Each of us, no matter how strong we are in what we practice, are subject to attacks. It's entirely possible and I stress the point we each learn to properly defend ourselves from attacks.

Recently, a friend of mine was "attacked." Names won't be mentioned for sensitivity reasons. I use the term attacked loosely because, as to its appearance, it may not seem like an attack but by all regards it was. She was at a party for New Years, and was offered a backrub to relax. As the backrub began, she was drained of a large amount of energy that made her unable to move. After which, a series of questions came that she had no recollection to a number of which she was asked. In addition, statements were made to the degree of "I'm a void...I drain people of their energies...sometimes, I end up getting their afflictions, too" and "You have some strange sensitive spots..." She also mentioned that he spoke of having strange amounts of energy in her back. Located along our spine are the 3rd through 7th Chakra Gates that act as a dam.

At her request, I performed a scan and found a abnormally large amount of energy pent up around the 5th gate. This fell into place with her later realization to his statement of her energy and gates. What was odd was the image i received. It was a human face, however, the eyes were a bright yellow, and instead of what would be a human mouth, was the grinning 'spiky' mouth of a jack-o-lantern. The face just looked straight on at me, smiled, and disappeared. I had shielded myself before the scan for safety, so I'm unsure if this image was anything to cause harm.

In any case, it shows how the priority of safety in doing anything magic, psionic or kinetic. Please share any techniques you use to shield or protect yourself so we can better prepare ourselves for future endeavors.

That's really, really scary. crying

I'm not the best at shielding, either that or the one who keeps attacking me can easily breach what I've got. It does seem to help in general, though, especially against psi-vamps and empathy overload.

1. Quartz is your friend. Though it's not guaranteed by a long shot, it can ward off psi-vamps who don't know what they're doing.

2. I don't think this will help most people, but I just imagine wings engulfing me.

3. I call for backup from my guide when needed.

4. I get in touch with something dealing with my element, which gives me more energy to maintain shields.

I've never been particularly interested in doing any in-depth research on shields and shielding, though I have come across a fair bit. I've come to personally hold shielding in the common idea with little regard due partially to my beliefs.

Any search online or on other magic forums should yeild pretty good results for sheilding and alternatives. I've always thought constant shielding is stupid, turns out people agree because its a drain on ones energy when its not being useful. According to popular consensus (amoung more 'adept' individuals I suppose) masking ones energy is debatably the best method, ironic since its not necissarily a shield.

I rely on my natural shields and my disturbing 'luck' to deal with most things. And outside of that, I just take the energy I didn't waste on shielding for (however long it was since the date I was last attacked and what the date is on the current attack) and use it to fix or change whatevers bothering me. Mind you attacks are rare and far between...and energy doesn't usually build like that.

Well I use many differant techniques to protect myself depending upon what is attacking me and how.
Like if its a spirit I will "cast" it into another realm usualy astral.
But if its a physical person using magick or what not I will either just stop the person or the energy by means of energy manipulation.

I reccomend for beginners just imagine your aura hardening like a shield and usualy that makes an Ok shield.

I never really did much shielding before.. I could probably do some if i tried but for that kind of... ennemy, I don't think I have much to fear for some reason.

I think you're exaggerating a bit. stare

Yeah, this story's about me. I'll be working this evening to get every detail I can recall down on a document. The context is likely necessary, too. I consider it a good learning experience to all involved, and I don't believe I'm in any sort of grave danger due to this. 3nodding

Oooh, thanks for saying that. I feel relieved now. whee Then again it seems I've been finding whatever I can to worry about lately... stare

Good question! I was like that for several years, then all of the sudden I seemed to start getting myself into trouble... sweatdrop

But then I discovered I had been being 'attacked' for years and years, I just wasn't aware of it. It sounds crazy, I know. And it was entirely accidental, I'm sure. When my father left us a few years back, suddenly I started feeling much more energetic and better able to handle things. I didn't think much of it, until both my mum and aunt independently approached me saying they thought my father was one of those unknowing psi-vampires. I don't know if it's true or not, but him leaving sure did help. sweatdrop

It had been a long day getting ready for the party. The guests had poured in, many of whom I was already acquainted with. I had heard a little about a guy named Kevin coming, as well, and sure enough, he arrived as we were setting up the board game. He had blonde hair and blue eyes, dressed a little fancier than any other guy in the group, and seemed a lot calmer. The game was Wizardology, which was pretty fun, though it had little to nothing to do with magic. I can’t remember when during the course of the game I said it, but I proclaimed myself a witch in Japanese, something that Kevin seemed to understand. I knew he spoke a little, but I didn’t know he’d be aware of that word.

Later on that evening, he tried to give me a shoulder rub by surprise, startling me. He commented on how excitable I was and explained he wanted to try an experiment. I was a bit nervous still, and at first refused. He was very straightforward about things and reassured me. I lay down on the floor, and he started what seemed to be a backrub. He wasn’t very good at it as it hurt in a couple spots, but I assumed that was because of how tense I was; it always hurts a bit to work out the knots. He mentioned how I had some odd sensitive spots on my back, and I explained about the injury I had from karate a while back. However, I didn’t mention anything about the sensitivity between my shoulders. As he finished, I tried to push myself up to thank him. My entire body felt like lead, and I had lost most of my awareness of the world around me. I look up at him out of the corner of my eye.

“How do you feel?” He asks.
“...I feel heavy,” I respond weakly.
“Are you energy sensitive?”
“Yes.”
(Paraphrasing) “Hm. I’m sort of a void. I can drain energy.”
“Damn you...”
“So, what’s your element? Your energy is warm. Fire? Earth? Or are you a Void like me?” I chuckle a bit at this point.
“Are you going to tell me, or should I drain you more and find out for myself?”
“Why?”
“Fine?”
“Why?” I say a bit louder, which wasn’t saying much.
“Oh, why! I don’t come across people like you that often.”
“Water,” I finally say, “though I have some electric leanings.”
“Hm. I’m going to check your energy flow,” he states. I nod, hoping this also meant that he’d return what he took. I doubted that a friend’s friend would do something like this to me. After a while, he finishes. I feel a little more alert at this point.
“Most of your energy is in your back...I’m going to try and fix it.” I feel his fingers running down parts of my back briskly. He finishes, though I’m not sure what he accomplished, and asks me if I feel any better.
“A little,” I reply as I sit up. The group begins to settle back in to watch the second half of the movie, and I feel fine in no time, laughing along with the others, though wary of this new Kevin person, who sits next to me through the whole thing.

After the rest of the group leaves, Kevin wants to talk to me. It’s about 2:30 AM local time (3:30 AM back home). He decided that we should get acquainted, since I seemed to be a part of the group now. We make small talk, basic things about where we’re from, etc. I find out that he’s a Catholic, though open-minded. It surprised me a little bit, but he didn’t seem too bad, all in all. He also mentioned being good at keeping secrets, that I could talk to him about my problems. Of course, the walking confessional didn’t leave any of his contact info, or I would ask him for more information. He did ask me about my beliefs at one point, but I never gave a solid answer, which is apparently similar to the entire rest of the group.

Was he trying to hurt me? I have no idea. Was he testing my earlier claims? No clue. The only things I can say for certain was that he knew what he was doing, and that it was rather frightening to go from an energetic party-girl to being unable to lift my head. Part of me doubts that it was a malevolent attempt, considering that the entire rest of the group are kind people, and I doubt they’d let a jerk into their midst. The only problem was that I couldn’t read him for myself. He was very stoic, which didn’t trip anything on my empathy radar.

On the bright side, this experience motivated me to make my New Year’s Resolution to get back into serious practice so I never get caught in that sort of position again.

I'd say it was late, and Azana was probably tired from the day. The combination of lying down and a "back rub" allowed pre-existing fatigue to "come forward" (meaning, her body took natural cues to relax).

From that point she became alarmed, and adrenalline began to be produced (more).

And that is a perfectly reasonable explanation for everything. ^_^

On the other side of viewing things, it is fully possible that he is what he says he is. Be careful when dealing with him. Any "stuff" you do to/around him will probably not work the expected way. Think in terms of Magnetic Poles, if you wish. You, and most people, are one charge, and he is the other.

You could also use the Terry Goodkind (Objectivist and author) way of "additive and subtractive" forms of magick/whatever from his "Sword of Truth" series.

I don't know for 100% fact, just like everything psychic-related. Buuut, I had a few dreams where this guy kept trying to kill me and kept threatening me on the astral. Then one day I felt his presence when I was awake and kinda freaked... sweatdrop Whenever I'd feel what felt like his presence, I'd start to feel really drained. I didn't take it as a possible attack until someone mentioned it later. But if I put what he said to me, plus the drained energy and feeling like I've been 'stabbed' together, it seems to fit.
