Hullo! I'm trying something new. Here you go!
Prizes: 1,000 gold for first place, 500 gold for second place
Deadline: Results will be out at 5:00 PM Jan 11th (London time). I'll accept entries until that point.
Rules: It should be easy... it probably is. But oh, well.
-Write the opening words of a story, a maximum of five sentences.
-No maximum word count, but remember: five sentences ONLY. No minimum count either.
-It's not much space to write, but the object is to impress me in that. It's not much effort, and it should be fun!
-If I see the words "It was a dark and stormy night...", earholes shall be clipped. But don't let that stop you!
To enter: Post your entry here. Titles are optional. Remember, five sentences maximum, no minimum!

The Sanctum
Alone and quiet the two of them stood, in the murk.
The mist of apathy upon their faces, arisen from the fountain before them.
Every spit and spatter of life it gave made a smile grow wider on each of their solomn faces.
Until they danced with repletion and serenity, hair blowing wildly, enthralling into all dark places, giving light to all who sulk through life.
A puddle of cleansing honeysuckle and love bursting through the seems of the Earth, the sanctum.

Yup, I've been quite starved of contestishness lately. I'm not just going to do the same one over and over any more, I'll make a new one every time... Or if I get a really popular one I'll keep it going.

She kept her head lowered, her eyes fixed on the floor. What was it that she was hiding again? She couldn’t seem to remember anymore. The sounds drilled into her head, a constant buzzing noise that was starting to make her go insane. And the screaming…that’s what was really starting to eat away at her.

The broken and shattered concrete road would seem cold and desolate if it weren't for the grass and flowers growing in the cracks and the trees hugging the edges. It's been centuries since this massive rubble pile was anything even remotely like a city. And that was long after the disappearance of all forms of technology. It's a very lonely feeling knowing that you are one of a handful of people who remember this place as being the one and only New York City.

RosesShadow Are you taking an English major, Zenai? I think you've answered this before but I can't remember at all. As much as I like science, it's really getting on my nerves. I want a new occupational goal(s). xp Yeah, I want to major in english, but I'm thinking of dropping it to a minor and majoring in computer graphic design. It's hard to decide though, seeing as the market is so competive now days. You have to be really good with graphics to get anywhere.
