k all you lot. here's a place were you can discuss the advantages of wooden clarinets over plastic clarinets, and vise versa. have fun and please keep hateful comments to yourself.
i personally prefer wooden clarinets as they have a more earthy sound. the lower notes are more rich and full. the plastic is too...metallic for my taste.
GIVE ME YOUR OPPINIONS!!! also keep the comments coming. if you disagree with someone, say so in a nice manor. DO NOT BE MEAN AND DEGRADING!
thanks

Wooden clarinets have much more resistance than plastic clarinets, some may not see the perks of a wooden clarinet right away but if you break it in right, the tone is just wonderful on a wooden clarinet. Its more darker, more round, it has more range in dynamics, better intonation.
the only downsides to the wooden is that its heavy, especially as you get to the more proffessional clarinets it just gets heavier and heavier. That was a unfortunate problem for my instructor's colleague in pacific symphony, the wood was too heavy and it strained her shoulders, but even so she decided to go all the way to the E11 and she still sounded wonderful, it has its flaws but
wooden will last longer if you take care of it, cleaning it, doing warm ups, keeping it out of the harsh weather.
the only perks of plastic that i can think of is the parts never get cracked, its lighter, better for marching band...but thats really it. I don't think it can beat the wooden.

I completely agree with MiyokoxClarinetti. I just got a wooden clarinet a bit ago, and it sounds so beautiful...
Like it's already been said, wooden clarinets get that nice, deep, rich, dark, earthy sound. I also find it better for me to reach those high-up notes, but that may just be because my old one was... well, really old. It's a lot easier to get in tune, as well. Oh, it's so lovely!!
I did notice it was a tad heavier. It doesn't bother me too much. I plan on taking extremely good care of it; I don't want it to crack. As a safeguard, I bought the one with metal where you put it together in hopes of slightly reducing the risk of crackage.
