Hello, I'm the undying nephalim, creator of the fan zelda game called The Fallen Sage. Recently me and one of my friends on gaia started tinckering around with RPG Maker, and after reading the title of this guild we realized something.... NPC's and the worlds in 2D RPG's almost always suck.... they are no fun to explore... and cities generally have about 10 civilians that wander in circles.... Well I've dedicated this project to change that.

Inspired by games like the Elder scrolls as assassins's creed, me and my friends have worked on scripting and some event tricks that allow for NPC's to have fully functional scheduals and live out a programmed lifestyle... So basically every NPC actually does a huge series of tasks throughout the game. Coupled with the fact we are making hundreds of unique sprites for npc's, and you've got a living society in rpg maker.... this isnt limited to just people... every monster, animal, and creature within the world has a similar scripting system that allows them to live out there life in the wilderness.

Hm..I actually like this, a lot. It's pretty much a Radiata Stories remake with RPG Maker. What Radiata Stories did though, which would be awesome if you did too, was they made it so if you did certain thing for people they would join your party. This wasn't the case for every person in the game, just a good chunk. You could get about 300 or so party members. Of course, you had to switch them in and out at a guild because the party only consisted of 4 people. But anyways, if you could manage that..it would be pretty damn fun.

hehe... certainly that would great. I didn't want to mention it this early, but there wont be that many characters, but nearly a hundred diffenet "summons" you can get kind of like in final fantasy. But yes Radiata story is a good example of what the NPC's are like.

what is the point to this game?.. what is the storyline or is it just for you to show what YOU are capeable of doing with NPC's ....

we're working ona storyline right now, but for the next month our primary focus is getting the npc's scripting to work perfectly and making the world.

Sounds like a good idea to me. 3nodding
Even if you don't end up coming up with a storyline, you could leave the demo up in case other people want to use the idea sometime. I'm sure a lot of people want more in-depth games, but aren't exactly sure how to do it, so this could be useful to a lot of people.

there's hundres of things to do. Dozens of shops each selling unique items, and... did i mention theres a day and night system? So certain things happen at certain times. It's taking me forever to make the actual city.... heh, but it will be worth it. ^_^

HOLY COW!!..

no offense but with cities this large.. there are going to be two problems.. 1 it is going to take you YEARS to complete this project unless you work on it non stop every day you should be able to pull it up within 6-10 months..
OR
you will get 1 city done realise how hard it was and quit the project..

OR!!
you will not finish the city.. realise that it takes way to long and reconsider the ridicoulesness of how large that 1 city is...

The city seems too crowded and busy looking to me, but other than that, I like the tileset. smile
And would you mind taking out the image and just leaving the link for the city image too? I can't stand stretched pages. sweatdrop

hehe this is good news. I intend on the city being as realistic and fun to explore... almost like it's its own separte little game. As far as it taking a long time and me quitting, im already about 25% done with the city and still have the motivation to make it. I'll put up a pic of what it looks like up close really soon. And don't worry, the other cities are no where even close to 10% of its size. ^_^
