is the most useful party member?
I would say Basch and Ashe.
Basch had a lot of HP, good strength and defense. He was my tank. cool
Ashe had a fair amount of strength, HP and a lot of MP and I ran out of MP a lot so she was pretty useful. [:
Ashe's quickenings were amazing too. :0 Hers always came up.
Vaan's rarely did for me. emo And his quickenings were awesome too.

Balthier cause he was the strongest in my party and had the highest level. Fran cause she did most of the magicks and Ashe. she Cured the party. Penelo,Basch and vaan where my backup party

Vaan, Fran and Penelo were kind of my backup party.
Everyone on my game were around the same level though. They are all around lvl 65 now. c:

Nobody, so far, is more useful as an individual.
Penelo/ Basch were my brute strength members. I always had them in the middle of the battle hacking and slashing away.
Ashe/ Vaan were skilled in magic casting and strength and were more of the universal characters.
Baltheir/ Fran they were the far range fighters. Fran was also more of a magic caster. So when boss battles came along I always played as her healing all my characters.
So, perhaps Fran is my best character? I do wonder...

I find it interesting that you used Penelo as an up close hacking/slashing fighter. :0 Why did you choose her for that?

maybe it is just because i use balthier most, but he is my power character. i gave him the zodiac spear, and he is always my leader, so he takes down everything first. i also have everybody equipt with a bubble belt, because the embroidered tippet was getting annoying =_= and i was venturing into areas far too powerful for my characters current HP. hum... vaan actually has the most HP of my main party, in my second party ashe has the most HP. fran and penelo are my healers, and i have them focus on healing and removing ailments, though the others step in when things get a little rough. balthier and ashe only step in when things get really messy.
First party party: vaan, fran, balthier
Second party: basch, ashe, penelo
i am the kind of person who levels her party evenly, so all six are at the same level...

my party members are ashe <3 attack and support, vaan as a tank and penelo as supporter and healer too ^^' a little strage i know xD

All six are the same levels, but Basch was the best.
Although, I miss Larsa as the guest with his potions.

I think it's kinda hard going though the game without them all around the same level. I had to constantly take out people when they died because I was too lazy to buy Phoenix Downs and I didn't have the money. I spent it all on Armor and weapons.

I think Baltheir whee He is really good at dodging when I equip Demon Shield on him. But then Ashe is a really good at healing.

When using the license system I saw that all the character were all going more towards the magic skills and I fogot to explore the other end of the board. So, when Penelo joined the gang she has a lot of license points and many things she had to unlock. Therefore, moving on, she went towards the increased strength and high HP section and was therefore useful with close up battles. That has been her role ever since that day.
