User ImageLet's talk symbolism for a change. I mean, Cloti is chalk full of proof, so I thought it'd be fun to look on a symbolism side. rofl

Well, I was re-watching the promise scene between Cloud and Tifa, and then I noticed at the end when the camera moves to the sky, a shooting star flys by. :]

Stars and now this shooting star, are a very popular Cloti symbol! So here are just a few things that stars/shoot stars happen to relate to in opinions, and in actual beliefs of some people.

Opinions:
Quote:
The star is a symbol of something much greater than ourselves because it has a connection with the very foundation of life, with the very beginnings of the universe, and how creation actually started. The mystery lies in how light came from darkness. In many traditions there was a blackness, a void, and from this void creation sprang. Stars and suns are widely seen to be part of this moment. The star signals a belief in the ability of something to come from nothing - a belief in miracles. A star is like saying ‘yes’ to life. It is like a positive affirmation, saying that you are always open to the unexpected.

Quote:
"My Shooting Star" a poem

Was it God drawing a line
With a pencil of light,
To show me how a slice of time,
quickly comes and quickly goes?

Or was the meaning something else,
even more profound?
Or was there nothing meant at all?

Quote:
a dreamer and someone who thinks wishes can come true.

Myths, Legends, and Beliefs:
Quote:
People often associate shooting stars with good luck and success. To be a "shooting star" is to do really well at something, very quickly.

Quote:
They were thought to be a symbol of a new birth and changes in ones life and also a wish for a better life and this belief still continues to exist although the extent such belief is less then it was earlier. Presently a lot of people seem to be getting them to express their inner desire to be a star. They are read as a symbol of reaching ones ultimate destiny.

Quote:
During the games, a huge comet passed by the sky. Octavian address the crowd and said that was the soul of his uncle Gaius Ceaser being taken to the heavens. Julius Ceaser became a god to the Roman people. People believed that they were seeing a miracle.

Quote:
According to more common belief though, it's a good omen, cause when one makes a wish when one sees a falling star, the wish will come true.

Quote:
t was thought that the gods, overwhelmed with curiosity, would sometimes look at the earth from between the spheres, and that in that instant a star or two might slip through the gap and become visible as a falling or shooting star. Since the gods were clearly peering down at that very moment, it was considered an excellent opportunity to voice one's wishes with the guarantee that the gods would hear them.

Quote:
At one time during a particular bad period of wars that left many people homeless and with few if any family members they would gather and wait for the shower of the shooting stars in the summer to clebrate the fall of evil, but also to begin their journey as to where their lives would take them. The first one you saw, you were to immediately leave and set off in the direction of which you saw it fall. They were guides to a new life.

Feel free to add any additional ideals, and your own thoughts as well! ;D

This is just for fun. I'm not using it to justify Cloti. Necessarily. biggrin D

Oh, and to me... A shooting star symbolizes the validity of a promise, or destiny. The hope that wish will come true. I grew up with the idea that if you saw a shooting star, you could wish on it, and then that wish would come true! Sure, mine never did... but I guess all in all, it symbolizes hope. :]

Wow....that's a lot of reference for shooting stars. biggrin And who knows, it could all represent Cloti.

In general, everyone nowadays associates shooting stars with wishes and promises. (Well...in America anyway....but even if the shooting star didn't associate with the American culture, it still was significant in the game.) That star represented Cloud and Tifa's promise to each other, also, where else do we see a shooting star? In Final Fantasy VIII, with Squall and Rinoa. For those two, it brought them together, a sign of love. So what does it show with Cloti? A promise locked....thousands of stars in the sky....that one night. Even that scene was captured in Cloud's heart as much as it did with Tifa. It's what binds them together just like how it bound Squall and Rinoa. The shooting star could represent love in FFVII as well. biggrin

User ImageYes! <3 It seems like sunsets seem to be a common theme for Final Fantasy pairings as well. : O

Like in VI with Locke and Celes, and X with Tidus and Yuna.

Stars, Sunsets, Promises... Who knows! Could mean something. :]

Something else I noticed! Comas. (lol)

Locke's first love Rachel, was out in a bed for a long time, before she died.

Rinoa is in a coma for half of the game it seems. XD

Garnet even passed out for awhile as well.

Yuna... I don't think that happened with Yuna. XD

It did with Rosa, in FFIV I believe...

Just like how when Tifa was in a coma! Cloud was so worried when that happened to Tifa, and it seemed that afterwards he became even more inspired to protect her. Just like Squall in FFVIII, or Locke in VI. ;D

Omigosh, that's so true! rofl Lol, and Cloud was in a coma too. xd Aaahhh....it's so strange how all of these things happen. xd Lol...comas seem to bring people together along with sunsets and shooting stars. rofl Lololololol!

And don't forget promises! Maybe that doesn't count as "symbolism", but it is a very common theme that I don't think Cleris has.

User Image

Doesn't this look familiar to a certain pair? *CT -cough-*

This reminds me of the same idea I believe Aeris meant to convey in Maiden :

And now I "pffft" on the idea that most Cleris fans have, that due to the japanese culture, pairings in FF don't openly say "I love you". Or touch physically.
Here's some solid proof.
If they want more they can look at FFIX, X, X-2, VIII, and IV.

Lol, that's true! Yuna in the Japanese version never said I love you. She just said "arigato" in the end of FFX to Tidus, but they still showed that they loved each other not just through physical contact such as the scene in the spring or that last embrace, but through the time they shared together and the promise they made to each other. The whistle was their promise that they'd go running to each other. Sounds remarkably Cloti to me.

Well, even if "I love you" is never said in the japanese version, there's still physical contact, like Cleris does NOT have.

That's why they make up the idea that the japanese prefer to show their emotions through "hidden actions" rather than words.

And if they really believe that, they wouldn't they take a big CT hint when Tifa says that there's more ways to describe how you feel than words?

Ehh. But I did notice the shooting star. I thought it was sealing the deal sort of thing.

Lol, that is so true! biggrin Tifa herself said that you can tell what people are thinking without them actually saying it. Well...I think they are digging their own hole. [[Sorry to any Cleris fans out there....I'm a bit tense still after arguing with a stupid rabid.]]

And welcome to the guild my friend, you are whole-heartedly welcomed.
