Does anyone have any plans for their 2008 novel yet?
I think I may go for a super hero story next time. Maybe revise the Marvel Hellions team from the 1980s.

That sounds cool. I've always wanted to do a superhero novel.
I'll probably play next year by ear. Nov '08 is pretty close to the March '09 publication date of my novel, so I might be busy with promotion and stuff ^_^ I'll try, though.

*posts even though no one comes here anymore*
I'm thinking about a novel I may write this November. I've got half a plot, maybe, some characters, sorta, and a title: Mephisto.
Only the title is definite so far. sweatdrop

I think I've revised my plans for this year's novel. The title is now * drum roll *
Micronation Pacifica
It is a story about a reality TV show of the same name. A group of people fed up with life in America give up their citizenship to join a new colony set up on a converted cruise ship (or perhaps an old container ship).
The series is broadcast 24/7 via a series of internet channels with colonists wearing tracers that allow viewers to follow their favorites as they move in and out of range of thousands of cameras set up all over the ship. Sort of like the movie The Truman Show.
Viewers can buy autographed items from the colonists and do their own screen captures that, for a price, can be printed out onto posters, calendars, screen savers and more.
It may turn into a mystery if a murder occurs on the ship, or an adventure if a typhoon strikes or modern pirates attack. All the while a side story back in civilization follows efforts to get the micronation recognized as an independent country by other nations.

Mine is going to be a sequel to last year's novel.
I already have the title and characters down right now. All I need is the plot, which I'll make up after I go through last year's novel to make sure I don't tear open any plotholes.

I'm already stressing about this year's novel. I've got two ideas, but one might conflict with something I'm already writing... and it's naturally the one I'm more interested in. stressed
To make things more interesting I'm getting married on Halloween, so for the first week of November I'll be on my honeymoon.

I'm living with false hope
And my eyes just want to see a ray of light
I'm gonna find it in my fairy tale...
I got this idea when I was looking through a book of different character types and such... I just oped to three random pages and got "Demon", "Princess", and "Assassin". So I made a character who was all three and thought of a few ideas about how she got to be that way.
I've tried NaNo the past two years and never got past 17,000 words... but this year I'll try writing every day starting before November (on another topic, of course), so I won't be just entering cold.

A Demon Princess Assassin sounds so cool and manga-ish. Good luck. cheese_whine

I'm going to go with an idea that I've had for years and... never actually gotten around to working on. It was kind of built more around a certain character, and the plotline kind of followed... it might work better as a video game or something. sweatdrop I only recently got a name for my other main character, but I know everything else about her already. I just... need to come up with names for most everyone and a title. My plot is still kind of vague, but knowing me, I'll easily find something to reach the 50k mark.
Anyway, it's a combination sci-fi/fantasy, I think, and I haven't quite decided as to whether it will become a "legend" of their world or just... a regular story.

Hmmm, so far for my story I have a ship, a rough location (near Johnston Atoll) and a handful of characters. No plot or dramatic problem yet. I need to goof off at work more so I have time to think. sweatdrop

Gah, I can't believe NaNo's coming up so soon! D: I completely forgot about it until an hour or so ago when I saw the thread in WF.
I have no idea what I'll write about (considering I even get past three days, unlike last year). I guess I'll go through old ideas until I find an appealing one, unless one magically hits me in the face before November.

Turns out I'm not as busy as I'd thought I'd be, lol. I'm just going to to use one of the unused options for last year's NaNo. It's already plotted, characterized, outlined and everything.
The native people on a tropical island live in a unique community divided into tahni and tanui. The tahni are the warriors, fishermen, hunters and are weresharks. The tanui are the homemakers, weavers, they raise the children and are human. When Kota reaches the age of choice, he chooses to become a tanui and catches the eye of a handsome tahni warrior.
It's a gay romance featuring sand, sun, surf, weresharks, boys in dresses, and a few steamy jungle sex scenes. Sounds like a typical NaNo to me, lol!

I'm having so much trouble trying to decide what to do for NaNo this year. I want to do either the sequel to last years unfinished story or something with the Salem Witch trials.
I was think like the daughter of a woman who was given a year to live because she was pregnant (true person, i'm not making this up) and was hung when her child was 3 months old. Then i was gonna have her child actually become a witch and make a pact with the devil to destory Salem as revenge for hanging both her parents.
If you actually want to know who her parents are, they are John and Elizabeth Proctor. If you have read The Crucible by Arthur Miller, then these names should be familiar. But they are also real people who were killed during the Trials.
