Yea we were marching down a steep hill and someone dropped a drum stick, which led to someone tripping over the drum stick and led to a chain reaction of people falling over each other. It was kinda sad considering it was during a parade and a float almost ran into the pile of people...

A friend of mine was going on a crazy drum solo, and when he hit his hi-hat, it broke.

I've been in several...
The times that our director tried to run us down while pulling our pit instruments...
Me almost losing control of the xylophone and nearly killing a parked car...
Me and a senior pit player nearly getting run over by the drumline...
Oh, and the vibraphone's resonater tubes falling out for about a week until we stuffed paper in the place of a missing part that holds them in...
Yeah, our band's percussion is kinda...insane.

Oh! I have a classic one... So we were at this pep band game and had all the snares set up on one of the bleachers. So when the people started arriving and sitting down before we were going to play, someone knocked over a snare drum and it rolled down the bleachers. Our director laughed and said it was a real "drum roll"!

ive never been in one, but last year during all one of our bass drummers fell during a practice, and the winter percussion season previous, one of the snares fell down the stairs at a competition, broke her leg if i remember correctly, i wasnt there to see it but i heard about it...
and it sucks being in percussion in a school district thats poor as hell, or maybe its just we dont get money? ya i think thats what it is... stare
our rival school gets good instruments and good money when we dont even get enough money for a set of snare heads.... eek stare
so ya, we are one of those "insane" drumlines...
our chimes have at least 2 missing tube things (can think of what theyre called), one is being held on by string, and the pedal to our vibes keeps falling off....and thats just the tip of it all...

heh, my accident isn't as hilarious as most of urs has....
in fact, it kinda boring now that i think of it....oh well mrgreen
during a performance, i was playing chrash cymbals, on the switch to the next song, i was supposed to change to maracas (lots of percussion instruments to play, 3 percussionists, yea, it sucks... rolleyes ). i almost crashed them, ruining the whole song when i noticed i had 2 play maracas....
boring isn't it? sweatdrop

Well lets see. We kept breaking the mallets, a mallet head even flew off in the middle of a competition. We broke the string on the marimba holding the sharp and flat keys. Then we were at a sectional and someone opened a monster and it got over just about every pit instrument except the timpani. We all ran to grab towels but we didnt have any so some of the guys just took their shirts off to attempt to save the marimba. We dropped two cymbals during a parade, one didnt fall the person caught it, then the other one fell and it actually hit the ground and the person stopped, then picked it up, and this happened right before we were about to get out of the judging zone.

Oh, and we were getting up for the Star Spangled Banner at a football game and one of the bass drums knocked her drum slightly and was diving to catch it. XDD Nobody would let her live it down for the rest of the night.

Wow you guys have had quite a few....are percussionists just accident prone?
I also had another when we started marching. someone had put a bass drum down and I forgot it was there, and then we started the song and the bass drummer hadn't returned so I started marching and totally tripped over it because I couldn't see it onder my own drum. I nearly fell over.
I've also slipped down an icy hill while still managing to carry my drum. I don't know how I pulled that off.
I think that's about it for me though.

Well we have 2 mallets and im one of them. our tenor harness was broken so we had a wagon pull chairs down to our practice area and they started pushing me in the wagon cuz mallets dont play for like 6 messures. They pushed me to hard and i got to fly onto the cemen out of the wagon.

my worst one was during a concert. i was on timpani...there were 3 and i had to tune. then, after i finished tuning, i noticed the whole band was waiting for me. wat made it worse was that my music book wouldnt open...and it kept on falling of the stand..so the conducter had to stall sweatdrop
