Orson Scott Card is one of the greatest sci-fi writers out there, in my opinion. He wrote the Ender's Game Series, the Shadows series, and a whole bunch of noninterconnnected novels.
Personally, I think the Ender series is my favorite. Ender's Game itself is a good read, but not especially spectacular - however, Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide are excellent. Children of the Mind is marvellous, but it goes on for awhile and is a bit droning.
Questions:
Have you ever read OSC's novels? Which ones? Do you like / hate them?

I began reading Ender's Game and hadn't stopped, till the end. And characters are unable to live forever (..except in our dreams), so it's hardly a spoiler to let readers know that Andrew passes on, before the conclusion of this epic tale. This is the moment, when I found myself disassociating from the storyline.
The final novels definitely have a story to share, but frozen embryos, a rapid lifespan, and this sense of an imminent threat comes across as being rather mundane, as opposed to the earlier adventures of such a remarkable journey.
But, regardless of the shifts of literary pace, I'll never regret having given this author a chance, to hit this home run and find a place in my heart, for years to come. Why don't you give it a try and who knows? You might find a new universe, to explore.

I LOVE Orson Scott Card!!! I read Enders Game and now I'm on Speaker for the Dead! I thought Enders Game was one of the best books I've EVER read! =D I liked how in the end of the book, you found out that he was leading starships the WHOLE time! Sorry if I'm spoiling it for anybody.... LOL!

I can't say I've gotten the chance to read the Ender series, but I did get to read the side plot series Ender's Shadow and most of its sequel book. Honestly it was great and I realy haft to give the auther credit. And the video game he wrote, Advent Rising was great too. ^_^

I first read Ender's Game a couple of years ago, and I absolutely loved it! Went on to read Xenocide, and I can't remember if I got around to Speaker for the Dead (my library didn't have it). I also loved Ender's Shadow.
OSC has done some other (non-Ender) books, too... I read Lost Boys, and I'm sorry to say I can't recommend it. It seriously creeped me out, like to the point that I couldn't sleep.
