Just though I would drop a few links, since modern reinventions of Hinduism and its mythology is all too interesting.
The first on is Ramayan 3392. It is a retelling of the ramayana with all kinds of comic book goodness, but still stays true to the original story and ideals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramayan_3392_A.D.
Another one that even has a movie! (Nicholas Cage starring gonk ) is called The Sadhu. Basically if you know what a sadhu is, it fits very well like a super hero. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sadhu_(comics)
I have red the 1st volume of each. Definitely worth a look. Great art and writing.

I've browsed through the Virgin comics and I find them pretty good. My favorite so far is the Book of Shiva.
I read about The Sadhu and I can't wait for the movie. The premise seemed to be very interesting. biggrin
