Why Are We Here?

It’s as the scriptures say:

Matthew 5:13-16

Salt and Light
13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Lately, I’ve been contemplating very intensely (not exactly by choice, either), why it is we’re here on this Earth. Why is it that we Christians, already being saved by Jesus blood sacrifice, are still here instead of in Heaven? Why is it that we must face everyday, day after day, again and again, struggle after struggle, etc.? Why doesn’t God just take us out right now?

The answer to that question is in Matthew 5:13-16.

We Christians are here on this Earth, in a sinful world, because we are lights reflecting Jesus’ TRUE light on those still stuck in darkness, trying to find their way into salvation that is only found in Jesus. That’s why we’re here.

Jesus came here once already. When He returns, He’s bringing the Kingdom of Heaven with Him. There will be a New Heaven and New Earth (Revelations 21:1). When that happens, there will be no more death, no more tears, no more any of that crap (Revelations 21:4). But until then, we’re here on the Earth. Matthew 28:19 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”

We are in a world plagued with sin. People murder and kill one another, commit all sorts of sexual sins, degrade one another, and do all sorts of evils. The Earth is dying of pollution, wars, and disasters. The truth is, we brought this on ourselves. God is not responsible for all the evils we have done, each and every single one of us. By that right, God has all right to judge us with fire, as described in several verses of the Bible like Matthew 3:10.

However, my dear friends and brothers and beloved sister in Christ, God SO loved the world, all of us, that He sent His Son to die in our place (John 3:16). He WANTS to save us. He wants us to LIVE. Jesus died for the unrighteous so that the unrighteous may live (Romans 5:6-8).

Jesus did not have to come to Earth. He did not have to die for us. But He did, He chose to do this, and He laid down His life for us (John 10:16-17). It is the same with us. Now, what I mean is not for us to go around dying for other people. I’m saying that we must imitate Jesus in this way: While He had everything, all things from His Father, and being God, He had (well, has now, but had for a short time) EVERYTHING. But, as Philippians 2:5-11 says,“5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”

As God’s sons and daughters, we too have it all. Not exactly like God does, but in Christ we have like Christ inheritance (Ephesians 1:11-12). The only reason for this is because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. That’s the only reason why. John 1:12-13 says, “12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.” As sons and daughters of God, we have all right’s to heaven and to the new heaven and new earth.

But why are we here? Why is it we’re still in this Earth filled with sin? Read Philippians 2:5-11 once again.

Jesus is THE Son of God. And also, as God’s beloved Son, His very nature and essence is God. He is God. Look at what THE Son of God did. He came to Earth FOR the unrighteous, with the sole purpose of saving them and giving them life in abundance. Life even in abundance here on Earth. If Jesus was willing to do this, and God expected Jesus to come to Earth and stay here for the unrighteous, how much MORE does God expect us, the unrighteous and sinful redeemed to not sin, to remain here on the Earth for the unrighteous, to be a light for them and love them just as Jesus loved and LOVES them? My dear beloved brothers and sisters. We are here on the Earth to reflect Jesus’ love and mercy and grace and to be instruments for God to save people. We are here to be lights of them.

How awesome is that??? You know, Jesus is the true light (John 1:4-6). Not even He could save the world by Himself. I don’t mean that in the way you may be thinking. Jesus’ death and resurrection saved EVERYONE from God’s wrath and judgment until Jesus returns. Jesus single handedly saved the world. But He NEEDED His apostles, His many thousands of followers, etc. He needed them to help spread the message, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is near!” He needed his disciples, both men and women, to be with Him for encouragement. Jesus was still a man. And we are people, too.

We are part of God’s divine plan of salvation, on this Earth! That’s right. We’re here to make disciples. Jesus had His twelve disciples do LOTS of the work, proclaiming Jesus name to the lost and sinful (Matthew 10). We must be here! Let Jesus be our example. He is God! But He lived on the Earth for 30 some years, for the sole purpose of saving people!! Dear brothers and sisters, take encouragement with the knowledge that while we ourselves save no one, God uses us to reach out for those lost in sin and under the bondage of satan. We need to love as Jesus loved, even those who we may think do no deserve to be saved. Of course, we got to keep ourselves safe as well, for even Jesus left people who were trying to kill Him (John 8:59), but yes, even the very worst human being can be saved. I use Paul as an example of this, not to judge him, for Paul did many great works for God, but he once persecuted the church of God. But God saved Him, and He is saved and in heaven right now, waiting for Jesus to return to Earth and drinking down heavenly lattés or whatever they drink in heaven. You know what else? Paul lived out His life for MANY more years after being saved, helping people and spreading the message. God expects the same from us. He really does.

The enemy has really been attacking me with this for the past few days. he’s been like, “there’s no point to life. We’re all going to die. Just give up now. It’s all futile” It’s really been scaring me. But you know what? he says things like that because he knows we’re lights. We’re here for the unrighteous. We’re here to save. Life is not futile nor pointless, and I’m talking here, right now, on the Earth. We’re here to save. And that, my dear brothers and sisters in Jesus who loved us and died for us to LIVE, is worth living for.

With that said, how does Jesus expect us to live? Exactly like He did. He obeyed God’s laws; He had mercy on the sick and healed them, and everything else you can think of. Death is never an answer, dear friends. Death is never an answer. Death, both physically and spiritually, came as a result of sin. If we died to sin (Romans 6), then we died to thinking about death as if it were ever a good thing, because death is not a result of righteousness, but unrighteousness. I’m not going to lie to you. The enemy has been trying to convince me that death is a good thing, that we should die and die now for God. But that simply isn’t true. God created man to live. Even though sin came into the world and all flesh is bound to die, God created and still creates us to live, both physically and spiritually. His decrees and commands have not changed. God made us to live out our entire lives, for many years, living as Jesus did, giving honor to God, loving one another, and reflecting the Light. Death is never a good thing. Not ever. We must be here. If satan ever comes at you with thoughts of suicide, or thoughts of murder or killing, reasoning that we’d get to heaven faster or something like that, tell him to jog on. Seriously, jog on. God has all power in His hands. He placed us here to live as lights for those lost in sin. Remember, God is the one who made us and the one who takes us out. We mustn’t ever think like we should speed to process up.

Dear friends, look outside your window and enjoy what God has created. Live out your lives here on Earth, knowing that Jesus is returning and returning soon. Until then, He has entrusted us to let Him shine in us for those who are lost. Praise God Almighty, forever and ever, who is the one true God who saves. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I had read this... well... more like scanned, when you had sent it to me and right now I'm just taking the time to reflect.

God's blessings are wonderful. The life He's prepared for us is wonderful.

When that's put aside, we face our purpose and realize that we're here for a reason. I've heard someone say "God doesn't just save you for you." and it's the truth. We're put through different lives and circumstances but we're saved to reach others. We all need to have different lives so that no one else is left out. Someone somewhere needs to hear what God's done for YOU.

Wonderful James. And thank you.

Praise be to God.

I very much agree with Cooyah-. But I also think that God also left us on Earth, as a test to remain faithful amongst the sinning population.

This is my little tidbit, since I'm not feeling well. confused

Izzimaki
I very much agree with Cooyah-. But I also think that God also left us on Earth, as a test to remain faithful amongst the sinning population.

This is my little tidbit, since I'm not feeling well. confused

It's a tidbit but it does have truth to it. Every day we live is a test of our love for Him.

When we go through life, God is looking at you saying, "How will you act, carrying MY Name?" It's not so much that He's looking at an opportunity to bring judgment but it's as much an opportunity for Him to open a window for us to be blessed. "How much will you follow My Word so that I can bless your socks off in this life like I want to?"

Good word bro, good word. The gospel means 'good news' and your word today definitely was good.

We have a job to do. That's it, that's all, and if every one of us is faithful to what we are supposed to do, in our little sphere or circle of influence, than every area, every person would be covered. Let it begin with us. Amen.

again, i'll say that I really needed to hear (read) this. Oh, oh, oh!

"God created man to live. Even though sin came into the world and all flesh is bound to die, God created and still creates us to live, both physically and spiritually. His decrees and commands have not changed. God made us to live out our entire lives, for many years, living as Jesus did, giving honor to God, loving one another, and reflecting the Light"

He created us to live. He is the same today, tomorrow and forevermore!

Praise his Holy, Holy, Holy Name! For we are blessed to be the reflection of his Beautiful Face heart
