Well, I'm a bit in shock that the Tower doesn't alredy have a thread, or its own sub-forum, but as things are, it looks like this will have to do.

So this thread is made to discuss in what my oppinion are King's seven greatest books to date. Discuss any of the characters, settings, plots and sub-plots that you can think of here.

So, which book out of the series did you like the best? My favorite had to be Wizard and Glass, simply because of the former ka-tet. Cuthbert and Alain were exactly how I imagined them to be.

My favorite book was The Drawing of the Three mostly because of exactly what the title describes. The Waste Lands were pretty good as well. I definately liked the original trilogy a lot. My least favorite was Wizard and Glass not because of the story, which was great, but probably just because of the telling and the length. I got really bored with it.

Speaking of, the comic books were really good. The Gunslinger Born. They were basically a retelling of the fourth book and I have not one complaint about them.

Also, what did you all think of the ending of the Quest? I know a lot of people were upset by it, but I thought it was so perfectly appropriate my head might explode because I hadn't thought of it. I mean, the entire series was preparing us for it. Ka is a whee, you know? Everything comes back to where it began. I LOVED that it ended with that line. "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed." It was amazing. Once I finish all of King's books I'm going to reread at least the first three books if not the rest.

Oh, and one other thing, since some of you might not know about this. I didn't until I stumbled upon it. There is a short story called The Little Sisters of Eluria which is hiding in the middle of Everything's Eventual: 14 Dark Tales. This features one of Roland's adventures between Jericho Hill and chasing Walter across the desert. It's very good.

well, I'd have to say that my favorite is The Drawing Of The Three but i have only read half of the third book so far, a grand total of 2 and a half books read of the series, so im not entirely sure yet

I must admit, I haven't been reading in a while...

I was a couple hundred pages into The Wizard and Glass, but it was getting really boring, so I put it down for a while, and never really got back to it.

I'm going to finish someday, but I probably need to go back and reread the first 3 again... *Sigh* Why is it that the mind is most like a sieve when trying to retrieve details about the most interesting stories?

I know what you mean about the lengthly story, but I guess that's what entranced me in the first place. Yeah, as soon as I heard there was another part about the Gunslinger in Everything's Eventual, I jumped on it like a dog on a steak. xD I actually had to skip a part in Detta Walker's life in Drawing of the Three. I just... I can't really read that kind of slang over and over again. Which is why I could never read anything by Mark Twain. xD

Yeah you're not missing much from skipping part of Detta's life. I could hardly stand/understand it myself. And I agree about Mark Twain as well. I have to read Huck Finn right now for English and I'm really sick of it halfway through.

And like I said. I never actually heard about the Little Sisters. I didn't know it was a DT episode until I got there chronologically in Everything's Eventual and read the intro. Then I all but started drooling, lol.

Well, anyone who can recognise the poem in my signature can probably tell which is my favourite of the seven. After Wizard and Glass, Wolves of the Calla is my next favourite. It's just really good to see Callahan back. He was such a cool guy in 'Salem's Lot.

Yeah, if only all priests were that cool, hell, I might convert to Catholisism if I ever met the Pere. xD

Hey, that brings up another good question: Who do you think was the most believable character in the Dark Tower series? I know in King's writing he makes his character's flesh and blood, but there are some that are just more believable than others. Who do you think?

I think Eddie and Jake are up there, big time. Susannah and Roland not so much.

Eddie and Jake definately. Yeah, I think it would actually be a compliment to say that Roland is unbelieveable. xD Susan was pretty believeable for however long we knew her, and Patrick Danville as well, despite his disability and power.

I love the Dark Tower books. My favorite is Wolves of the Calla. I also really like "The Little Sisters of Eluria." My favorite character is Jake. The only one that I didn't really like was Susannah.

Yeah, I feel like a jerk for saying this, but I wish that she was the one who got taken out first. I don't think that she deserved the happiness that she got in the end, although Eddie did.
