The night seemed to be perfect for Ray's planned trip out of the now totaled house so he could just walk around, and he picked the very night to do so. Of course, after the complete destruction of one of his usually bolted-down windows that were bolted down to prevent such a thing, it was a lot easier for the boy to do what he had been planning.

And, of course, he did so. Raymond grinned at the simplicity of the act, somewhat now taking the beasts' side since they had destroyed his school as well, and gave him a lot of time to himself and to his friends. But they had long since either fallen asleep- and some of them even moved to downers, since their homes were completely destroyed, and most of their parents died. Ray deemed himself one of the unfortunate ones whose parents lived. He heaved a sigh at the thought.

Ray's black jacket drooped lazily over him like a cloak, so there was really no reason to wrap his odd chest, he guessed. As long as no one would find out how freaky his torso was, everyone would be fine. Plus, if one of the gang were to find out, he would just beat them up until they swore not to tell a single soul. Not many people wandered the street at night, anyway- ever since the monsters everyone was scared shitless, and would barely ever open their door in case they came back. He grinned at that thought- if they did come back, he would want to have a shot at them.

The night seemed to go by lazily, however, since Ray had started on his walk, since hardly anyone was actually outside. He took in a yawn, still walking as if he had somewhere to go.

Writ was in his usual mode of chill walking the streets. While most people worried about muggers and murderers, Writ strolled along the sidewalk like it was the middle of the afternoon. He played around with his braid, twirling it in his fingers as he whistled an old song.

He wandered aimlessly, having for once, nothing to do. And, oddly enough, he was just fine with that. With all the monsters and drama happening around him lately, it was nice to have a day off once in a while. Writ sighed, sniffing around for someone, or something to keep him occupied. The night was lonely without anyone to talk to, or anything to do.

As the night passed on, Raymond soon forgot the fact that he was actually supposed to be getting back home before his parents had realized that he was gone, and began to drag out his pace of walking, reducing it to almost not even walking, but taking one step and then staring off into the distance. He liked to do this, however, since it gave him a long time to think about a lot of things.

How his gang was doing, how his grades (if he could actually call them grades) were, and the reoccurring thought that was the Game. He only knew as much as a regular civilian did, but he really wanted to know more. Why were they changing? What were the rules? Could anyone join? Were they the ones that caused the monsters? Those kind of questions popped in his mind every so often, but the outdoors had only made him think about it more.

Ray had been so spaced out, however, that he did not notice the teenage godling slip into his line of sight.

Writ smelled someone else in the air. He looked to see a kid wandering out by himself. It struck him as odd, but he remembered where he was. It kinda reminded him of when he met Crow. How long ago was that? A few months now? It was back when he was short, he remembered that. How time flies....

Soon enough, he bumped into the strange kid, lost in his own thoughts.

"Scuse' me." He said.

It took a few more steps away from the boy to realize what was so strange. Writ stopped, his ears perked up.

If the teenager had kept silent, the small boy might not have noticed him, he might have just passed by without even caring that someone was there. But he had spoken, and Ray had looked up and his eyes had instantly fallen on the strange ears the teenager had possessed.
“WHAT THE ********?” Was the first words the boy had said, his eyes fixed on the strange ears. The boy's voice was way too girly to be considered a boy's voice, but he usually beat someone into submission if they mentioned it.

But Ray had frozen, even though his mind was going into overdrive. This had to have been someone in the Game! Too bad he was a little too weirded out to ask him anything.

"Heard that." Writ said, turning back to the boy, "Nice voice."

He walked back over to him with a smile and a two fingered wave, "Hiya." The kid seemed frozen. Writ waved a hand over his eyes, "What, you never see ears like these before?" They flicked back and forth in greeting. Golden eyes stared at the boy.

"What's your name?"

Okay, the guy also has claws. Great. Ray gave the older kid a scathing glare as he commented on the boy's voice, but seemed to soften, if only a little, as the other man seemed to not want to rush out into a fight. His eyes instead looked the teenager over- since he seemed to be strange to him. But, Hell, this man had long ears- of course he was going to look weird! The boy's almost silver eyes stared back at the other's golden peepers before flashing a grin.

“Th' name's Ray. And yours?” Raymond gave the other boy an expectant look- as if he were now required to give an answer. After all, it was only manners, despite the boy's apparent disobedience of them.

"Name's Writ." He started to walk, beckoning Ray to follow him, "So Ray, what brings you out on a night like tonight?"

Ray's eyes were all funny. Not funny in the sense that one was lopsided or anything; They were just like his. Another godling. He made a shrug. Cool! He 's met someone part of The Game, and now the night was so boring. Two birds with one stone. He walked with a little spin in his step, he grinned, the night wasn't going to be quiet after all.

“Writ? That's kind of a weird name... But, hey, it matches the ears.” Raymond let out a small chuckle, even though his voice made it sound meek, and followed Writ. The boy gave the teenager a glance as he asked him of his purposes. Deciding to give him a vague truth, Ray grinned. “Ah, that's just it- The night. I don't know, but it seems more fun than the day most of the time. My parents don't like it if I go out at night since those monsters started to show up, but ******** that.”

If Writ were to notice, Raymond didn't seem the least bit uncomfortable using the word despite his age. He was really trying to be polite to the man, however, since this particular boy tended to use the word ******** as a comma.

Giving the teenager a grin, Raymond pointed to his own normal ears. “So... Who pulled your ears so they wound up like that?” Of course, the boy didn't really expect an answer, since he was just kidding. But he felt it was a good subject to try to use to get him out of the spotlight. And at least Writ seemed like he had them long enough to not be bothered if someone asked about them.

"Yeah, don't know what the big deal is about those monsters, they die" Writ snapped his fingers, "Just like that." He put his hands behind his head and looked up to the sky, "Yeah, I got nothing to do too."

"These?" He asked, when Ray mentioned his ears. "Born and raised with em'. then figured out some god out there liked me, and now here they are." Writ presented them in all their weird, canine glory.

"What about you? Pretty strange eyes you got there."

Raymond smirked as he heard Writ speak of the monsters. “Well, if that's the case, I bet I could've taken on one of them.” Well, even if he couldn't, he would try, at least. Ray watched the teenager's movements carefully, even though Writ still didn't seem like a fighting type of person.

“A... God...?” The boy parroted slowly, letting the thought process in his mind. The Game's about Gods? What the Hell did that mean? “Born with them? Your parents must've s**t themselves when they saw you- not every day a kid is born with ears like that. Ray grinned again, “Maybe so, but I don't recognize...” he mused.

“My eyes?” Raymond blinked at Writ's question. He had never really thought about that. “I guess I was born with 'em, too. But I don't really have a God like you do...” The boy smiled.

"My parents were cool with it." Writ shrugged casually. They were enough to raise him for so many years.

"You sure? You look like you do." Writ frowned a little at Ray's reaction, well, of course he couldn't tell godlings by eye color alone. Any kind of eye color could be a trick of the light. But no, he was sure this kid was part of the game. Unless Ray was acting dumb... Nah, he seemed like a straightforward kind of guy.

"Probably hiding from you then." Writ crossed his arms, "Didn't know what mine was until a lot later, he had to be all mysterious and stuff too. Didn't know anything about him before I forced the answers out of him." He smirked, "That was a long time ago..."

“Ah, so they were okay?” The boy looked forward and glared at nothing- his parents had never been okay with anything odd about him, including his... Specific strangeness. But he would not tell Writ this. That was his own damn business.

“Hiding? For what? Was he scared of you or something?” Raymond let out a scoff- why would a god hide from a teenager? That seemed to confuse him. “I don't know if I have a God or not, though. But that would mean if I did... I would end up like you did soon.” Ray managed to guess, but he let out another laugh. “Hell, I don't really care if I grow a tail, I can just hide it like I normally do.” He let the last few words slip out casually, probably not noticing what he had said.

"Yep."

"Nah, he just likes being a pain in the a**, that's all." Writ laughed at the mention of Coyote, "He's a lot of trouble, but he's cool."

"Trouble" wouldn't even begin to describe what hell Writ had been through thanks to his god, but that was another story for another day.

"Yeah, that's how it works, I think." Writ put a hand to his chin, quite frankly, he had no idea what would happen to Ray, that was assuming he had a god. The godling's curiousity piqued at the boy when he talked about hiding things, "Whatcha mean by 'Normally'?"

Ray glanced at Writ again, letting his words go through his mind before speaking. “Pain in the a**, huh? Eh, a lot of people end up being that. A lot of new kids in my gang are nothing but that- I have to teach them little bastards how to fight.” The boy shook his head. “And none of them ******** end up cool.”

“Huh?” It was then that Raymond had noticed the mistake he had made. His eyes looked around as if he was searching the ground in front of him, although his mind was reeling to think of an excuse to feed the teenager. “Uhh...” His mind fumbled, however, and the excuses he had already been through in his mind wouldn't seem to be good enough. The boy then shrugged. “Eh, I meant nothing by it- just a joke.” The boy let out a small, nervous laugh, even though he was kicking himself mentally. Uhh... Whoops. Maybe his parents' mistakes with words were starting to reach him.
