So it's a new year, and the folks over at ClubSkill.com have compiled a list of what they believe to be the 2008 releases that we should all be looking forward to. The list includes three titles for all 5 current-gen platforms. Below is my take on the list. Please comment. You can read the original article for yourself right here.

Nintendo Wii
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
No More Heroes
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams

For me, Brawl is a no-brainer. If it follows in the footsteps of it's predecessor then it's already set-up to be one of the best games released on any platform this generation.
No More Heroes also looks ready to entertain, and I hope it gets some attention from the broad and casual Wii market. NiGHTS gameplay has always been a bit too trippy and nebulous for me personally, but this game marks a triumphant return of a loved classic. I'm looking forward to seeing what sort of reception this title gets.

Readers' Choice titles:
- Mario Kart Wii
- Sadness

Playstation 3
Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy XIII
Playstation Home

A recent Playstation Magazine article previewed Metal Gear Solid 4 and said it will most likely be the PS3 title for 08, stating that even casual gamers and non-fans of the series would likely end up purchasing it. If I am any indication, this could be true, as I have never purchased any MGS game before, but (with the inclusion of Metal Gear Online) I will probably be in a line for this one. However...
Final Fantasy XIII eclipses just about everything for me. I own a PS3 because of this one series, and it is still the only series of games I have ever bothered placing a preorder for. I won't bother heaping praises on it here, as you all know my stance on this series. mrgreen
I also find the inclusion of Playstation Home in this list a bit surprising, since it is not technically a "game." But when you think about everything Home brings to the table, I feel like this is an appropriate inclusion. Home could very well help bring the PS3 to that "casual market" that the Wii has captured and that the 360 is ignoring.

Readers' Choice titles:
- LittleBigPlanet
- White Knight Chronicles
- Civilization Revolution
- Street Fighter 4*
- Resident Evil 5*
- Enemy Territory: Quake Wars*
- Turok*
- Hail to the Chimp*
- Fallout 3*
- Haze
- Heavy Rain
- EndWar*
- Devil May Cry 4*

Xbox 360
Grand Theft Auto IV*
Army of Two*
Burnout Paradise*

All three of these titles are super-heavy-hitters. Army of Two is bringing back the buddy game, FINALLY. Buddy games were always my favorite when I was kid. I have very fond memories of Contra and Bad Dudes, neither of which were really any good but were still awesome because I could co-op with friends. I'm hoping Army of Two can recapture that (but, of course, still be a good game, not crappy).
Burnout Paradise also looks to be flipping amazing. If the online multiplayer demo I played is any indication, this game looks to be super-addictive and madly entertaining.
However, one GLARING curiosity of this list is the fact that none of these titles are exclusive! How is this possible? Has the 360 already released it's best, and now all that's left are sloppy seconds? Doubtful. I'd like Zombicide or SuperJawes to give us a revised list, please. mrgreen

Readers' Choice titles:
- Halo Wars
- Street Fighter 4*
- Resident Evil 5*
- Enemy Territory: Quake Wars*
- Turok*
- Hail to the Chimp*
- Fallout 3*
- Cry On
- EndWar*
- Devil May Cry 4*

Nintendo DS
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
Dragon Quest IX
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations

While I can't admit to being all that excited about Mario's latest mini-game compilation, the fact that DS owners get the next numbered, official Dragon Quest game is huge, and really shows Square Enix's confidence in the DS and the handheld market in general. Dragon Quest is arguably THE biggest RPG series in Japan, so it only makes sense that they put it on the hottest gaming platform in the country.
Also, how can you go wrong with a new Phoenix Wright game? Even DS naysayers like myself can't help but be intrigued by the unique, quirky, and ultimatelty fun Phoenix Wright series.

Readers' Choice titles:
- Viva Pinata
- Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Playstation Portable
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Patapon
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Now that the PSP has recently seemed to shake-off it's "no good games" sterotype, it seems to really be running on all cylinders, offering more and more and more to it's consumers. God of War is arguably one of Sony's most popular (and critically acclaimed) series, and PSP owners are lucky to have their own installment. I also like that Patapon made it onto this list. I'd like to see the PSP carve out a niche for itself in the Quirky genre with more titles like this one.
And of course.... Crisis Core. The second-biggest reason I bought a PSP. This game can't come out soon enough, as far as I'm concerned. But again, I'll leave my fanboyism at the door. mrgreen

Readers' Choice titles:
- Echochrome
- Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
- Dissidia: Final Fantasy

*multi-console release

Well considering the fact that the PSP is the ONLY Next-gen "consol" I own, I'll focus on it:

YES!!!!!!!!!!
those titles are some I'm reeaalllyyy excited about. Just not in that order. This is my top 5 list

1) God of War: Chains of Olympus
2) Echochrome
3) Patapon
4) Kingdom hearts: Birth By Sleep
5) Dissidia: Final Fantasy (Just cause I wanna kick Sephiroph's a** with Zidane!)

I'm excited about Crisis Core & Secret Agent Clank...but I haven't played a Rachet & Clank game yet and I didn't get that terribly far in FF 7 so I'm not very impatient with those two.

Final Fantansy fighting game?...*Plays some Super Street Fighter II Turbo*

It might be not as good as Melee or even the Capcom vs SNK or Capcom vs Marvel series.

Arvis, you forgot Halo Wars for the 360. How could you forget that? And also, you forgot Resident Evil 5. Don't forget Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Turok on the 360. There's 4 games you forgot to include. Although some of them have PS3 versions, don't expect them until later, and the Xbox 360 versions are always better since they generally have better online capabilities, and a more conventional style of gameplay. And, they're less laggy and glitchy.

Welp. I can say your not going to like some of my choices....

Personal Computer
Spore: What else can I say, Im intrigued about this Civ like game, the fully customizable creatures, the throw-back stages of evolution, the overall quirkyness that this game is promised to bring, not to mention the online capabilities, while small, still show some serious strength in the "Keep me playing" front.
_____________________________________________________________

Nintendo Wii
Mario Kart Wii: It's Mario Kart, it's on the Wii, it has online, it has barrel rolls, it has motobikes. Im sold, a bonus would be the ability to use my own music.

Sadness: The theme of this game has me intrigued, and I really want to see if all that Live Action gameplay show in the trailer was real, in any case, a black n white horror filled Wii game sounds nice, make it silent, insta-buy.

Brawl: I don't really need to post why, but I will post this.
Snake's going down.
_____________________________________________________________

Sony PlayStation3/Microsoft Xbox 360(Multi Console)
Hail To The Chimp: Monkeys? Intrigued. Political Monkeys, count me in on the demo. Fighting Political Monkeys for the title "King Of The Jungle" with a giraffe?
Sold.

Burnout Paradise: This is shaping up to be one of the greatest Burnout titles to date, despite the whining about the free-form gameplay, which is actually pretty nice. That, and barrel rolls are fun.

Grand Theft Auto 4 s**t, I'd buy this game for the soundtrack alone, but the city, story, character development, and other upgrades make this a one to get GTA title.
But the soundtrack has everyone sold already...

Fallout 3:
I've Been waiting for this. All the changes that fans say are not Fallout, I say so what, it looks like fun. The first person/third person battle style, S.P.E.C.I.A.L. refit, the spanking new PipBoy, and some of the new Perks announced, I say to hell with it all, It might not be Fallout, but hell, it'll be fun.
_____________________________________________________________

Sony PlayStation 3(Exclusive)

Haze: Well hell, it's about time we get some more dystopia type shooters with a real time drug system that kicks a** while it kicks your a**. I'm all up for this title. Well, till Timesplitters 4 comes out.....

Heavy Rain: Not much to know on this title, cept the trailer/teaser/tech demo had me stoked for something, and the fact that the guys who made Indigo Prophecy are making it.
_____________________________________________________________

Microsoft Xbox 360(Exclusive)

Halo Wars: No, you're not reading this wrong, Im actually excited for this one, especially since watching a Demo, and seeing a scarab go down, with no Spartans in site. It all looks like it will work well on the 360, and Im not a hard core RTS'r. I wonder what will happen with Spartans.....

Cry On: Make me cry every 15 minuets? Yeah, bring it.
_____________________________________________________________

Sony PlayStation Portable

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep:
Im officially trapped in finding out what exactly the ******** Nobodies are, and this title better answer that. Or else. Sides, I like the card battle system.
_____________________________________________________________

Nintendo DS

Viva Pinata: Oh s**t, Movable shovel. Let the party begin.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days In it for the multiplayer with the Orgy, and more info on Roxas, and the Nobody Complex.

That's pretty much it for me.

I really don't care. Long as it doesn't suck I'll pick it up. I'll master Zindane, MASSACRE Sephiroth. Then post a video of it all over Youtube just to make FF7 fanboys cry. It will amuse me 3nodding

Oh..Well I play a crapload of fighting games. I love em actually, and if this one seems to be good I'll pick it up when I get a PSP. Otherwise I'll stick to my streetfighter games.

I'm just excited that another version of SF II is being made...-.-

That's nothing. The RP will be the biggest one yet. You can shout out things to the enemy. All gang up on one member, make plans, anti-[insert-company] banners posted in the attack posts/sig pro-[insert-company] banners in posts/sig. It's going to be amazing! There can be a thread entitled "Master Chief's hut" and we go in and plow it down. We can defend Reggie's manor, etc. lol

No Little Big Planet?

Have you no ounce of creativity in you? No desire to craft the more brutal exercise in platforming torture sure to drive the less hardcore insane?

I don't know you...

I didn't know the less hardcore existed in the PS3 userbase...

Wow, great reactions, guys. I'm glad so many of you took the time to read that whole diatribe. But I'd like to point out that those games listed are not MY choices for Most Anticipated. They were chosen by the editors at ClubSkill.com and I thought it was an interesting list, so I brought it here with my own personal commentary.
I'll edit the first post to reflect games chosen by you guys. biggrin
Personally, I'm looking forward to EndWar for multi-console, and White Knight Chronicles and Civilization Revolution for PS3.
