He had found one of the two mares that he had been sent off in search of; the plucky, white mare with a heart of gold. He had sent her on to the meeting place ahead of him, giving her specific instructions to stay with the Dark Lady unless Alysida gave her other orders and, even then, she was to put up a fuss. She seemed delighted with that which had made parting from her company a bit easier.

The days were short and the nights seemed long, getting only longer when snow fell. He snorted softly as he shook off the light dusting that had gathered on his coat overnight, making his way towards a small pond that he knew to be nearby. It was still early enough that maybe, just maybe, he would find the Lady there preening herself as she often did before others awoke to see her in a less than sightly state.

Snorting, the mare stomped one checkered hoof against the frozen lake's surface, striped curls bouncing against her neck with every motion she made. The sun had barely risen into the sky and she was already frustrated to the point of screaming.

With no one around, Lady could only depend on reflections to aid in her beauty management, and with the lake frozen over, now even THAT was an inaccessible option. Now she was not only alone, but was risking walking around with a mussed up hairstyle!

Tears swelled in her golden eyes. No... no, she wasn't going to allow herself to cry. She'd get over this. She'd lasted the few months she'd come into this land by herself, and she'd get herself out of this dreadful situation as well by herself.

The commotion coming from the area of the pond gave him hope. He picked up his pace, a grin curving his lips as he caught sight of a familiar flash of purple followed by a gleam of gold. It had taken far too long but finally he had found her.

"I knew that if I checked every body of water between here and the sea at dawn I would find you somewhere, Lady Luck. Now I know why most say that luck is so hard to come by."

Over her sniffles, the familiar voice rang out, and Lady felt her spirits brighten immediately. Could it be?

Turning around, golden eyes grew wide as she saw the familiar large blonde unicorn heading in her direction, a grin spread wide across his face.

"TELI!" she nearly screeched, quickly trotting up to meet her old companion and knightly guard, "Where in the world have you been?!"

Immediately, her wings drew up to fluff and fix his tangled strands of golden hair. He always had such a beautiful mane, but it was a shame he couldn't care better for it. Ah, well, he was here now, although Lady didn't know for how long, but as long as she was around, she'd keep him suitable in appearance.

"I could easily ask you the same thing, Lady." He snorted softly as he gave his head a toss, setting golden mane back down against his neck after she'd fluffed it. Hair care had been low on his list of worries as the days had passed.

"One would think that it would be easier to find a mare of your hue in woods that have become sparse due to the season." He tried not to smirk. "How on earth am I supposed to keep you out of trouble if I can't find you, hmm?"

"Well I wasn't the one cavorting around with that pesky little bug, Teli," she sniffled, giving a mock pout for his benefit. "It isn't right to let a lady wander off on her own, you know. After all, bad things are attracted to pretty things."

Taking a few steps back, she shook her head as she watched him once again mess up his hair. Honestly, what was she going to do with the stallion?

"Well, you figured out where I was this morning, didn't you?" She asked airily, one eyebrow rising, "So why haven't you done it... before now? Keeping secrets from me, are you, Teli?"

"Cavorting around with a pesky little bug?" His snort barely masked the laughter that he was still trying to hold back. "You still haven't made nice with Tapanga? Here I thought that the two of you would have made friends by now..."

He took a step closer to her, stretching out his neck so that he could gently nose the small, golden tiara back into place atop her head. "Certainly not right at all... With no one to act as your mirror when the lakes freeze over." He smirked. "Astoria is here now... I am sure that she could aide you with these female things far better than I could."

His brow lofted slightly as he listened to her continue on. "Keeping secrets from a lady such as yourself? What secrets are there to keep? I did not come before now because I thought you would still be mad at me for laughing when the little wild one got tangled in your hair... You have to admit it was rather entertaining."

She feigned a surprised expression. "It... has a name? Now why in the world would you go and do a thing like that, Teli? You know once you've named it, it'll never leave you alone."

She nearly began to fuss at him over him repositioning her crown, when the familiar name was dropped into the conversation. "Astoria... is here?"

Hm. Well that certainly made things interesting.

"And how is the little Star-ling doing, Teli?" She inquired, intentionally ignoring his jest over the horrible past incident where that annoying brown gnat had attempted to steal her precious crown.

"Yes, Lady, it has a name... She also seems to have gone missing not long after you did. Perhaps you hurt her feelings when you shrieked at her?" His brow lofted slightly as he glanced at her for a moment before turning, fully expecting her to follow after him. They had a good bit of ground to cover between here and the meeting place and he would like to get as much of it out of the way as he could before the winter weather came upon them.

"The star seeker seemed to have been well enough, all things considered. When last I saw her she was recovering from the long flight she took in order to track us down. She and the Dark Lady are now seeking the little wild one in hopes that we can all have a lovely little reunion and talk about the news that Astoria has brought to us."

She laughed, shaking her head (though was careful not to mess up her mane, of course). "Oh, Teli. Bugs don't have feelings! Who in the world put that thought into your head? And especially not sneaky little thieving bugs. Why, you saw her try to steal my crown with your very eyes. Not that you did anything to stop it, you insensitive brute."

Following suit, the dainty mare trailed after the larger stallion at her own pace. He always did walk too fast, after all.

The news of the others grouping together meant nothing to Lady. None of them seemed to take the same pride as she did when it came to appearances and manners. Hmph. It was a pity no one could appreciate what it meant to look good. Such a waste of time.

"And why exactly are we having this little get-together? Surely Astoria must have told you SOMETHING, Teli. I don't believe for a minute that you've got no clue as to what's going on."

He slowed his pace after a moment so that she could easily walk alongside him instead of several paces behind him as she usually did until she got flustered enough with the fact that he didn't seem to be paying enough attention to her in order to catch up. After listening to her ramble on a bit more he glanced over his shoulder, ready to correct her. "She isn't a bug, Lady. She is a flutter; an odd one, yes, but a flutter just the same.... And I am not certain that she was trying to steal your crown. I am sure that she would have distracted easily enough to something else that it would have just been borrowed for a short period of time."

He sighed, trying to think of the best way to explain everything to her while still persuading her to come back with him. "We are having this little 'get-together', as you have called it, so that we may discuss courses of action that we may need to take. There is trouble on its way and we should all be prepared for it... Even you."

Her ears pretended to not hear his comment about the brown exotic flutter, as she knew fully well what the creature truly was. Not that it made it any more of an excuse. While a bug may have thieving tendencies, it was simply unnatural and unacceptable for a flutter to conceive the notion that she could simply borrow and keep something so precious to her, without even asking her permission, no less!

Aside from her crown, only her cuffs and natural beauty (and admiration from the general public, of course!) was all she had in this world. And those things would not be taken lightly, no sir. For her crown merely accented her own natural beauty, and what proper Lady would be without objects to adorn her fair head?

Giving off yet another dramatic sigh, she remained silent as she walked alongside her life-long friend. There was a time and a place to fuss, and it appeared this was a time for none of that.

"Trouble?" She asked slowly, golden eyes turned to watch his expression, "What kind of... trouble, Teli?"

"The same sort of trouble that we had tried to leave behind seems to have followed us." He glanced at the mare for a moment before pressing onwards. "We believed that it would be in the best interest of everyone to stay together until we could be sure that things were properly taken care of... I will do my best to see that Tapanga behaves herself."

The fact that Teli was acting far more serious than usual made Lady dreadfully nervous. Usually he was more teasing or jovial, but his mood had grown so very solemn, and the winged mare couldn't help but be a bit frightened by the change in attitude. The Teli she could recall had been patient, putting up with just about any attitude Lady threw his way, as she knew she herself could get into some interesting moods at time.

But this Teli... no, this Teli seemed tired. Worn out. Fretting. Something was wrong, and it made Lady hesitate. It made her want to run away again and hide from whatever it was that was changing her old friend.

But she would continue on, at least, to investigate the situation at hand. After all, he was her friend, and she respected his requests.

"Alright, Teli." Was all she replied, her gait quickening in pace to get this dreadful scene over and done with, her nervous curiosity getting the better of her.
