Of all the Final Fantasies that I've played (which is pretty close to all of them) there are two that come to mind...
Final Fantasy X-2
Yes, close to everyone has FFX-2 on their list of worst Final Fantasies, obviously. For one, the storyline is horrible....It's plain stupid and Tidus comes back to life in such an anticlimactic manner. rolleyes Its only saving grace would be the battle system and its dresspheres. Personally, I really like this system because it moves away from the mandatory classes from previous Final Fantasies, 6-10.
Yuna and Rikku look like sluts. (I like Paine though.) It's obviously meant for fanservice which pisses me off to no end. In the end, FFX-2 is going to be full of cobwebs and dust in my shelf. (It's actually starting to get a bit dusty)
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus
It hurts me to say so, but DoC is on my list. The storyline irks me and Vincent's personality had been tampered with from the cool, smooth, poetic, cold guy to an emo freak who can join AC's Cloud in a dark corner. I really can't stand the stupid storyline. I mean...underground soldiers? Another weapon? Tsviets? Orange-haired emo girl who Vincent suddenly seems to have compassion for? What the hell?!
Again, its saving grace would be the battle system. I give credit to the FF team for attempting to make their first shooting game. It's not all that bad. In fact, I actually enjoyed it. Though, if you play it enough times, it will start to get dull. Then again, I'm not a shooter kind of person. Fighting games and RPG's are my forte.
Final Fantasy VIII
I know a lot of people like VIII, but I don't. confused For one, the storyline to me was cheesy. On the back of the CD case, it said that its major theme is love. Love? Love between another emo kid with a bitchy princess? *Vomits* Please...Final Fantasy VII's main theme was life and yet I can point out much more genuine affection in the game. Rinoa becoming a sorceress and Squall becoming her knight.... stare Sounds cute on the outside, but it's just unbearably cheesy! The two don't even fit together! This couple makes "opposites attract" untrue. Squall is a reluctant, taciturn dude who cares about NOTHING while Rinoa just wants everything her way. She rebels against her father in a childish manner and enlists the aid of SEED for her own selfishness. Character development wise...we see it most in Squall, however, it's abrupt. He pretty much despised Rinoa and then suddenly he fell head-over-heels in love with her. rolleyes FF team...I think you did better with love stories when you're not even trying.
And I HATE the battle system. gonk It's the most infuriating piece of junction I've ever met with! (Pun-ish intended) I really don't want to take the time to draw magic and without GF's, the characters are flippin' weak! You can be like....level 60 and still hit 100's without the GF's! And it's annoying that you have to constantly flip and switch the attributes to fit your characters. No matter what, you'll have unbalanced abilities and strength for your characters.
Bleh.

FFVIII: For one reason, and one reason only. And, Rinoa whoreHeartilly is that reason. I could post a million pages on why I dislike her character, but to keep it brief:
I loathe Rinoa with a passion. From the start, she was selfish, forceful, and Squinoa was totally random and made no sense to me. Rinoa didn't appreciate anything her father did for her, she ABUSED poor Irvine, forced Squall into doing everything, and then he randomly opens up to her... GRR, she makes me so angry. She walks all over people and is the biggest unappreciative pity monger I've ever seen in a game. She was rude, unkind, and considered NO-ONEs feelings. It was always about HER. And getting HER way. When she thought Seifer was dead--- she was sad for what, a minute before crawling back into her Squallys arms again? FFVIII made me SICK all because of her.
I spent the whole time during that game feeling bad for Quistis, and wishing Zell and Selphie had gotten together.
Rinoas pixelated self really dissapointed me. If I met someone like her in real life, I wouldn't hesitate to smack some sense into him or her.
-cough- Not to mention FFVIII had the WORST love story ever. Squinoa was totally random.
Also, poor Quistis. I suffered along with her it seemed, as I got farther and farther into the game.
This game is just a game of TORTURE! Utter, long, un-ending TORTURE! It'd be fine if Rinoa weren't RUINING the entire game for me. D:<
FFV: Faris turned out to be a girl in disguise. Thus, I put the game away forever.
FFVII DOC: Boring Cutscenes. More of Vincent being an over-rated pity monger. Oh, joi. Did I mention a DMC rip-off character? ;DD
---
So, there you have it. XD
@Twin: I thought X-2 was fun, and it really did have some good touching, serious, tear-jerking moments. (Like a thousand words. -sniffles-) Not to mention, I completely fell in love with Shuyin! heart Ahmigawd my Heeero. xD But yeah, for the most part, it was lame. You have to do all of these mostly annoying and really stupid mini-games in order to get the perfect ending which mind you, isn't so perfect. It consists of Tidus not being there, and Yuna saying "You've been with me all along". What bull-s**t. I didn't think X needed a sequel. It was sad and heartfelt and yet mysterious all at once. It allowed us to draw our own inferences as to why Tidus was swimming around with his usual monkey grin in the end of the game. In my opinion, the second to last ending was the best one. When Yuna jumps out of the Celsius and into Tidus's arms. That was a cute, happy ending. He's real, they're finally together again--- it's all spiffy-effin-dandy. >> But yeah, some of the things you had to do in X-2 were just STUPID. I mean, massaging Leblancs back to advance to next area? It's fufilling some guys lesbionic fantasies, is what it's doing. It was fun, it had it's moments, but it's just not a game I take too seriously. It had a lot of disapointments. Like, it's supposedly putting women in a higher light by making them run like pansies, dress like sluts, and say "oh poopie!" pout their cute little lips, and cry over sweet nothings until the game ends. Made me sick. I did like Rikku's outfit, though. I just wish I couldn't see up her skirt for more than half of the game. (Not lying, either.)
DOC is a mockery to first person shooting games everywhere. :/ Also, Shelke was so random, just like all of the other things you mentioned. *hates Shelke* The only plus side to this game, is all it's Reevy-goodness, and that cute random WRO members with little red hats and sexy accents. Otherwise, boo. Didn't like Vincent to begin with, and this game certainly didn't help me like him. If anything, it made me hate him more, lol. I do like the TURK Vincent though--- why can't he still act like that? :/ I did enjoy learning more about Lucrecia. And that's another thing about DOC that pissed me off. Even when fans found out the truth about Lucrecia, they still blamed her! Why of all the nerve... =fumes=
I agree with you 100% about FFVIII. I ignored junctions throughout the entire game, missed most of the extra GFs, and was only level 30 at Ultimicia's castle. Making it impossible for me to beat. Therefore, I watched my cousin beat it on his game, and realized replaying the game just to see that worthless gag-me, "why the hell is Quistis alone, goddamnit", "Selphie should be with Zell D:<" ending, is not worth it.

Kefka-Daisuki-Desu! Hey hey, Sarisa was cool, don't hate her for not being a man D:< WOAH WOAH. I never said I hated ANYONE for not being a man. D:<
*Faris* Was still amazing for the part of the game I kept playing. I just thought he... er she, was uberly sexy until the truth was revealed. -cries-
I was quite upset. D;
That's not the real reason why I quite playing FFV, though, to be honest. xD
It was generally... just boring.

Lol, Faris did look sexy. biggrin It was a shame too...it didn't affect me as much, but if she was a man, she'd be a sexy hunk. xd FFV was a bit....boring I admit....I left the game somewhere, haha. Right now I'm into Final Fantasy. (the first one)
@Lunar- Omigosh, that massaging thing was the most annoying mini game EVER! scream What's worse....I'm good at it!! gonk When it comes to that part, my siblings are always asking me for help because they can't get past it. gonk Oh why me?!
And it's true, FFX-2 did have its tear-jerking moments. I love the scenes with Lenne and Shuyin....they are so heart-breaking. crying And a thousand words almost made me cry...it left me just frozen stiff. So yeah, the game did have its ups, but more downs than ups. sweatdrop
And I despise Shelke too. stare She's just an angsty Mary Sue. And I hate it even more that people try to pair her up with Vincent!!! scream
In FFVIII....I'm at Ultimania's castle too.....but Griever killed me. My characters are at level 20 while my Squall is 99! gonk And level 99 Squall is STILL weak!

It was generally... just boring. V was a nice change from IV because it wasn't so character driven. Besides, when I first saw Faris I thought she was a girl, so I was right! Ahah! But yeah, I thought it was an ok game. I enjoyed playing it. Plus you have Galuf, his death is always over looked because people are still caught up on Aeris dying...

I liked most of the games, with a big exception. Final Fantasy VIII.
I tried to like it, I really did.
First off, the storyline is good, untill Disc 2 ends. What could of been a perfectly fine story if it ended at disc 2, they felt the need to push it into a time raping adventure, while I like time-traveling stories [Chrono Trigger IS my favorite game ever.] This was poorly executed. What was a rather great villain was replaced by a villain with absolutly no motives or depth of any kind. They should of learned from Sephiroth and Kefka that they can make memorable villains.
The characters, for the most part I liked everyone besides Rinoa. She was kinda cute i'll give that, but she was annoying and pretty much only thought of herself. I mean Aeris from FFVII died, and she was a very likable character! Why didn't Rinoa? I mean, wtf square? Everyone else was fine, Squall I kinda liked his "I don't give a ********" attitude. Yet they kinda ruined his personality with putting him with Rinoa, he seemed to be someone who could get along without love, and whyeghjsdfhsdhsdguyhsrgh.
The junction system was ******** awful. They should of knew that the Materia system was widely accepted as very accessible and fun. The junction system was needless, boring and just awful. I rather not spend 20 minutes to draw a hundred of each spell for my characters. I'd rather spend that time leveling up and upgrading magic that way, also levels didn't mean anything in the game. Though it did have some entertaining boss fights, and great cinematic moments.

Though it did have some entertaining boss fights, and great cinematic moments. You and me have the same mind my man. biggrin I especially agree with you about the villain of FFVIII. When people ask others, "who's the most badass villain in FF?" No one is going to say Ultimecia. In fact, they probably remember Edea more than Ultimecia! And that half-naked sorceress' motives were ridiculous....the classic "destroy-the-world-and-enslave-everybody-because-I-just-want-to" completely summarizes what Ultimecia is. Sephiroth wanted to destroy the world because he believed he was a god and tried to please his mother. Despite the fact that Sephy is a overrated, his story is much more original. Rinoa is a b***h, let's just leave it at that. And the Junction system was the worst. Leveling up was extremely inconsistent.....I ended up having a maxed out Squall with everyone else level 30. And most of the game, all I used were the GF's. There's no point in going melee when you only hit 100 or so when you GF's hit 3000. rolleyes I too tried to like this game....but no...I couldn't.
