The snow was rather deep on the meadow and wading through it was tough going for the little usdia. She picked up her legs as high as possible to carve a path through the crunchy snow. She now regretted leaving the sheltered confines of the forest.
She managed to make her way into the trees and the snow seemed to almost instantly recede. Needless to say walking was far easier now and she picked up her pace. She wasn't sure where she wanted to go. She took in a mouthful of snow and allowed it to melt before swallowing it. To go home, or not to go home? She knew the forest like the bottom of her hoof but if she wasn't careful she could still get lost.
The snow picked up and swirled about her, chilling her to the bone. Winters back home were brutal and the winters away from the palefaces were starting to give them a run for their money. She did not fancy the cold in the least. All she needed was a blinding snow storm and a puma after her. That'd be lovely and in this forest, it could happen.
As she got farther into the forest the trees sheltered her from the brunt of the wind and snow. The squirrel trails were hard to find anymore under the snow but the bear and deer trails were easy as ever. She noticed a a few carefully snapped branches. It seemed two-leggers had been out hunting today. She wondered if Ayashe, the woman she lived with, had been among them.

Cold, wet, snow clear up to her belly and matting within her tail that dragged behind her. Could the weather get any worse then it was? Of course it could as she tripped over something hidden in the snow. Falling face first into a deeper snowdrift which brought streams of curses from her mouth.
"Fragging snow, I wish it would just go away and leave me in peace!" She shouted dragging herself back to her hooves.
The pale lavender mare shook the snow from her mane and tail the best she could as she pushed on soon coming to the trail of another. Curiouser, looking from one direction to the other, Lickety crossed into this other trail and it made for better walking. It seem to lead where the snow was lesser, perfect. Finally she could get out of the snow, the wind and somewhere, where she could at least get the stupid snow OUT of her tail.
But she had to wonder what had made the path she was now following. She looked back the way she had come, the path she had carved and the current one she was in, but shook the thoughts off as she entered the more sheltered area of the trees. Finally, somewhere not so... Wet.
"Finally, somewhere less wet, and I can finally get this f@cking snow out of my tail." She cursed, though stopped, it would seem that Noir's vulgar ways had somewhat rubbed off on her...

Flower stopped when she heard a voice behind her. The mare turned to see who it was and was surprised to see a usdia mare. She had yet to meet a female of her species. While she didn't care for the mare's coarse speech there might be something to be said for introducing one's self.
She cleaned the snow of her her mane and tail, most of it had melted all ready and walked over to the mauve coloured female. "A-Allo there." She said with a soft smile. Her laid back English accent paired with a rich bar intone was clearly not something one came across every day. She hadn't encountered anyone who cursed about something that seemed so trivial besides her father but wouldn't let that prejudice her against the other mare.
After all she could be having a horrid day but be otherwise splendid company. Or so she told herself.

Ears turning forward as she heard the footsteps and the voice of another, behind her. Turning quickly and tossing snow from her tail as she turned, Lickety face face to face with another mare of her own species. Though this was black in color with white down its back. Oh it looked horrid to be of such a dark color with just w strip of white. Sqrunching up her nose a little, Lickety-Split pulled herself up high as if she were better then the other.
"Hello." She muttered losing her composure and just standing there staring, before going back to shaking the snow from her tail. "Blasted stuff." She muttered more to herself then anyone else.
Winter did seem to hate her, her bathing spot was frozen over. Food was scarce and what was worse, the snow was always getting into her hair, in more ways then one. She was ready for it to melt away and warm up again, she wanted it to be spring already.

When the mare went back to cleaning her tail she lifted an eyebrow. 'Okay...maybe this wasn't one of my best ideas.' She thought dryly. "I-I'm glad t-to k-know I'm n-not the only o-one w-who's ready for s-s-spring." She said, mentally cursing herself for stuttering. Really, this mare didn't seem friendly at all. 'Cross at the world,'' seemed to be a far better description. Best to make lemonade from lemons as the old mantra goes.

It did seem that both wanted spring to come, Lickety wished that it never ended. Then she didn't have to trudge through belly deep snow and mess up her hair... When it's longer it would be a bigger problem. Shaking her head as most the snow and ice was melted from her tail, it felt a bit lighter.
"Yea I'm ready for Spring to come any time now. then I can bath for once instead of rolling in this crap." She kicked at the snow, glowering at it. "I would rather had water then frozen water."
Shaking her head again, Lickety looked back at the other mare, watching her, observing. They weren't that much different in size at least, but everything else was different, color and personality wise... stepping off to one side she huffed and sat beneath a snow covered tree.
"Winter always comes at a bad time, always." She sighed for once looking out toward the ever white and still whitening landscape, could things have gotten worse?

"W-Winter itself is a bad time." She said, not to correct the other mare but to state and opinion. "Especially w-when i-it's easier for predators t-to t-t-track you." She had enough issues with bears and pumas as it was. Winter was the only time she wished she were bigger.
"O-Oh, how r-rude of me! I-I'm Flower...I-I must say y-your the f-first Usdia mare I-I've come across." She said, ears perking a bit more than they had been. "M-Might I ask y-your name?" She said, always miss manners.
Most of the time.

A brow raised as she listened to this mare's stuttering. It was a wonder that anyone, let along herself to understand this one. Shaking her head she brushed it off as she spoke about winter being a bad time with the easy ability for the predators to track them though the snow... That was true, she was having problems with the blasted things.
"I've always got wolves on my trails. It's a wonder they haven't tried coming closer then they have." She shrugged. "My name's Lickety-Split." She nodded...

"P-Pleasure Lickety." She said with a nod. "Y-Yes, I've h-had a run in o-or two w-w-with pumas. R-right nasty creatures." She said with distaste. "One a-almost got m-me a while b-back. I-If it w-wasn't f-for that courageous s-stallion I'd m-most likely be dead." She explained. Well, she had just run out of things to say. The feelings rolling off of this mare were less than pleasant, but she had to remind herself that others probably felt that way around her as well if she were to have a bad day or something.
