Ok since school's coming up I'd just thought a thread to help out those going back to Jr./ High school like myself. Just general survial tips to help out those who need them. And for the freshman who have no idea.
First lets disprove some of the high school myths.
Myth #1: The Upper classmen are scary...you must stay away.
Truth: The upper classmen are just testing you, and most of them are really big softys underneath all that toughness.
Myth #2: Your freshman year sets the example for the rest of your high school years.
Truth: Your freshman year, is just your freshman year. You carve each year as they come.
Myth #3: Groups don't mix. Your a band geek, you hang with the band geeks. You hang with the jocks, you hang with the jocks.
Truth: Some school's this is true: others no.
Tips:
Join a sport or club, best way to break the tension between the classes.
Respect the seniors, and they shall leave you be for the most part.
Ask around to see who the good teachers are, chances are: you have most of the bad ones.
If the guidence department has messed up your class scheduale: make an appt. as soon as you can. The sooner its fixed, the sooner you'll be happier.
Never let yourself be lost to please someone who obviously doesn't like who you are.
And, as always, stay clear of the bad things.
If you have any other's that you want too add: go right ahead. biggrin mrgreen biggrin

if you ask less questions, and don't act so immature, people usually think you're older... my whole freshman year, I had everyone convinced that I was a sophmore (well... everyone besides my english class)

If someone makes fun of you, realize they have bigger problems than just being a jerk.

I am in my freshman year, but aminly, I've learned something so far::
It's ok to be afraid
It's ok, other people DON'T BITE.... ((Most of them anyway.))
Don't worry about knowing people, just make yourself worth knowing.
The last one was a quote of the day, i think for yesterday. It's a good one. But, I've only encountered one person who bites, besides myself.... oO He's cool though.
And I'm in Key Club... yay!

I had no problems with any of the stereotypical things you often see in high school. As long as you don't look/act like your an eight year old, you won't be treated poorly. In high school the seniors are mostly annoyed with the littlest freshmen. If you're over three feet tall your probably going to be alright. xd

Be Mature - it doesn't matter what grade you're in, if you act like a freaking 8 year old, you're not gonna be popular with the Teachers or Upperclassmen (Even if you're a senior!) There is a time and place and way to have fun in school; don't act stupid to get attention, since only stupid people will think youre funny. Just play by the rules, and maybe you'll get lucky enough to make someone laugh without getting your butt hauled to the vice principal's office.

Uther_Litebring Now you post this info... I'm a junior, ask me stuff if you wish... i'm bored. Sophomore year, junior and senior count for grades. Junior the most. That's true. More specifically the second semester of your junior year. Those grades are the ones colleges typically focus on, though overall GPA is a big factor too.

Rumor: 'Senioritis' only affects the Seniors. It is a 'disease' that makes them think that they're smarter, and better than the rest of the school.
WRONG!! Most of the Freshmen this year are a bunch of little snots, and make the Seniors look mature. Damn Marshall kids.... *grumbles darkly, sharpening her fangs.*

Clubs are great for getting to know people. I'm Frosh this year, and I'm in... um, well
1) Anime Club (Mondays and Fridays Lunch) 2) GUTS, Girls using their strengths, (Afterschool Mondays) 3) DDR Club (Tueday Lunch) 4) Art Club (Tuesdays after school) 5) Role-Playing Club (Afterschool Thursday) 6) GSA (Lunch Friday) 7) DnD (Fridays after school, and sometimes saturday mornings)
You find then that you know most everyone in the halls, and those you don't know, you don't want to know.
