Oh it was a gorgeous night, the sun had set, but it was still too early for sleep. No the young wind stayed awake much longer then she should have really, a night owl she had once been called, she honored that name proudly. Ruffling her many colored feathers she watched the fading colors of twilight. Her own heart beating against her ribs as the colors faded to leave the skies a dark blue and the stars to twinkle with all their glory.

"Another night, another cold night." The mare shivered as she headed toward the trees where she would be making her home for the night.

The trees connected to a dark forest, one that she was in tuned to explore when the dawn came. For now she pressed through the trees, the undergrowth to where she could find a good soft spot to rest. With teh light gone, she ventured further then the moon could illuminate, stumbling she came to land on a bed of moss, it would do..

Folding her legs beneath her body, Wicapi Wakan closed her eyes after hiding her head beneath a wing to sleep. Though her ears twitched as she lay somewhat restless, there was too much that she wanted to do, so much she wanted to see that she couldn't sleep... No matter how much she wanted...

A soft growl left his lips as his nose picked up the scent of the blood. It wasn't blood shed, but blood coursing through the body. He could smell it, and his jaws started to salivate slightly as he ambled on, his nose leading him to the source of the delicious smell.

Finally he came upon a winged mare, curling to herself and trying to sleep apparently. Well her sleeping would have to be fixed, as she would h ave to scream to make it worthwhile.

His ears twitched as he walked closer, leaning his nose down slightly to smell the delicious-ness under her skin.
Too bad she was pretty. The pretty one's were always the ones he ran into.

"Someone doesn't pay enough attention to the dark."
He whispered, voice in her ears as he mouth was right beside her ear.
Oh she'd hear him, and she might even open her eyes.

Barely still within the waking world, Wica's eyes fluttered open as she just about banged her head against the one that was so close to her. Her liquid gold eyes, blurry at first, started to clear before she stared into the amber eyes of a stranger that had approached without her knowing. Had this stranger the art of silence to where she hadn't heard a single hoof step? Clearly so as she blinking a few times to get her eyes off his.

"Perhaps it is the dark that some like?" she mused groggily as she yawned, it was later then she expected to have company.

In a way, Wica thought she was dreaming. Dreaming of meeting someone in the dark instead of actually living it. Laying her head back down, she sighed, though with a big inhale, she caught the scent of the stranger. It clearly wasn't of any Soquili she had 'scented' before. He certainly smelt like a Soquili, but there was something rather... Strange about him...

"Isn't it time for everyone to sleep anyways?" she asked mindlessly, thinking that what she was smelling was in her imagination and tried drifting back to sleep.

"I can't sleep with an empty stomach." He said, walking around her and grinning as if circling his meal. He was much like a vulture. But he smiled menacingly and shook his head.

"Care to help me with that?" He asked, gazing at the swirly mare. He couldnt help but feel his stomach rumble at the thought of fresh meat from the mare sliding down his throat. But it wasnt going to be fun if she wasn't afraid first.

He gave a good flash of his canines as he smiled at her again, his eyes golden and menacing as he stared her down.

She was much too trusting for her own good. Maybe this would be a good experience.. Or it would be for a moment or two before she took her last breath.
God was he hungry.

This time her eyes snapped open, quicker then the first time as her ears twitched at the sounds of the other's pacing around her. It reminded her of the story about wolves, how they circled their prey looking weaknesses and a good point to attack. Was this what this one was doing? Or was he trying to scare her into thinking that he was a predator... He certainly was acting the part very well...

"I'm sure there's plenty for you to eat if you are hungry. Surely a good batch of berries or something..." she wondered having lifted her head off the ground and tilting it to the side. "But if you are what you act to be, maybe there are some bunnies or something?"

She was trusting that this stranger would start to leave her along with the suggestions. In fact she was too trusting for her own good, more of the time then less. Coming from a family of caring, loving parents and what not, she didn't come to grips with the fears of the outside world. Stretching her wings a little, Wica yawned again, she was tired and this stranger didn't seem to want to be leaving her alone.

With a sigh she hoisted herself to her hooves, her head drooping she hoped maybe if she helped this stranger get something to eat. Her tired eyes, watched the shadow where the illuminating eyes were, she wished that it was day and she could see more clearly. Then maybe she could be of more help. Still, the faster this one had something to eat and maybe the faster she could go back to bed...

He saw her eyes snap open, and fear was in them for a brief second, before she started spouting off something of berries and bunnies. He wasn't paying any attention to her words really.. He was watching the turn of her neck.. The grace of her legs. Such things would make her so much more tasty, and he thanked himself for finding such a delightful treat. He had never had Wings before either. Or.. on Soquili.. He had often munched on little birds.

"Berries,ha.. And what could a bunny do that you could not?" He asked.
"Why hunt something when a perfectly delectable morsel in front of me? You wont require much effort."

He said, seeing as she was tired and droopy. Her fatigue would keep her from flying right now.. He saw it on her face.. Her fatigue was keeping her from fear. Not a smart move. She'd better wake up a bit faster..

She barely heard what he had said about The items she had suggested, though her head lifted straight up when he mentioned a meal before him. Was he speaking of her? Surely not, only a beast would prey upon something like her. Shaking her head she narrowed her eyes toward the stranger, stomping a heavy hoof.

"I'm sure we can find something better then me. I'm sure I'm stringy or something." Her tone was light despite the heaviness of her mind. "You really won't eat me... Would you?"

Her ears laid back against her head as she side stepped away from the tree where she was starting to feel a bit cornered. She was starting to come out of her sleepiness, but it was slow. Still, she was going to trust this stranger, she always was, what she was... Too trusting to know when her life was in danger and when it was not. She was willing to help this stranger even if at the back of her mind she wouldn't want it following her...

She spoke of herself as if she was stringy, but she had no idea that Richard would enjoy her very much. Smiling a bit,his canines gleaming as the pelt over his body followed his movements.

"Oh, but I would enjoy eating you all too much. Now do be a dear and hold still for me?"

He asked, stepping closer to her, and edging to the left slightly as to cut off her escape as she moved from the tree. She was feeling cornered, he saw it in her face.

"Ah, Once upon a midnight dreary, as she pondered weak and weary.."
He said, his quote deep and and his eyes gleaming like a predator.
Liek a wolf.

'As she?' was he really talking about her? Or perhaps another mare that he had met some time ago, but she noted his advancement on her was she moved. 'Stalker' struck her mind as she made to move another direction, her wings opening just a bit as the feathers were fluffing out in a defensive manner. What was going on? This must have been one large nightmare, it is was, it was all too real. Her golden eyes watched the ones that shown within the dappling moon light.

"Who are you?" she asked, her voice trying to remain even, "What are you?"

She had a feeling she didn't want to know what this creature was. Rearing back she backed away from the stranger, watching the eye shine and the gleam of what must have been... A pelt? No, it couldn't have been. No one wore pelts... Backing away, hoping to get some distance between herself and this gleaming eyed stranger. She had yet to really notice the fangs, she was more interested in keeping eye contact even if that could spell her doom.

He matched her moves well, following her and anticipating what she would decide to do.Where she would decide to run. His smile never left his face as his feral eyes kept a gaze on her own. She was scared now. Good. He had scared her.

Such a cute little mare, such a shame- No.
He wasn't going to think that way.. He was a skinwalker, he was deadly.. And he had every reason to be cruel now.

"My name is Richard, dear. And I am what you might call, a lucky one. Blessed with abilities given to only the most capable of carrying them. I, my dear, am a skinwalker.."
He said, standing proud, but still managed to look like he was following and stalking her.

A what? Skinwalker? Weren't they supposed to only myth? Legend? Surely this stranger, or Richard as he proclaimed so proudly, couldn't be that dark hearted. No, it had to be false, no one was 'that' mean. no could possibly be that mean to actually play on their own. She denied the thoughts, she wouldn't listen to them even if her heart fluttered loudly against her ribcage.

Was this fear she was feeling? It couldn't have been, she didn't fear anything. There was nothing to fear, was there? the world was just one large flowery meadow that she could just run in and not care about anything... Wica shook her head, not wanting to think about the dark thoughts that were swarming her mind as she stepped back again, her wings flattening to her sides as to not get damaged.

"Richard?" She muttered turning her head just a little to see what might or might not have been behind her. "I'm.." She swallowed hard to get the lump out of her throat, "Wicapi Wakan, or just Wica for short." She smiled looking back toward the skinwalker, wondering why she had more so far into the trees to sleep.

He grinned, listening to her stammer, and shaking his head with a sigh.

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you Wica.. Glad to be of aquaitance with you. But now, my stomach is growling a little too much to concentrate anymore."

He didn't want to be around the meat bags anymore. They were food.. Talking to them, lowered his ideals and made him think with a little humanity, and he HATED that.

Growling a bit, he walked closer to her, the moon catching on his fangs, finally making them distinct.

His, stomach? What? She raised her head up and to the side a little, her eyes catching sight of the fangs. This making her eyes grow considerably larger then they had before. If she wasn't awake yet, she was now, completely awake and aware of what was going one around her. Her wings shuffling at her sides, she reared as he came closer to her.

"Stay back." She cried out as she swept to the side, minding to try and keep him within sights, yet still get away from him. "I'm sure there's someone else you can eat. Something less..." She didn't want to finish.

She didn't finish what she was going to say, she didn't even want think about someone eating another. Sweeping again to the side, toward where she thought to edge of the forest was located, with all the moving she couldn't really tell anymore. Taking a chance, she turned and fled, her ears turning back hoping that maybe what she had been talking to was just a figment of her imagination... She hoped...

Richard smiled, and lifted his head up,letting a howl caress the sky as his form seemed to lose its shape and become a considerably smaller, but more deadly creature. The wolf with his eyes so bright glared at the mare that had taken her leave of him.
He was hungry, and chases were okay with him.

He smiled again. Taking off after her, he howled as he ran again. His heavy paws hitting the earth in the same hoofprints of which she was leaving behind her.

He caught up quickly, being granted skill of speed with his curse. He roared a bit, and nipped at her leg, catching it firmly in his teeth, and trying to hold on,but her speed made him drop it. He picked up his pace, and went alongside her.

The howl chilled her and almost made her stop for a moment to look back, but she kept going forward. Thoughts running through her mind, thoughts of what happened. Thoughts of what was happening now and thoughts she didn't want to think about. She just ran, letting her hooves do all the thinking as she dashed through the trees, leaping over bramble, log and bush.

Another howl, more chills, these ones making her shiver and her steps fall unsteady before the correct themselves and she could hear the faint patter of, paws. Paws? Turning her head she looked back toward toward the advancing shadow. It was small and quick, barely turning her head forward she leaped over another log that happened to be in front of her. That was close, too close, but that shadow was closer.

"Ouch!" She cried suddenly bucking as the shadow had latched onto her leg and let go

Stumbling her pace slowed as she limped, the pain from her ankle now reaching her mind. A dull throb at the back of her head, it was going to really drag her down. Her blood was now in the air and she couldn't escape now. Breaking free from the trees and into the open, she caught sight of the shadow. A wolf, she had heard of such creatures, but never thought them to be true. Crying out again she opened her wings to try and take to the skies, to only crash to the ground in a mass of body and limbs.

Her sides heaving, she laid on her side, her eyes closed tightly. Was this... It?
