She'd had a wonderful visit with Acheron and his family. She and Elattoma had talked a bit before she'd left and she decided she really liked his family. She hoped that eventually she'd be able to meet the rest of them. He'd walked her home with promises to visit again some time so long as she actually stayed put and didn't come looking for him again.
She'd behaved herself mostly and stuck to the forest where she was most comfortable. It hadn't snowed in a few days so things were finally getting a bit warmer and she was glad that they day had been clear. The sun and her darker hide made it easier to keep snuggly.

The snow was a beautiful thing in the early morning hours when the sun wasn't bright enough to be blinding... But she had discovered it was just as beautiful in the afternoon when the sun was high enough above to make things warm. Now that her wings were larger she could use them to store heat, stretching them out beneath the warm rays for a bit before drawing them closer to her body like a cloak of feathers.
She had wandered out of the small glen that she'd been napping in, making her way towards the lake where she had last been found. The lake itself had a thin coat of ice on it; nothing that she couldn't break with her hooves... But it was beautiful to look at, like a sea of crystals all gathered together.

One she'd soaked up enough heat that she felt like she could move about again she headed toward the lake. There was still some clover about if you knew where to dug and even though the water would have a bit it would be fresh under the layer of ice.
She hadn't really been paying attention to where she was going until she looked up and saw a pile of dark blue feathers in front of her. "Oh! ..." For a moment she thought it was Acheron but no, there were two sets of wings. That was odd. "Hello"

She had gotten lost in her thoughts again as she had been told once by a friend not to do... But this time, instead of a frown, a soft, thoughtful smile curved the corners of her mouth upwards. She stood there with a dreamlike expression upon her face until she heard a voice rather close to her... A voice that, for a moment, she tried to pretend that she knew until it became clear that she didn't.
She turned her head slowly, taking a shy sidestep away from the source of the voice as dark gaze met the face of... Another mare. "H-hello." She smiled softly, glancing down after a moment as she pulled her feathers closer to her. "I didn't wander into your spot, did I?"

"It would be a little hard for that to happen since you were here first." She smiled brightly at the other mare. She'd never seen her before and it was nice to see new faces about. That must mean that there were other families closer so she'd have others to meet.

"You... Never know." She said sheepishly, feeling her cheeks warm beneath the soft, white fluff of her cheeks. "I could have easily wandered here without knowing you were here... I'm... Afraid I wasn't paying much attention to what was around me. My father calls me a dreamer."

"I wasn't exactaly paying all that much attention either." she laughed softly as she walked over to break a bit of the ice to get at the water. "I would think being a dreamer would be nice. You could think of so many nice things."

"Yes... But you could also wind up eaten if you don't learn to pay attention and I am afraid that's something I haven't learned yet." She gazed down at the frosted ground beneath her hooves, a strand of midnight mane falling down across her cheek.

"There's nothing that would eat you around here. My pappa keeps it all away." She nodded and smiled as she straightened up from taking a sip of the water. "Besides, it's too cold for the hunters to be out in force. They don't sneak too well though the snow." At least the ones she'd heard about that wandered around here.

"That's why I haven't been coming out much at night anymore... Well... That and because it's so much warmer during the day which makes it not all that smart to be away from others at night." She nodded slowly before turning to look at the other mare, feeling herself loosen up slightly. "I... Haven't told you my name yet. I'm sorry, that's terribly rude... I'm Nyx."

"It's alright. I'm Kalosyni." She smiled at the other as she stepped back from the waters edge. "It is warmer at night with others. Thank fully i was blessed with a hide that soaks up the heat that manages to linger in the day" It didn't look like the other mare would have that sort of luxury though unless you counted her wings.

"Now that they're larger my wings soak up warmth... If I rustle my feathers a bit they trap a bit more of the air and keep it warm but... It doesn't seem to make that much of a difference at night." She watched the other mare for a moment longer before looking up to the sky. "I usually make it back to my family before night... There's only been one time that I haven't."

"It's not so bad at night if you have someone around to keep you warm." She nodded and thought about curling up with her family and tried not to think about curling up with Acheron.
"Your family is probably very warm though, if they all have wings like that?" Or even if just one other one did that would still mean lots of fluff for warmth.

"My father and one of my brothers does but..." She shook her head softly. It was usually just she and her mother keeping each other warm while her father either stood guard or was elsewhere. Her brothers? They were big, strong boys now. They didn't need to linger around home.
"My wings are warm but... Other wings are warmer." She said sheepishly, dark lashes brushing down against pale cheeks as she closed her eyes, sending a thought out to someone that she had gone too long without seeing once again.

"They are. Even more so when they aren't your own." She had liked sleeping next to Acheron. He probably didn't think that she knew that he'd draped over a wing over her some time during the night.
