The large, braided hair stallion trotted through the small drifts of snow. Though the sun was shining down upon the world, causing the snow to shine a bright white, there was no warmth in its touch. His breath was visible in puffs and his hooves crunched through the icy snow. It was cold - in fact, it was HELLAcold and even Althalus' thick, winter coat was providing little warmth for the afternoon.
It kept the stallion moving, despite wanting to pause for a romp in the snow. Though he was mostly full grown, the stallion still had a penchant for being a playful colt. Though he was more learned on certain aspects of the world, the young brute of a male was still playful and mischievous as ever - it would take a lot to shake him of such a quality and wasn't something he was ever going to lose. Bracing himself as a gust of wind blew powder in to his face and chilled him for the umpteenth time, the stallion picked up his walk in to a gallop.
He didn't want to take a nose dive - certainly not! But, at the same notion he was looking for any sort of wind barrier. A small woods uphead might do the trick, but secretly the stallion wanted nothing more than for the snow and cold to end! The winter land seemed to be endless and eternal, but he knew that wasn't to be. He had heard whisper of greener lands, of endless warmth and sunshine. . . . Now, if only that land would hurry up and make an appearance! Snow was great, but the spring weather was something the male wanted to discover.
((Short'un, sorry! D: My starting posts seem full of fail recently.))

((Hehe, NO worries. xD! Epesi's my favorite to do long posts with, plus she's easy so I'm excited.))

This was the mare's first winter. She was a winter baby herself, yes...but far too young to remember anything...so the wonders of what came with the cold weather were all just another adventure for her. Besides, every season had it's ups and certainly it's downs. She wasn't one to dislike one season because it was cold, and like the rest of them because they were warmer. Nah, winter was by far the prettiest of them all, pure white stretched as far as the eye could see. Even the trees looked like they just showered in snow. The sky was white, being covered in clouds...nah, winter was amazing.
And plus, it kept away most other soquili, so she didn't have to grin and bare the fact that she was different 'in the head' as they'd say. She could act like herself on anyday she wanted too without someone walking up to her and 'commenting'. Ugh, it was just so disrespectful, and it's not as though she minded it so much, but it was getting tiresome having to explain to the ignorant fools that it was rude, and that everyone was themselves, and no one could help it. But it seemed no matter how many times she tried avoiding others, they always seemed to appear. And then she's act all friendly and fun like she was, but then they'd start making fun. It was getting pretty hard to be herself even though the comments went out the window and didn't bother her none, it was just so tiresome.
Regardless, the mare was always up to meeting others. One can never be quite so sure if that other was going to be rude. Heck, Avaru was probably the kindest stallion she never met, and going into the conversation, she could have guessed otherwise.
But at this moment, it was Epesi's time by herself, no siblings, no parents...just her and the snow! Or...rather, the ice. A few days ago, while trotting along on a path, the mare's hoof slipped on a patch of something very shiny, and she fell. Not like it hurt her though, it was a part of nature. How could anything in nature hurt her? It was all a gift, all of it, and whether or not everyone else liked it, she LOVED it. So the ice became her friend, and she discovered a new way to have fun by herself on boring days.
Like today, which would be a perfect example of a boring day. Epesi went in search of a large patch of the ice, and she found one within seconds (who could have thought that a forest would be covered in it on a cold day?? Duhh...) and placed her hoof on it without thinking and slide. She did it again, and again but always caught herself before she fell. Sliding was indeed, the most fun she had for as far back as she could remember.
"Weeeeeeee!" The playful mare shouted, throwing her head up into the air and letting the curls go all over the place. She wasn't one for beauty and didn't honesty care what she looked like. If stallions didn't like her for her, well...screw them.

((Sorry for the delay! My muse has been mighty fickle. ))
It was indeed a bitterly cold day, and the young stallion felt it in his bones. Though his thick, winter coat kept the worst bite of it away, that didn't mean he couldn't occasionally be chilled. Despite the winter air, the young male had found the afternoon to be incredibly pleasant - the snow and ice clung to trees for dear life, and sky was perfectly clear. Sunlight streamed down, but held little warmth within its rays, and the entire world seemed content and at peace. The wind was still, and no birds sang. . . .
Indeed, a blessed silence had overcome the small woodlands, leaving all at rest. That is, until it was broken by an obnoxious screech and laughter! Two orange ears pricked up, causing the red-haired stallion to pause in his silent walk. Weeeeee? It hardly sounded intimidating, and left a curiosity burning deep within his heart. Someone, obviously, was having a grand adventure up ahead, and Althalus wanted to see who and what was the source.
Step by step he approached, his hooves crunching through the snow. What on earth could the stranger be doing to cause such a ruckous? But, the thought had hardly left his brain when he spotted her - a golden touched creature with darker curls and flowing mane. He watched, a smirk crossing his features as she slid across the snow, and his tail swished happily behind him.
Memories of a younger age, not too long ago, when he and another dearest friend slipped and slid across the ice. For a moment his thoughts lingered upon Porsche and he wondered where his foalhood friend might have gotten to - had she grown too? And if so, what might she look like? Bah, pushing such thoughts aside he focused on the rich coloured lady before him. Chuckling, it was with reckless abandon he took a small run down a slope before hopping haphazardly upon the bed of ice. Red tail flowing behind him, braids rattling against his neck, the stallion allowed himself to skid past the mare, silver eyes gleaming in delight.
She seemed to be of playful nature - why shouldn't she want a playmate?

((Hahaha, seems mine has too so no worries.))
This kind of afternoon was perfect indeed. Nothing could make it better, nothing. Except maybe the occassional visit of a small woodland creature because they were a part of nature, but nothing else. Today was absolutely perfect and the mare couldn't ask for anything more. She was by herself (although not for long, much to her upmost pleasure) and the area was quiet. All that could be heard was her own self, which echoed loudly through the trees.
"Whoops." She finally said, after a second burst of laughter flowed through the area. "Hope I didn't bother anyone." She whispered outloud, stopping in her tracks of sliding on the ice. She slide jsut a tad bit further, and caught herself before she fell.
So because her sudden silence, the mare was able to hear, if ever so slightly, the crunch of harded snow on the forest's path. Someone was approaching her, and at a decent speed. Perhaps this someone was anxious? Perhaps her voice had lured it? That was when she saw him. Or rather, she thought it was a him. He slid by her on the ice rather quickly, and she barely had a time to process what she saw. But his coat was a lovely shade of deep red, and orange. Perfect combination! And his mane, boy...that would cause any stupid flirtacious mare to stop and stare.
Epesi laughed when he slid, finding it amusing that someone would just come onto her playing grounds and join her without even a hello, or an invatation. Ha! Maybe this stallion would end up being like her, or...to her fear, maybe he'd be like every other dirty and flirtacious stallion. Ah, well no use judging him just because he decided to have fun! Better to make a first impression, beforehand.
"Oh my goodness! What an excellent slide! I only wish I could use all my bodyweight like that and move faster. Curse the heavens for making me female!" She laughed, and slide towards him. "My name's Epesi, what's yours young stallion?" Hopefully he wouldn't be too awkwarded by her friendliness. Her mind and body ached to speed talk like she normally did, but not right now, no...she'd have to see how he'd respond first.

Althalus' silver eyes twinkled as the young mare made her playful objections to her sex. He spun around to face her, careful of the ice as he lurched forward, coming to a slide closer to her. She truly was lovely for a mare, donned a coat more goldan thant orange, with red-brown and black locks curled within her hair. He especially appreciated the white upon her nose and muzzle, as if she had dipped it within sugar! Ah. . . . mares truly were the luckiest of the genders.
"Ah, m'lady - do not mistreat yourself so swiftly! For though I have body weight, you indeed have a grace I could never account for." A bumbling fool was what he felt like ninety percent of the time - and even if a mare should be so clumsy, regardless how tomboyish and intense they could be, Althalus could not be shaken upon his beliefs. Mares were special, meant to be treasured and worshiped and ultimately adored!
Regardless.
Blowing a few red strands of hair out of his gaze, the stallion smiled up at his newest acquaintance. His red tail swished behind him, and he chuckled, completely at ease and in good spirits. "Tis a pleasure, Epesi, tis truly a pleasure! I'm Althalus - and I must offer my apologies for so rudely interrupting your game."
