There's all the hype about Christmas and it was all fine and dandy and then today my cousin went and died. Yup. . . I prob'ly should be upset but I didn't really know her. Anyway, point is it's a kick in the unsuspecting pedestrian.

Thanks, but like I said I'm not really bothered. Yes, it sounds heartless but, like I said, I didn't really know her. She had sistic fibrosis and she was lucky to live as long as she did. People with SF are lucky to get to the age of 30 but she would have been 40 in February.

Wow, that actually isn't too bad considering the circumstances. It is sad that she died though.

Interesting, your cousin was about two years younger than my parents. Just thought I'd point that out for kicks and giggles.

Wow.
Your cousin fought a long time.
And I know how you feel...
I've had "family members" die who I didn't even really know.
Here's the kicker:
My ******** step father always expected me to be shook up about it.

I wasn't affected too much when my great grandparents passed away since I didn't really know them that well. Sounds like everyone has that type of situation every now and then.

Even over people you didn't know that well? Wow.

Death always saddens me, I guess I have such an appreciation for life that I feel for most every death. I do believe in reincarnation, though, so I have to remind myself that death is only an illusion and make myself feel better.

I haven't gone through too many personal deaths. The first I can remember was my grandfather. I just know that he had to get his leg cut off for some reason during his life. I was too little to remember much how or when he died. All I know is that, back then, I believed in heaven, and wasn't sad very much at all. I didn't know him too well; he lived in Samoa. Another was Bert, I used to think he was my uncle, but he wasn't related. He was a state trooper and died in a car chase. That was really sad, when he died. Another was my sister's friend, Sarah Fox. She was murdered a couple years back. ... and this year, on my birthday, Kimchee died. He was a cat, but he was my best friend, truly. All of my other cats had died when I was little, but he lived to nineteen, 99 in cat years, and I knew him all my life. That was the hardest for me. I loved him more than anyone else, him and my mother. ... I already told her that she's never going to die.

Yeah, he was really sick for a long time, though. Maybe he's a lion now. :')
