um on advent children i just noticed well both me and this boy who likes me noticed the fact that barret seems awfully stereo typical voice wise in both dubbings ?

don't get your hopes up with western dubbs they tend to be a huge let down and very annoying to listen to, simply watch the DVD with Japanese audio and English subtitles.
lastly, yeah Barret is indeed stereo typical.

i pose GamesTesterJan but japanese was how i saw it first and yeah .. idn tho besides being duffy some times ..i mean he never had "bling " and mabye having a gun being a arm some how ..idn even know where.. i think all im saying is to me it made about as much sense as kait sith having a scotish acent in the american dub or why sepharoth ever had one wing in the first place ?

THe creators said that they tried as hard as they could to make barret the least like Mr. T as he could. You're not the first to notice his dub being like Mr. T. Not bye a long shot.
Cait Sith has a scottish accent because Reeve is weird. Deal with it xP
And Sephiroth isn't called the "One Winged Angel" for nothing!!

If your trying to grasp why Sephiroth would have one wing in the first place my only guess is that seen as Jenova had wings and Sephiroth was basically half human he only developed one.

Sephiroth is a very deep character by name the Sephiroth refers to the sepheric system which is the 10 alignments of god and Jenova is refers to as the new god which uses the Sephiroth to gain power. I believe they are from kabbalah which is a religion.
Sephiroth's music theme is the one winged angle, he does have one black wing as for why there is some reason which is explained in Crises core on the psp Gackt/G/Genises has another black wing not to mention Zack seems to have one white wing!

 All of the voices were pretty stereo-typical.
Aeris sounded overly sweet.
Cloud sounded like he was whining every time he spoke.
Vincent sounded too deep.
Barret sounded like he was gonna bust a cap in "yo a**".
That's America for you.
Not sure why they made Genesis sound like a fawking vampire, though.

I agree, it does sound a little stereotyped. I don't think it takes too much from the movie though. ^^;

I think I'm the only one here who is not overly critical of the voices in the movie. I don't think any of them bothered me except maybe Aeris bieng waay to soft mayhaps. but I liked it still nonethless. Yes I ma alone in here in the aspect fo not hating the vpoices really in about any dubs. :/

I tent to hat most western dubs for anything from Final Fantasy, Naruto, anime, games and just in general anything related to J culture is dubbed badly I think their doing it on purpose.

Well you have two options in Western Dubbing from the original. Its either going to be recorded with a slightly altered English script so it still gets the point across without changing the animation though it will seem a bit off with mouth movements to words; or the entire feature is going to have to be re-animated to fit the recording theyre trying to sell. English dubs are FAR simpler when you just have to take out the sound and replace it with new sound instead of re-animating an entire feature or show or whatever. People may not like it, but its the quickest way to get it into our hands and money into their pockets.
