Hi, I just started playing the cello. I was wondering if anyone else played the instrument. So...is there anyone?

Cello is my life, I don't even let people touch him [steve the cello]. I've been playing for half a year but I don't suck, in april i'm playing St. Paul's Suite along with people in Rainier Symphony, people from our orchestra is going to join them once a year.

I play cello! I have for about 5 years. And, Nifty Fact! My great aunt did in high school too! Stick with it, even though they're heavy and clumsy when you move them around, they're important to the orchestra. @ nachowarsatnight: You named yours Steve? I named mine Bubblebuddy (or rather, my neighbor's 3 year old daughters did)

blaugh I named my cello Arcturus. I wanted to be unique. It was either Arty, or Jef-fa-fuh Dun-HAM. Dot com. xD
Oh, I agree. Cello makes girls amazing. Violins and violas make you look fat cause they're so tiny. We cellists look good next to our cellos. Even though they're big, they're amazing. xD

I suppose it is possible to do it without an instructor, although it might make more sense so you can get an idea of where you put your fingers for certain notes. There's probably websites that can help you read bass clef, or maybe even a beginner cello book.

I agree with Toucheh, but I advise trying to find a teaher if you can. Reading treble cleft is hard for me, which is bad, since I sing alto (Treble cleft) and I play Cello... sweatdrop
Plus, we have to learn intervals for finals. I HATE IT. scream
