It had been a few days since Adia'dafina had seen much of anyone, and she was beginning to grow a bit lonely. Certainly, she was used to company and had enjoyed the long expanses of silence while she had been traveling, but she had grown used to, surprisingly, the come and go of strangers that she met along the way. Now she had gone a few days without strangers, and she was somewhat sad for it. Then again, her belly was growing heavier and she had that awful forboding that something was terribly wrong with her body. Not so much wrong as... unexpected and rather unwanted. She wasn't prepared to have cubs, obviously, out in the middle of nowhere. It certainly was a predicament, one she wasn't ready to deal with just yet. She was still adjusting to the knowledge that she was pregnant at all, and no where near ready to deal with planning for the inevitable birth.
No, instead she would wander about and she would resist the urge to mope and be grouchy. But she was hungry, and hunting was becoming difficult with her paunchy belly, so that certainly didn't help her mood much. With every step, her stomach gave a defiant growl of protest and she found herself heaving her own audible snarl in annoyance at what she could not help. She was hungry, and that would have to be solved, but she was also tired and her feet were sore. She had some time before she would give birth, she knew, but she was already feeling the weight and that made her more agitated. Who knew how tired she'd be by the time she gave birth? She'd be dead! Earlier in the day, she had gazed at herself in the reflection of the pool and had been much reassured that her physique was still slim, but her belly was obviously a bit larger. Her limbs had yet to put weight on, but that made it all the more obvious the extra bulk in her abdomonal region.
Sighing, she stopped suddenly and her hind legs gave out so that she plopped unceremoniously to the ground. There was nothing graceful in the movement, but she was sure no one was looking, so she didn't care. Her ears were back as she let her head hang, watching ants trundle by her path as she let the exhaustion slip from her muscles and into the dirt. She had to keep walking, she had to find 'home'. Suddenly, she heard pawsteps and her ears swivelled forward, raising her head to peer around for the source of the sound.

It was none other than the massive brute, Moto'Vianzio, also known as, and rather preferred, Trigger. He carried the same sort of load as last time, two smaller ones over his back and a larger one in his jaws. It was not unusual for the male to bring back such kills like this, unlike his older half-brother and his younger half-brother, he did not believe in the whole 'Only take what you need' crap that the Pride Landers believed in. He took what he needed and then some in case that need becomes greater later on. The impalas he had this time had died a while ago, and the vultures were coming slowly, one at a time. Right now, there was only one.
Trigger did not leave the pregnant Mwana for long periods of time, he had duties to stick to. He knew that he was getting closer to the place Ahali had instructed him to go to, however, with a pregnant female, stops were frequent. The female was carrying cubs, ones he had sired willingly. Though the time of estrus drove him mad and feral, the pleasure was just that, pleasure. Now the daunting thought of fathering loomed over his shoulder whenever it got its chance. Feeding the mother of his cubs was all he could do and make sure she was safe. How many cubs? He had no idea, but he was fertile enough to create a decent litter, however, that also depended on how many the female could carry herself. His mind wandered a bit until his eyes fell on a familiar figure.
"Adia'Dafina..." he murmured as he moved toward her once again, now that he saw her more often, he was wondering if she has been following him or something. His hunting areas moved as he did, so she must have... right? He did not need to ask anymore nor did she when he placed down the large kill once again. The bulge was obvious.
She was pregnant and Trigger was not going to ask how, why, or any other questions about it until she brought it up again.
Trigger loomed over her with a mass some would find intimidating. Strong legs that could deliver a devastating blow, as these prey have felt, and able to carry him great distances. His dull, soulless appearing eyes were sharp as ever. He gave a scoff and looked down at her.
"Eat."

The moment her rosy eyes had found the source of the sound, she had straightened in some attempt to revive her typically sophisticated self. She was tired, however, and at his scoff and demand, she knew he'd seen her at what she considered her worst. Who was she to know that her worse would get much, much ... worse as time went on and the cub inside her grew. It was strange seeing the same stranger twice, but she would not forget this male's name no matter how long it was between visits. He was not the type of lion you forgot, really. He was a giant, and every inch of his demeanor reinforced that thought. For all she knew about his physicality, however, she knew nothing of his personality nor history save his name. Or names, rather. And she remember very well not to call him by what she considered his formal name.
"Trigger." She stated simply before her lips curled in a bemused smile. "Pleasure to see you again." But at that she lowered her head to tear at the carcass, obliging his demand. The skin pulled away easily as she tugged with her teeth, beginning with a fervor she hadn't felt in awhile. Her manners were a little slack, but as the meat hit her belly and she was no longer ravenous, she melted back into the polite lioness she typically was. Heavens help her, these little brats were going to eat her from the inside out.
Glancing at him from where her head was bowed, she hesitated to finished a scrap of meat before she lifted her head slightly to speak again, "Do you always hunt for so much?" She was wondering if it were all for himself. How much did it take to feed such a huge male, anyway? There was the likely possibility that he had a mate, but she was confused on why she had never seen nor heard tale of the lioness. All these questions, however, she kept to herself for now.

"Good mind to remember my name, and the correct one to address me by," he spoke as he laid himself down, shrugging off the other two corpse off his back, again a side drenched in blood. He was used to it, in fact, many lions should. The sight of blood was a common thing among their kind, lions, carnivores. However, that didn't save the thought that he looked appalling to say the least. Nor did he care about it. All he really cared about was that Mwana was pregnant, he was going to Ahali, and that many should fear him if they desired to keep their lives. However, this female had hit a weak spot in the lion. She was going to be a single mother... Trigger let out a slight sigh and looked at her.
"I hunt for as much as needed. If I do not get enough the first time, then I will hunt again," he replied. He licked his paws of dirt and blood, not that he cared, but spending a little time with this female was needed, at least for her. He could recall his mother being worked as a slave during her pregnancy, raped into such a state, bargained like an item, and killed when she gave birth to what his father needed. A son and another slave. His follies ended when he let Trigger get too old and too free.
The male looked at her and tore a leg from her kill, at the very least this would have been an even sort of thing, after all, it was his. He killed it. He carried it here, the very least the leg was something as collateral. The father-to-be took no time to eat into it.

Her brows arched as her grin widened into one of more obvious proportions, enjoying the subtle compliment for all it was worth from the lion. She didn't look ridiculous smiling so broadly, either, but it faded to a more gentle grin soon enough as she chuckled, "Who could forget, or would even dare to try?" Her tone was gentle, with an edge of weariness.
Tilting her head at his sigh, she almost wondered if she had offended him by asking at all. She had no idea that he was thinking of her unborn cubs, and his own past. Adia, meanwhile, had spent so many days doing nothing but hunting and with very little company, that she appreciated it very much as he shrugged the carcasses aside and settled down for what she hoped would be awhile. Even if not a day, but at least for a few minutes. Not having to hunt for awhile was grand, but having company in the meanwhile was definitely a perk. Her white tufted tail curled around her hind paws gently in one fluid movement as she watched him clean his paws. Tearing a bit of meat away, she resisted the urge to side step as he took a piece of the meal.
It was hardly odd for her to watch his movements, judging his distance and his intention. The mothering instincts were beginning to kick in, but she was doing her best to keep them at bay. It was his kill, truly, and she would not deny him his share of it, but she was aware of his brutal strength all the while. Once he settled to consume his own part, she stripped off another sliver of red flesh before responding, "Do you eat it all, then?" The idea was insane. She didn't think that, normally and without cubs, she would be able to finish off even this smaller impala. An adult thompson's was usually enough for her, and she would still have some left over that she could eat when she woke from a nap, or leave for the vultures.

"No, not lately," he replied as he flicked the bone away. Too quick for any filling, but it was the energy that mattered. Moving himself beside her, he wanted to get a closer look at her, his mind was hazy about last time.
Her fur was a slight shade of gray, a lot lighter than Mwana's. Some parts of her body was white like Maua's. Her eyes were a bright pink color. The female's body was slim and lean of muscle, but her body was bulging and her legs were bulking slightly to keep herself steady and balanced. How a lone mother survive was hard to understand. To know that one was slaved, he could only imagine the limits his mother was pushed to. Boldly, he pressed the back of his paw against her belly. Warm.
Trigger let out another scoff as he looked at her in the eyes.
"You're pregnant..."
That wasn't a question, just as he had told himself. It was a statement.

Well, that certainly didn't answer her question as fully as she had wanted. He had yet to say any true telling about his life. She was curious as to his mate, as surely that had at least implied that much. He was hunting for someone. But again, that was merely an assumption. She had no facts to work with.
When he moved close to her, she resisted the urge to move away once again, though she did lean slightly to one side. Her pink eyes watched him as he looked her over as he had before, and she felt her pelt quiver beneath his gaze, though whether from fear or something else, she had no idea. She wasn't in the state of mind to feel any real lust. The growths in her belly where too heavy a reminder of what such lusts led to. When he pressed his paw against her belly, she did jump slightly, startled, but she did not stand. Perhaps it was because she was too afraid too, knowing that if he wanted he could fell her in two steps, but she would say it was because she knew he meant no harm.
Rather than growing angry at this breach of personal space, she merely stared at him wide eyed for a moment until he spoke. That statement made her cheeks burn and she looked away, shamefaced, for a moment. She confessed quietly, "I am."

"It was the reason why I gave you food last time. Otherwise, I would not have cared about you at all," he responded before putting his paw back down. He laid down that made him look so... regal, that it made him look even more masculine and dominant as before. It just came naturally to him it seemed. He made sure that his kill was close by and she was eating. When she finished, he would leave, Mwana would surely be throwing moodswings and this one will too sooner or later. That he did not want to be a part of. However, having another touch him was... something different. It was like when Mwana touched him, he had feared that if anyone did, he would end up hurting them. However, Mwana was pregnant, far from being hurt or killed. Well, perhaps hurt to an extent.
If Adia was able to get Trigger to open up more, he would gladly tell her for an exchange of herself. it was simple. He told her about his life and she herself. Afterall, that was how friendships and relationships were established.
"If you keep following me, I could hunt for you. Best keep your distance though, the female I am traveling does not take kindly to strangers, nor me."

That was blunt, and for a brief second he reminded her of her father and the way he had treated his daughters so carelessly. They meant nothing, afterall, as as much as she had tried to love him, it was difficult to care for someone who thought you to be expendable. This male was different, and for that she was grateful even if they were no more than acquaintances. If he were anymore like her deceased father, she would likely have run away.
Her tail flicked to one side nevertheless, chin raising at the idea that she was leavable. She was not. She was an assent to anyone and she knew it well enough. Should she chose to travel with someone, they would only be so lucky. That pride caused her eyes to flash, but she said simply, "All the more loss for you, to not have my company for even the briefest while."
Her tone wasn't as cutting as she was used to, but soft and matter of fact. She didn't quite have the balls to make this male angry. When he made his offer, her pride was still stinging, but with a moment's hesitation she was able to reign in her indignation to give a civil reply, "I would hardly wish to come between you and your companion. Much less cause you any displeasure."

"Displeasure..." He gave a defiant chuckle and nosed her. "You know what, I sort of like you, don't ask why, hardly know myself," he laughed and stretched where he laid, his back cracking loudly due to the lack of motion in recent moons. If anything, the only way she could bring him displeasure if she was gonna argue with him every waking moment they were together like this. Hopefully, Mwana won't find this scent and suspect an affair of sorts. Obtaining a stud status was something he didn't plan to do but he was labeled one regardless, not that anyone would know. Hopefully, no one did but Fukuaji, the meerkat.
"If it was such a loss for me, I could have left already and not have cared. I am the one responsible for bringing you food and the female's too. If you hunted in your condition, you risk your unborn litter's life. If you want that on your mind, go on ahead and hunt. At least you will not starve to death," he shrugged and looked at the undead kill before her.
Perhaps he should just take it back.

She jolted slightly at the nose, but merely because his strength had pushed her off her balance enough that she had to dance her paws to resettle again. So he sort of liked her now? Well, it was a start. Despite herself, she found herself smiling once again.
His point made her pause, considering and weighing it's truth. It was her first litter, she had no idea what her body's limits were in this state. True, traveling had become more difficult and hunting had become damn near impossible, but she hadn't even considered that she might be putting the lives of her unborn cubs at stake. Inclining her head slightly to one side as she thought, her pink eyes strayed from him, to the sky, and back again.
"As much as I loathe the circumstances they were concieved in, I would hate to be the cause of their deaths." It was her way of conceding, and so she added, "I shall follow and you will never know I am there at all, so far will I remain behind." She put a paw on the kill and stripped another large piece from it, as if reading his mind, though her eyes remained on him all the while.

Trigger laughed and looked at her. She would be an ideal mate for any male, whoever sired her cubs was a lucky one. However, he was a downright fool to leave her as he did. If he was killed... well, he must have even been luckier. Only the strong survive.
"You will tell me about that eventually, I will promise you that. Being the cause of... any death is," he cut off. "Well, it will be horrible if your cubs died. Lets just hope they live a good life shall we? If that is the case, you will need to be able to keep up your energy and still feed them. Hopefully, you can protect yourself in this state. Right?"
The male rose once again and looked down at her. He will get her to open up a little, perhaps he could use it as a bargainingship with his meat. His meat for her company. It seemed fair.
He only cocked his eye in interest and said nothing more.

"Good, long and happy lives." She agreed, silently lifting a prayer up to any God or Goddess that was listening. So long as she was going to have cubs whether she liked it or not at this point, she would like them to be healthy and prosperous.
She caught that tell-tale, universal expression of interest and her lips clamped shut stubbornly, though they were curled in a persistent smile. Mirroring his expression, she was tempted to wait all day and not say a word more about it, but he had shared his kill with her indeed and she felt obliged to him. And now he was offering to feed her til who knew when, and it was the least she could do to tell him the backstory on how she got in this state in the first place.
That, however, was a devastatingly long story. Chuckling softly, suddenly, she gave in and attempted to paraphrase, "I was foolish and believed a tyrannical king would give me my desire. I allowed a lord to have me and he ended up betrothed to my sister. And here I am." She shrugged, smile not dwindling. She had had plenty of time to mull over her fate and she was resigned to it. It was how her stars were set, she could do nothing to change them at this point.

He stopped, his expression serious.
"You mated with a Lord? You are carrying a royal litter?" he questioned. That was serious and here she was wandering around? Where was this Lord? WHAT IDIOT WOULD IMPREGNATE A FEMALE WITH A ROYAL LITTER AND LEAVE HER!? He growled to himself. Mwana was a royal herself, at least she was. Once she was evicted, she was no more a rogue than anyone else.
Trigger moved down beside her. What a burden to carry... to love someone who was never destined to be theirs and yet carry the product of their love. Perhaps it was out of spite, perhaps it was an accident. But what mattered was that she was a lone female pregnant with some idiot Lord's cubs. Great. He rolled his eyes and licked her, trying to comfort her some.
"Does he know about this? If I was this Lord and I sired these cubs, I would be looking for you to take you back. Mate or not, you have cubs that are mine and at the very least, I should make sure they are alright." Says the male who studded many females and only saw the cubs once before never seeing them again.
He was an idiot then, feral and driven by his hormones.

She scoffed at that, barely shielding her indignancy, "It's not he who makes it royal." Her tail flicked, but she inhaled sharply and exhaled deeply so that she was calmed well enough to add, "The king, my father, makes them royally concieved alone."
She wasn't angry at Trigger for not knowing, after all she had not told him and she was very far from home. From a pride that the wide world knew nothing of. She felt ashamed when he spoke of wanting to know the cubs, had he been the father, and she let him console her because she needed it. All this talk of the unborn cubs was making her irritable and gloomy. The idea of raising them on her own frightened her more than she'd like to admit.
"He doesn't know. I only figured it out a day or two ago." She confessed that much, blushing mildly, "I've never been pregnant before. I had no idea what to look for, nor any expectations that it would happen at all."
