So I was sitting on the couch tonight when my mum told me about JK Rowling speaking about a possible 8th book in Potterverse.

This is a thread about a potential 8th book being written in the Potterverse (NOT Beedle the Bard, her charity book). She states that IF she does this that Harry would not be the main character.
This isn't about the movies (as the actors would be too old anyhow) but about how you feel about another book being written in the world of HP. Do you want her to write one, knowing that Harry would not be the title role? Do you want her to not write this book?

One of my friends said something about this hen the seventh book came out, but i didn't beleive her. Now I'm not so sure...

Well, she hinted at another book - meaning "Beedle the Bard" book that she auctioned off for charity.. This is the first I've heard about a book in the Potterverse other than that.

Oh man that would be awesome! But I dough that would be a movie...the actors hardly want to do seven. But the books are better anyway!

Yes Beedle and the Beard is out already... But only selling in the Europe area... HBP is coming out on November 21, 2008 for those in America, I dont know about those in any-other country.

HBP is coming out on November 21, 2008 for those in America, I dont know about those in any-other country. Actually "Beedle the Bard" isn't selling anywhere.. She only wrote 5 or 6 - all but one she gave to close friends who influenced/supported her during the creation of the series. The last one was auctioned off for charity. All the books are out in the US - unless you mean the movie...which I don't know why, as the topic is on the potential of another book being written in the Potterverse.

If she did another book, I dont think it would be about Harry. I would love for a Marauders book series, or I would even settle for it to be about Albus. And he could be a Slytherin, or non-gryffindor house.

Wow, if this actually happens, it'll be a dream come true. I'm the only one that's excited about this at my house. Everyone else here thinks J.K. should stop while she's ahead, but I think this is exciting news! Hopefully, we'll hear more soon...

I remember hearing about this. I think JK wrote what she had to write about Harry. I do, however, believe she might be tempted in the future to write a book about Albus Severus Potter, perhaps. I just heard her Pottercast interview recently and she did say that she has gone into great details about the future of the characters and their offspring. Maybe this information will be released in the encyclopedia, or in another book. Only JK knows for sure right now.

Oh that would be just lovely.
I hope it is more about the other houses like Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.
I think that would be nifty 'specially if any of Draco's/Harry's/Ron's kids end up in these less talked about houses. That would make me giddy with happyness.

I hope I don't offend anyone when I say that I hope she won't write another Harry Potter-book.
Reason why I think so is because I don't want to read the 'Potterverse' through anyone else's eyes than Harry's; part of the charm about the books are reading them through the eyes of the Boy Who Lived throughout seven long years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. smile
I wanted the Harry Potter-journey to start and end with Harry Potter and although I was not a fan of the epilouge, the last book did just that; it ended with Harry Potter's thoughts.

The idea of an eigth book is enchanting and interesting.
I am extremely glad that she wouldn't try and take up another adventure centered on Harry Potter, I agree that his tale is done. She could still use him in future books, but never as the main central point. I would be depressed if she chose to write another book on Harry's story because I PERSONALLY absolutely adored the seventh book. She could NOT have written it any better. All knots were undone, and the famous Harry Potter conquered Voldemort (as it should be, not by having his head too big, but by being humble and submissive)! It was an amazing tale, and I will never tire of it. If she HAD decided to add to it, I don't know how my mixed feelings would decide themselves. But to make an entirely new book/series, I would love to see how it would turn out. However, it is absolutely up to her...after all she has been writing these for how long? It isn't just about the reader-it's about the author too, and I have sympathy. Everyone is jumping down her throat at the thought that Harry Potter should end there. While another crowd (whom I will not criticize here) is groaning at the thought of another book. Whatever she chooses I know will be good. If she writes another book it will be a supreme example of literature and adventure as usual, if she doesn't-then I am very content with the seventh and final book.
I had NO idea that there was even an eigth book mentioned, thank you so much Orna for opening up that thought! ^-^ I like to see some new ideas and fresh thoughts.
