 Nituna trotted along the river, watching the water flow in the opposite direction. It was a beautiful day outside. It was starting to warm up just a bit, but the air still had a bite to it, and the wind stung a little. But not enough to upset this happy mare. Though she had started to grow up, there was still a happy little filly inside who loved to run, explore, and make new friends.
As she continued along the riverbank, she heard a splash. She stopped for moment, and looked to the water and saw where something had jumped in, rings flowing outwards in the water. She took a step closer, hoping she could see what it was under the water. Suddenly, a fish jumped right out of the water, almost hitting her in the face. She squealed a tiny bit, pulling her head back, then laughed at herself. How silly she must have looked, screaming at a fish!

 This was, probably, the farthest that she had ever wandered from home. The forest was quiet and things at home were... Tense... Which was strange because it was something that she had never felt before; something that her child-like mind was having trouble processing.
Her body had aged but somewhere along the lines she hadn't quite caught up yet, probably because she had not been forced to as so many were. She was given a chance to enjoy herself and her childhood along with whatever came of it and for that she was glad.
Hearing splashing coming from the direction she'd been heading in she paused, wondering if she truly wanted to wander that far. What was the worst she would find?

Nituna giggled at herself and the fish once more before stepping back out of the water.
She shook the remaining drops off of her feet and ankles and looked around. She thought she had heard something off in the distance, upstream a bit, and tilted her head to the side, trying to listen closer. She didn't hear anything, but was still curious, so she headed off in that direction.

She fluttered down towards the river that seemed to be moving a bit faster now that the sun had warmed things just enough to thaw some of the snow. She smiled as she watched the water dance along stones in its path, shining in the light of the sun as so many things did. It was a beautiful day... A very beautiful day.
Still smiling she turned as if to head back to what she was doing only to find herself looking at the form of someone moving towards her. It seemed to be dark of body and fair of hair; not matching the description of anyone she knew. "Hello! Hellooo!"

Nituna stopped for a moment as she heard somebody calling out. She squinted and could see the figure of what looked like another Soquili a ways down the river. She smiled, her tail swishing behind her.
"Hellooo!! Hold on a sec, and I'll come that way."
She giggled and started moving towards the other mare. Or at least, that's what she sounded like. As she got closer, her smile grew wider. It was another flutter, just like her friend Porsche! Though she looked quite different from her friend, there was no mistaking those butterfly wings.

Her wings twittered slightly as she danced on her hooves, a bright smile curving her oddly 'painted' lips as the other mare approached her. "I thought I heard something by the stream... A biiiig splash... But when I came here there wasn't anything and now there's something!"
Upon realizing that she was rambling she stopped, taking a deep breath to calm herself before smiling once more. "Hello! I'm Inakamono... But my family calls me Ina."

Nituna's eyes widened at the other mare's appearance. She was so beautiful!
"Oh, there was a splash! There was a fish that jumped out of the water and almost hit me in the face! I screamed a little bit, but only because it startled me."
She giggled, more at herself than anything else. She smiled and bowed her head at the other mare.
"Its nice to meet you, Ina. My name is Nituna."

"Ooh! The fish are moving again? That must mean that it is getting warmer... Well, it's obviously getting warmer, but maybe warmer than that. Maybe winter will end and spring will come. I've heard such wonderful things about spring." She let loose a soft, dreamy sigh, closing her eyes as she tilted her head towards the sound of the river's movements.
Waking from her daze at the other mare's name she turned once more, smiling. "Nituna is such a pretty name! It's very nice to meet you, Nituna."

She smiled, listening to Ina as she spoke about the Spring. She had heard wonderful things about the season as well, and couldn't wait until it came!
"So have I! I heard that all kinds of birds come back here, and that a bunch of other animals come out of their homes where they were hiding for the winter. And I've also heard that they have lots of cute babies in the Spring! I can't wait!"
She giggled, her face glowing with happiness. She already was very fond of this mare, and was glad she had met her.

She hadn't heard much about the babies, which was probably something that she was going to have to talk to her mother about out of curiosity... Her father didn't seem like the sort that would enjoy such a conversation, even if he did seem to take joy in life.
"I've heard... That we'll really know when spring is here because the butterflies will have returned." She nodded slowly. She was looking forward to seeing the small creatures with wings like her own, if only so she could observe them and possibly figure out how her own wings might work a bit better. "I wish the winter didn't have to be so cold... But Father says that things need time to sleep long so that they can be born again."

"Ooh, I never heard that about the butterflies. Well, I'll have to keep my eyes open. I've seen a few other Soquili with butterfly wings, like yours, but I haven't seen any butterflies yet."
She smiled, taking some time to look at Ina's wings. They were a different shape and colour than all the others that she had seen. They were so pretty! These wings were a lot different than the wings that her father and sister had. They always had a lot more designs on them, and she absolutely loved them.
"Your wings are so pretty! I really like them! My father and my sister have wings, but they're feathery wings, like birds."

"I met someone once with feathery wings... But it seems like such a long time ago." She sighed almost thoughtfully before shaking her head. "I was so much smaller then... Of course, she was too. I don't think I would reconize her if I saw her today... Things are always changing."
With a little huff she hopped down into the water, splashing a bit before coming up on the other side, turning to look at the other mare. "My mother and brother have wings like me. My sister doesn't... She takes after our father. I think that's why he worries about her more."

She watched as the other mare swam across the water, and tilted her head to the side a bit.
"But why would he be worried about her? Because she can't fly?"
She didn't understand why this would make him worry more. She didn't have wings, and her father and mother treated her the same as he sister, who had wings.

"Maybe... But she moves pretty fast even if she cant fly. I think she runs faster than I fly sometimes..." Then again, she was still a bit shaky on her wings. She was getting better, of course. Practice always helped.
"I think... I think it's more because she reminds him of himself. Father thinks too much." She was pretty sure that she took after him in that aspect as well. Her mother had caught her deep in thought once or twice. "What about your family? Who do you take after?"

She tilter her head at this question, and thought about it for a moment. Really, she didn't take after either one of her parents more than the other.
"Well, my dad is really quiet and can seem mean sometimes, and my mom is quiet and very polite. But I don't really act like either one of them. I don't act like my sister, either. She's very polite like my mom."
She shrugged a bit. Sometimes family dynamics were different. Though Ina's sister took after her father, and Nituna's sister took after their mother, she didn't seem to fit in with either one. Not that it bothered her. She rather liked her personality.
