Now, I'm going to say this upfront, I'm sorry if I offend anyone in this post. >_> If you disagree with anything I say, however, please feel free to debate with me~
So last night, on TV, there was a documentary on called Jesus Camp. It was about Evangelical Christians. It took place at a bible camp and it mainly focused on a few kids, and one of the camp counselor people things.
I have never been so afraid in my life.
These people.. aren't human. The way that they worship and pray to God is terrifying, they go into trances and start to talk in tounges.. and they think it's normal.
In the movie, they are portrayed as closed-minded bible pushers who only listen to Christian music, think Global Warming is made-up, that war is okay in God's name, and America should be re-claimed by Christians. They also think Science doesn't prove anything, and it's bad. If I remember correctly... 75% of home schooled kids in America are Evangelical Christians. So they're all learning this stuff at home. Wonderful! (I'm sure not all of them are like this... but still!)
And the best part? Apparently this is 25% of America's population. Sometimes I'm glad to be Canadian.
My mum's old boss was an Evangelical Christian from the states, and he would constantly lecture my mum about the religion. He said that the Evangelical Christians are warriors. In the movie, there were little kids dancing with war paint on their faces and wearing army pants. Some claimed that they were not afraid to die for God. It's so... wrong.
I used to go to a Catholic school, and if I remember clearly, the bible tells us that we should love one another. Killing is a sin, is it not? These people are sinning, but they sin "under God's will". Hahaha, right. Hypocrites.
I could go on and on about how... disgusted I am.
Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone in any way.
Also, I recommend that people see this movie for, well, awareness. Nothing wrong with knowing more about the world around you, no~? I'm sure you could find parts of the movie if you YouTube it. :3

I saw commercials for that, and I was freaked out by it too. There is a point to which worship just goes overboard! =0

Yeah, I felt sad for the kids though because they're brainwashed and ridiculed by others. It's really cult-like and hard to break out of.

- -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - I saw the film. It sickened me. It sickens me even more to find such close-minded and archaic thoughts in one of the most developped countries in the world. It's exaggerated and crazy. It's irrational. It makes no sense. I remember the kid crying because he was guilty for doubting God's existence. How old was he? 5? 6? How can you poison a child's mind with so much guilt? It's pathetic. - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- -

I watched it (not from tv though 'cause it wasn't shown here in Finland) and I was just horrified with how that woman poisoned the minds of your young. I mean like she said "the problem with democracy is that we'd have to give equal rights to everyone" or something like that. That was just horrible. Shouldn't this world be all about equal rights no matter if you're black, or white or red or green or let's say blue with purple dots. No matter if you're straight, gay or genderqueer, Trans-sexual or how ever you like to call yourself. And she really denigrated Islam. I mean like she told about these camps where "adults teach children to use guns and bombs and other weapons" Well doesn't she just do the same to the minds of the American kids? She teaches them to be intolerant and prejudice. She teaches young girls that they have no right to her own body.

I only saw about half of the documentary, but what I saw was... awful. It's terrifying how these kids are being brainwashed to no longer think for themselves.
Anyone ever hear of religious diets? Well there are some scary ones out there.
There is one particular one where whenever you get hungary, you pray, and the Jesus tells you when to eat. So there are young children out there who are becoming anorexic or bulimic because they are afraid they won't be able to go to heaven. It's scary stuff.

I watched the trailer a couple months ago and couldn't believe it was happening. Well I already knew/know what is going on with the different sects of Christianity and how the preach the Bibel (more like the misinterpretations). I was sickened and felt horrible for those kids.

They're showing Jesus Camp here in Finland tomorrow <: I'm kind of happy about that. I know it's kind of a sick film but people should see it so that they could understand how things work at the other side of the Atlantic. (No, I'm not saying that all Americans are like that)

I remember hearing about that documentary. I watched bits and pieces of it, and quite frankly, it was disturbing. What is going on in the documentary is not anything christian - it's a cult. Flat out. Cult.
I used to live in the U.S., but quite frankly, my home country's values really suck. I'm hoping Obama is going to change that. The fact that 25% of Americans are such hard-core Christian weirds me out - I'm glad I don't live there any more. I live in Alberta, CA, now, thanks, and I quite like the diversity.
I just think the children in that documentary are being brainwashed. I have nothing against anyone who is religious - two of my very good friends are religious - but I do have a problem with anyone that tries to push their religion on me or hurt other people.
Gay marriage is a good example. I hate anyone who is against gay marriage. Sorry and all, but my best friend is gay, and I think he should have the same rights as, you know, someone who killed their neighbor's dog and gets off with a fine. Or something.
The world makes little sense. confused
