FINALLY. Finally the damned eggs were out, out, out. No more being fat and waddling around all over the place. Not being able to really play or fight or do much of anything. Ugh. If Asika had her way, that was never happening again. For now though... she rather wanted to find her wayward mate. And shove one of these things off on him.
Both of them seemed to already have minds of their own and constantly attempted to roll away from her, off to explore on their own. She was having none of it, though, having already thumped both of them with paws and muzzle a good few times. She was afraid to do it too hard, though, and risk killing the small ones inside. She wanted those already, not these cumbersome eggs. Wanted little ones to play with and to train and groom, ooh, yes....

Porfirio had gone out of his way to find Asika a nice, big dead rabbit. He personally had cringed as he snapped the poor thing's neck (because he would have felt even worse letting it struggle), but it would make her happy, and he'd do anything for her!
He bounced down the corridor, humming a happy tune around the rabbit between his teeth. Soon they'd be a family and everything would be wonderful and they'd raise their kits together and be really absurdly happy.
But for now, he hoped, the rabbit would suffice. Asika had been down lately, and Porfirio simply couldn't stand to see those he loved unahappy.

Pausing for just a moment to lift her head up, Asika scented at the air, then grinned. Aaah, coming he was, coming down this very hall, just around the corner. And he smelled of blood as well, blood and prey. How delightful! The idiot had actually gone hunting (for her!) and he seemed to have caught something.
Snaking one paw out to catch an errant egg, Asika stopped and sat down in the exact center of the hallway, eggs between her front paws, to wait. Yes, bring me your bloody offering... let me see and taste...

Porfirio rounded the corner and found Asika basically exactly where she had been last he'd seen her. She looked different somehow, but the rabbit was obscuring his view, so he approached and laid it at her feet before trying to figure anything out.
Oh! There were eggs between her feet! That was what was different!
Porfirio sat back on his haunches, grinning from ear to ear like an idiot. This was just wonderful! It totally made up for how bad killing the rabbit had been. Eggs! Yay! His tails jerked about ecstatically.

Grinning and clicking teeth at him, Asika leaned down and stretched one paw out to snatch the rabbit, tossing the thing up into the air and then catching it in her mouth - teeth crunching down to squeeze out blood. Droplets of crimson splattered atop the eggs and she made a happy sort of purring sound. Bathe and baptize them in blood from the start, that was good, yes, yeees.
And she was rather hungry after all the waddling around for the past little while, and then all the work she'd done earlier. For once, the idiot male had actually done something right, it seemed.

Porfirio waited patiently and happily until she had finished making quick and dirty work of what had, at one point, been a perfectly innocent rabbit. When she had finished with the majority of the unfortunate creature, he said, "So, eggs?"
Which was kind of a dumb thing to say, but he couldn't come up with anything better. He was too full of happy. They were pretty eggs, too, multifaceted jewel toned ones, more like huge gemstones than something organic. But then again, what had he been expecting?
He didn't know. He was just so happy about all this!

"Eggsss, yes," she half-hissed, head weaving back and forth a little as she spit out a few bones, not even caring that they were now littering the hallway. Someone else could clean it up. Probably Porfirio if her guess was right.
"I don't really feel like keeping up with them both," she said then, a bit high-handedly. But she already had this male trained. He would do just about anything that she said. "So you get to roll one around with you all the time. Just don't corrupt it."
She wanted them trainable, yes, but not utter pissants like Rio could be sometimes.

"Really?!!!" Porfirio's ears pricked up at the mention of him getting to keep track of one of the eggs. Wow, she really trusted him that much? All thoughts of clearing the hallway of possibly paw-piercing bones vanished as he took a few steps towards her and inspected the eggs. Oh, how did he choose? They looked to peaceful just sitting there. He felt like separating them would be some sort of crime.
He looked up at Asika, imploring her to pick for him.

Oh for the love of... he couldn't even choose a damned egg when offered one. The boy really was pathetic. With a little sigh, Asika eyed both of them and then nudged the one with purple streaks toward Rio. That one... reminded her most of herself. So perhaps the little kitsu inside would be less likely to be influenced by his happy-shiny attitude.
"There," she said, with a final sort of air. Wasn't taking it back now. At least not until training time.

"Okay!" nodded Porfirio, taking the rolling egg between his paws. It was unexpectedly warm to the touch, and he went about rubbing rabbit blood off it. Egg clean and task accomplished, he set it between his front paws and looked up at Asika.
"What now?" he asked, positively giddy.

Asika just stared at him like the idiot that he was for a moment. Until her own egg kind of wiggled a little and attempted to roll out from between her paws. Without even looking down, she smacked it with a paw and narrowed eyes.
"Just... watch it. Don't let the thing get away and don't break it or anything," she instructed, as if it should be obvious.

"Oh, okay," Porfirio, deciding that had been rather obvious. The egg between his pas also made an attempt to escape and he batted it back gently, but that seemed to have no effect.
"Is it safe to hit them?" he asked, remembering how Asika had kept hers in line. Somehow that seemed a bit cruel and inappropriate, but if the little lovely was trying to escape... Asika was their mother, after all. She had "instincts". Whatever that meant.

"How should I know?" she nearly snapped in reply. Already he was failing at his "job" ... how typical. "As long as they don't break, who cares?" she asked then, leaning over to whack his egg too.
She didn't even really care if the damned things rolled off on their own - except for the fact that if they were anything like their father, they were likely to hit a rock and explode or something. And that wouldn't help her plans, not at all.

Well, she seemed pretty sure about it, decided Porfirio. The next time the egg made an ill-advised attempt to escape he gave it a good whack. The egg seemed to be no worse for the wear, and if that didn't calm his nerves, the fact that the egg felt like it was made of solid rock did.
"How long are they going to be like this?" he asked. Part of him was still giddy over eggs, but another part was already eager to see what was inside of them.

With a frustrated little noise, Asika lashed tails back and forth along the ground - a few small shards of glass-like "fur" breaking off with the force of it. "I wish I knew," she answered, hissing softly. She wanted little ones already, not these stupid eggs.
And she had no experience with such things as this, which frustrated her even more. "It better not be too long," the dark female growled, glaring at one egg and then the other.
