It is one of my all time favorite Stephen King Books I wouldn't put it down while I was reading it.. I was sucked into the story. The movie is awesome... after watching it I reread the book and it really helped to bring the characters alive. The best apart about them both is Pennywise!

Wow, you must've been hungry after you finished.... I really liked the book. King is great with kid characters. I just loved the themes and the supernatural aspects of it. I also loved the brief parts at the end with narration from It's point of view. I loved the way you got to see the characters as children and then as grown ups. The ways they turned out and all that. It was just good all around.

i somehow liked the book more than the film....although the bursting ballons with all the blood were really shocking....^^° but i think the friendship of the kids was shown stronger in the book than in the film....but thats just my opinion^^ i like the film and i ~love~ the book *__*

So I've been hesitant to read this book.. I remember the movie from when I was like 5 years old but all I remember is some scary parts and a clown. What's the story about?

It's about these seven kids who are all somehow misfits and they become friends and deem themselves the Losers Club. Little by little they become aware of a supernatural evil in Derry (their town) and decide they have to fight it. Then, 27 years later, they find out It has come back and they are bound by their childhood vow to come back and try to kill it a second time.
The book isn't as scary as the movie.
Also, what's with all these people who saw It and Pet Semetary when they were 5-7 years old? No offense, but did you not have parents?

The Lunatic On The Grass Also, what's with all these people who saw t and Pet Semetary when they were 5-7 years old? No offense, but did you not have parents? lol, my dad is a horror movie nut, and he likes to watch scary movies with his kids. It's amazing I turned out as well-adjusted as I did, really. :-p (and now I can't get enough scary movies smile )

Well, I saw the movie many times before I actually read the book and my mom kept saying she didn't like the movie but I couldn't see why. I loved it at the time and first part, the part where it's talking about their past as kids, is the better part in my opinion. Than, I finally read the book and after doing so, I finally understood why my mom doesn't like the movie. It's not very true to the book if you look at it. Only two out of seven kids actually came in contact with IT the first time in the movie the same way they did in the book. The book was way more in depth and I would so read it again but it's not in my possession. It's actually my mom's copy but my dad has it now because he was reading it. I think the most shocking part of the book is how Beverly realized the only way any of them would escape IT by passing into adulthood. The way she seemed to know the only way they would be considered adults. I couldn't believe she did that! Six boys in a row too. That really surprised me.

I think that the movie was good, but they could redo it with better CG effects. I'm on page... like 156 or so. It is a good book. The best part about the movie is pennywise. Edit: Tim Curry was THE Pennywise. If only he could redo it with everything above. And they should make it longer to include more of the detail. Like a four-five hour movie.

I dunno if anyone here knows, but SciFi Channel is apparently remaking 'It'. I, personnally, think Tim Curry was perfect for Pennywise, so I'm not sure how to feel about a remake...Let alone a SciFi remake...I watch SciFi Originals when I'm in the mood for a bad movie I can laugh at.

the book was excellent. the movie left much to be desired. granted, it was a long time ago and technology was limited and nobody wants to watch a 6 hour movie, but i guess that particular book just doesn't lend itself to a big-screen adaptation very well.
classic good VS evil King. i'll probably read it again before the year is over.

I'm curious how you found this out because I can't find any information about it anywhere! Not even on scifi.com. If you can give me a bit more information, I'd love to know so PM me if you can. After reading the book, I was very disappointed with the movie and I know for a fact that the miniseries version of The Shining follows the book a lot better than the original did so I'm hoping this remake will do justice if it is being re-done.
