The gray and pink haired child was, for the moment, alone in the compounds newest 'playroom.' Anticipation of the growing children's upcoming teenhood, or at least, preteenhood, a room with various sorts of electrical goodies had been implemented. In particular, due to much nagging from Noire and her father both, an electric guitar.
There was a stereo blasting a song Noire'd been listening to a lot - call it de ja vu of her homeworld. Sunny'd been teaching her guitar, and although it was painfully clear to anyone who had ears she was never going to be a fraction as talented or famous at it as he was, she could play well enough. So she did, along with the song, only it all crumbled the moment the vocals came in to play and her little girl voice squeeked out along with the words.
At least, if she had any merits, despite the gawky gray wings on her back, she could dance.
All that aside, this particular room was where Alistair and Talula were shuffling all the visiting children to the compound. Any kids dropping by for a visit, for babysitting, for an appointment - they'd all be directed there. Noire wasn't expecting anyone, obviously, but that didn't mean nobody would come...

Link was fairly sure that child-rearing was simply not for him. He was tempted to give back the kid to Terraform, but he wasn't sure how exactly to go about it. Not to mention the brat had already met Gwen, and she loved kids. Since Link knew he wasn't about to settle down with her anytime soon, at least she could live out her mother fantasies with Riff, decide it wasn't for her, and she'd never bug him about it again. Hopefully. Regardless, Gwen would kill him and give him some lecture about him children don't come with a return policy.
Luckily this one came with a daycare.
Trying to get Riff to "feel at home", Gwen had insited that Riff be taken out shopping, to get his own belongings. She had happily taken him out, and when he came back he looked like a child drag queen. Nevertheless, he would not be trusting the girlfriend with the kid alone for quite some time again. She thought it was cute, but Link felt like an idiot walking around with Riff. The blue-haired child didn't seem to actually notice that no one else was dressed like him. He was very proud that he had dressed himself so well. On the first time too!
"Okay, this is where you're going to be staying for the next few hours or so kid. I've got work to do. It's boring stuff for adults, so you're not missing a thing. Try not to destroy any electronic equipment here, I don't want to have to replace their nice new plasma screen TV in addition to teh one you broke at my house," Link sighed, brows furrowed, and rubbed his forehead, "I'm sure they have plenty for you to do here."
Patting Riff on the head absent mindedly, he ushering the boy into the room and took off, looking for a sign-in sheet or another adult to tell that Riff would be here for a bit.
As soon as Link walked away Riff immediately focused on Noire. She was the first person not in a tube that he had seen so far in his life that was close to his age. And she was making funny noises with the stringed thing. He openned his mouth to speak, but shut it after the uncharacteristic wave of shyness that passed over him. Instead, he walked over to Noire and sat himself in front of her, content to watch her strum the guitar and sing. Well, content for the moment.

The orange haired deaf thing at the compounds front office gave Link a happy wave and pointed at a piece of sign-in paper. "We will take good care of him." She said, speaking slowly, arabic accent heavy, and evidence she couldn't hear herself speaking louder than her words.
Noire, however, had no intention of putting on a show. She'd stopped singing when she saw the boy, and gradually stopped playing as well, setting the orange guitar down. Her lips pursed, and wings retracted tight in to a fold on her back, just as her arms folded. "Hey." She spoke, though her tone was unapproving. "When did you get here? I haven't seen you before.. you ain't a Terra too, are you?"
After that she took the next few moments to observe the boy, finding his outfit both ridiculous and disturbing and awesome both. She wasn't sure what to make of it yet, but she'd quickly decided this would either be yet another boy (or, was it even a boy? as if she knew) she'd hate, or one of the fewer she'd love.

Pointedly ignoring the strange woman, Link filled out the paper as fast as possible. He was already late and feared that Riff would get sudden seperation anxiety or break something before he could escape. The coast still clear, he exitted as quietly as possible. He was good at being quiet.
"I'm like you," Riff affirmed and grinned up at Noire. He wasn't sure how he knew, but he felt it. It was a strange feeling, but then again he was an alien baby who had been living in a tube for a hundred years or so. There were odder things.
As Noire paused and took him in, Riff returned the guesture. She wasn't as elaborately dressed as he was he noticed with disappointment, but her wings and funky stringed music stick made up for it. Riff would have to ask Gwen if he could get one of those when he went home later.
"Why'd you stop?"

"Uhm. Because you're here?" Her voice gave a 'duh' tone and she shook her head, taking her hat off as well. "No, you're not like me, we are just ... kinda like each other." She rolled her eyes. She was definitely not going to start relating to every other Terra, she wasn't the stupid ghost-boy, she wasn't Aricin, she was herself. From her own planet. DUH.
"My dad plays these for a living." She added, breaking an awkward silence before it could get a footing. "He used to be famous." She added proudly, hands going to her hips, "But then he got trapped on this stupid planet like we did. How much do you remember about where you came from?" She asked nosily, shuffling her feet a bit.

Riff didn't bother to hide his frown. What a dumb reason to stop. Riff decided not to voice it this thought, however truthful he believed it to be because Link told him people didn't like the truth. Riff didn't really understand that but the girl was already rolling her eyes at him, so he'd just keep it to himself.
But then the girl started taking to him again, and he was all to happy to respond. Shifting into a more comfortable position on the floor, Riff shrugged, "Not much. Everything's fuzzy. I haven't been awake that long though."
"Is your dad from where you are?" Eyeing the guitar again Riff continued, "Does he sing better than you do? You make better noise with that thing."

Noire opened her mouth to respond, only to snap it shut and glare at him. "Excuse me?!" She asked haughtily, crossing her arms. She knew she wasn't a great singer underneath it all, but to be told by some complete stranger who was dressed full of a weeks worth of snide remarks and everything was simply just.
She pursed her lips again. "He can sing okay, but he isn't the singer, his sister is. I'd like to hear you sing, then we can talk about funny." She snorted at him indignant like and then gave a heavy sigh. This was her part-time job, after all, madam welcome-wagon.
"No, he's not, everyone from where I'm at is dead." She blinked twice. "He's from where Alistair and Talula are, from a different dimension. Can you do anything cool?" She asked, referring to any 'abilities' he might have yet discovered. To embellish some, she opened one arm up and did a little 'twirly' with her finger, creating a inky black static-y like orb that disappeared a moment later.

Yeah, there was that issue with people not liking the truth again. Unable to hide a grin from spreading across his face, Riff attempted to look apologetic and failed terribly. It wasn't his fault her response had been so amusing. He hadn't expected her to taken it so personally.
"I never said I was good at singing," he protested. Truthfully Riff had no idea, as he had never sung before. He didn't know any songs, so it's not like he could even attempt to prove her wrong. He pursed his lips, immitating her irritated expression prettily. Riff liked her. She got worked up over little stuff, but wasn't mean about it or tell him to shut up like Link was and would.
"Oh," puzzled, he cocked his head slightly, "How do you know that they're dead if they're so far..." he trailed off as he watched the girl show off her ability. "I can't do anything like that," Riff replied reluctantly, irriated at the injustice of it. Maybe she couldn't sing well but that was pretty awesome.
"I can do things with stuff with electricity though. I tried to show Link but he yelled at me and said I was breaking his things."

"Ha! Another lightning boy. You are a boy, right? Are you gonna be a drag queen?" She asked him seriously, sitting down next to her guitar. One thing to be said for living with rockstars - kids learned terms faster than they ought to, usually the ronchy ones, and took even longer still to learn how to truly 'grow up.'
"Aricin can make lightning. He makes the lights explode or something stupid like that sometimes, too. Is that what you do?" She asked, stretching her feet out before her. Pink and black striped stalkings, maryjane black shoes and a frayed black denim skirt, a netted black outtershirt and pink tanktop underneath, complete with leather wrist bands and at least five earrings.. she could dress up with the best of them if you were going for a punk princessy look, she had no idea WHAT to call what Riff was going for.
Sensing his jealousy, if one could call it that, she smirked and made another orb again, "Wanna see what it can really do? Can't say it'll be a pleasant discovery, but it's kinda cool when you get used to it."

"Of course I'm a boy," came Riff's indignant, sputtering reply. Drag Queen? He had heard Link say something about those after Gwen had taken him shopping. Though Riff had no idea what they actually were, he could tell from Link's tone of voice that he probably did not want to be one.
"Only girls can be queens," Riff said cautiously, just in case he actually was a drag queen and didn't know it. That would be embarassing, after all. Good thing he had met this girl, she was teaching him more about this planet than anyone else had so far and that included fashion sense. Everyone else was dressed so plainly. Sure, she wasn't dressed as well as he was, but her clothes were much better than everyone else's boring clothes. She even had more earings than he did! Admittedly, they weren't gold, but it was a start.
Wondering vaguely who Aricin was, Riff shook his head, "No, I can't do that. I guess it's not really electricity I do stuff with, it's stuff that runs on it."
Riff's curiousity was much more pressing than any feeling of foreboding he might have gotten from her warning. Watching her play around with the orb, he grinned and nodded, "Yeah, I want to see. "

Noire grinned widely. As of yet, nobody'd willingly let her throw an orb at them. She'd thrown them at her brother so many times he'd started having nightmares everytime the tv turned on to static late at night, once at her dad when he wouldn't let her have a pony (that didn't end well to say the least) and at least a handful of times at Aricin just for ticking him off. This would be fun, but she almost felt guilty, as though every other time she hadn't.
"Well, okay then." She swiveled her hand forward and the orb followed pace, racing across the space between them till it would make contact with the boy should he have stayed in position. Had it hit, the feeling the orb created on contact with skin was something strange indeed- a 'wrong' feeling, like a premonition when walking down a dark ally all alone, but there was an eerie feeling of belonging despite the minor pain and major discomfort it brought.
"Whatcha think?" She asked impishly, if he'd expressed anything but discomfort and pain she'd of been absolutely floored. "And no, not all queens are girls. Drag queens are guys who dress like girls, I think they are usually gay, too, but I dunno." She shrugged. "Half the other boy Terra are drag queens too, or at least GONNA be, so you ain't that special buddy."

Riff, of course, had not realized just what he was asking for. By the time he realized that the girl was throwing the orb at him, it was too late to get out of its way. Hitting him squarely in the chest, he squeaked in a mix of suprise, discomfort, and pain.
"You didn't say you were gonna hit me with it. Don't ever do that again," Riff fixed her with a dark look as he stood up awkwardly. He shuddered involuntarily, as if his body was trying to shake of the lingering feeling of whatever it was she had done to him. "What is that black stuff anyway?" Even now, his curiosity seemed to be blanketing his anger at the girl.
Men who dressed like women? Well he certainly wasn't dressed like a woman. Most of the women he had seen were on television. They liked dancing to loud thumping music and didn't wear very much clothing. Inspecting his outfit, he was sure he hadn't seen any women dressed like him.
Raising an eye brow, Riff asked "Are the other Terras gay then?" Hopefully she'd clue him in on what that meant too. Asking her directly would be admitting ignorance, and he didn't want her to think he was stupid.

(( DONT HATE ME IM POSTING NOW ALRIGHT DX ))
Noire tossed her weight to one side and smirked impishly. "Hmph." She responded, head cocking to the same side. "Shoulda asked before then, huh? I will if I feel like it, buddy! It's a natural defense mechanism! You do somethin bad to me, you pay! Better to learn that ASAP." She nodded knowingly, quickly trying to snatch up authority and power.. obviously.
"It's anti-matter. Or dream somethin another. OR black matter. Or negative energy. OR creepy-magic! Take your pick!"
She dropped her attitude filled stance with a sigh and walked closer to the blue haired one, walking around him in a circle for a round. "Uh, I dunno. Ask em yourself, I guess... you think you are, then?" She grinned, looking him over again. "I could give you some pointers if' ya' want!"
