confidence as she kept balance so smoothly.
Kelva herself couldn't miss a flame that burned intensely as her own blood that traveled with a ferocity in what she firmly believed in. Lifting her head upward she smiled as she responded back, "Hello father! I'll be right there." Picking up speed she pounded downward with her sharp hooves as sods of dirt flew up behind her. Stretching her neck outward she excelled towards her father with utmost stamina before stopping not but a few feet away. Breathing with deepness she walked toward Nanaki with a smile before she nuzzled him.
"Its been a while has it not father?" she asked with smoothness as her long blue tail swayed like water behind her. Glancing upward she now noticed both her mother and sister and pondered, "Looks like we're going to have a family reunion today."
Star descended floating lightly to reach Aquene in midair with a loving nuzzle. But before she would address and find things she had missed, another idea flourished in her mind as her blue irises glistened, "I think its time we had a family get together... don't you Aquene?"
Pushing her wings outward she floated downward till hooves of glistening white touched upon the sleeping terrain. Folding her wings she walked toward her mate and daughter glancing backwards to Aquene to see if she followed.
