It was training time for Raleigh. After his incident with the mall, he'd received numerous lectures on top of the jail time and the large bill he was given that he'd have to earn the money somehow to pay back. Today, finally, he would be heading to an actual training session with someone who never did make mountains out of mole hills. It was a promise of getting back to his powers without having to be treated like a juvenile delinquent.

When he arrived, Susan was just strapping up her boots. She smiled up at him, "I've already piled the materials you use up. We can get started as soon as Ace comes out. You know Ace, don't you?"

That was new, usually Susan went out with him to decide on what materials they would use. Today she wanted to get started quicker.

"YEAH?" A call came from the hallways somewhere.

"I wasn't calling you, but are you coming?" Susan called back, some annoyance tinting her voice. She hated it when people weren't there when she expected them to be.

"I'm here, I'm here." The sixteen year old with bleached-blonde hair and black and purple tips stepped out, not really in a training outfit. He grinned broadly at Raleigh and waved, "Heya! How are you? Are you excited? I am!"

"We found out that Ace has power-enhancing abilities," Susan explained to Raleigh before he could demand to know what was going on, "Do you think the two of you can try teaming up a bit?" Of course, with Susan, asking the question was only a preliminary to logicking into her way anyhow if denied, it was easier to just give into the trainer.

OOC: Ace has power enhancing abilities AND he tends to enhance the emotions of others if he is also feeling that emotion, although no one's figured out the latter part. Ace is exciteable and happy go lucky and throws caution to the wind, and those are the qualities he tends to enhance... But only IF they also feel any of those, and we can ignore the emotional side of his powers right now.

The reaction to his mission at the mall and the events proceeding it had not been good at all. At the time Raleigh hadn’t really realized how his actions may have been viewed, and had simply done what he believed was right, and so had defended his actions. He still stubbornly believed he had done no wrong.

When he arrived at the training grounds he was glad to find that everything was comfortable and they were going to get straight to business. Raleigh felt himself relax; he hadn’t quite realized how tense he had been. This was a welcome chance just to train and forget everything else.

All was ready? Well, at least they could get started right away. “Right. Yeah, I know him.” Not very well of course. They hadn’t said more than two words to each other but Raleigh could pick him out of a crowd if he had to.

When Ace came into the room gushing happy energy, Raleigh gave him a nod. “I’m sure I can manage that.” Taking off his jacket he cast it aside, so that he was just in comfortable black slacks and a white sleeveless top.

“Let’s get started.”

Susan nodded her approval even as Ace clapped his and half turned, half hopped toward the training grounds, "I dunno how this works, really. It was an accident that we found out and I was super excited about it at the time. Susan's kinda showed me how to focus a bit, but it's not like I know really what's even going on. THEY all say that I do something, but I don't see it."

"You won't have any problems with it," Susan shook her head at him, "You're so wound up about this that the energizer bunny has nothing on you." She nodded to Raleigh, "Which means you'll need to be careful, I suppose. We've pushed your abilities before, but with Ace the concentration and effort isn't required nearly as much. I think it'll be interesting to see what Yasou can turn out like eventually." She doubted that Raleigh would be willing to give his favorite creation as a first experiment, but what she was suggesting was that it shouldn't take too much training between him and Ace before he might be comfortable with that.

"So, what are we doing anyway?" Ace demanded, eyes lit up from excitement.

Susan nodded her head toward Raleigh, "What would you feel comfortable with?" She knew her trainee, and knew that he like to have some autonomy in what was going on. "Do you want to try to build your powers, or refine them? Or something else?"

Raleigh listened while nodding occasionally. So, Ace would be able to enhance his abilities? Well now, that was something to get excited over. This would be a great chance to see what exactly he could do and what power he could hope to have in future years.

He cracked his knuckles as he thought over Susan’s question. “I have yet to manage the use of stone in my creations. It doesn’t mix well with the other materials. Perhaps we could give that a go? At the moment I’ve been focusing on the anatomy of my creatures, how they fit together and what they can actually do. The bigger something is the less detail it has… unless of course I’ve already created it before and worked on it.”

Raleigh frowned. “I guess I just want to see what sort of creation I can manage with a power boost. I also need to consider my different opponents. Everything I made was useless against the water evo. Could I possible create a creature that could swim… or even fly?”

He stopped talking and gave a short bark of laugher. “Hey, am I making sense? Let’s get started and we’ll work from there.” He began to walk towards the training grounds, fishing an elastic band from his pocket along the way and tying his hair up into a ponytail.

"Stone? Can you use dirt?" Ace asked, "'Cause I bet you could---What?"

"Honey, don't be presumptuous. I don't think you know more about Raleigh's powers than he does. He would know very well the relationship between stone and dirt. Now, having said that-- have you experimented much with bird and aquatic animals' remains?" Susan asked. "I imagine Yasou wasn't good for being wooden in nature. You'd likely need something with a tight skin for water."

"So, let's go big!" Ace had only momentarily given Susan a look for scolding him so quickly, but now ignored the discussion of possibilities of powers completely, "I wanna see something awesome-big. Can you do that? Can you make something like a dinosaur? That would be neat!"

Raleigh stared at Ace for a minute and then decided to answer. “Yes. I can use dirt… and sand. Stone is difficult because it is one solid mass, it’s harder to… penetrate, I suppose.”

Turning back to Susan he gave a brief shake of his head. “I haven’t really experimented much with any types of remains… except for the occasional mouse that Samurai brings home.” He gave a small chuckle. “Hm, there had better be a lot of material if we’re going to make a dinosaur.”

"We can do a little dinosaur."

"You should try chicken bones or something when you have that for dinner. Leftovers of any type would be good, actually." Susan spoke to Raleigh, but her gaze fell to Ace and she shook her head slightly again. When she looked back to Raleigh -- quickly -- her serious look fell away to amusement at his excitement, "I don't know, maybe we should cancel this, you don't sound up to it really, Raleigh."

"Don't tease! Fine, I'll shut-up! Geez."

Susan nodded to Raleigh as they walked up to the pile, indicating that he should take charge now. It was his powers they were playing with afterall.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 27, 2007 2:33 am

“Chicken bones?” Raleigh blinked and then groaned mentally. Oh, he felt like an idiot. “I didn’t even think of that. “I’ve never even thought of that, using the bits of an animal should be much easier than the whole corpse. s**t.” He shook his head slowly. “Alright, I’ll work on that.”

At her nod he approached the pile. “I’ve actually been studying the ape section of my anatomy book. I wanted something that could manipulate tools with more ease.” Not to mention more easily keep Ai out of harms way. “We’ll start with that.”

Raleigh let out a soft voice and focused on the pile. The power came easily, without much prompting on his part. His mind grabbed the various pieces he would need, automatically grabbing the most useful bits and ignoring the others. The various materials began to twist together, wood being the predominantly used item once more, forming a creature that reached just below his chest.

It looked like an orangutan, with its hunched back and long arms, but with a more dog-like head.

“Easy stuff. We’ll use this as a base.” Raleigh placed his hands on his hips and regarded the beast before him. “I used wood mostly again, simply because I need a more solid base. Anything made out of just leaves or sand would be too easily destroyed.”

Susan smirked a little at Raleigh as she saw that look in his eyes. She didn't do it on purpose, but it was always amusing to get one over on the boy. She watched as he created the ape-creature, ignoring Ace for the moment. She knew that he'd end up initializing his powers purely by accident. They didn't know enough about him to really know how to get him to focus yet. It was an extremely subtle power.

Whether or not Ace was using his powers only Raleigh would be able to tell. He hadn't learned how to feel or refine his yet. He only stopped his babbling now to look and watch in wonder as the creature formed. That was so very neat! And he could be a part of that? Really? He'd always wanted to be a Super, and enhancing abilities was like... doubly awesome on that! He wondered how he could do it though, Raleigh seemed to already have so much control.

OOC: As it goes, Ace is super excited, you can give Raleigh a sudden power blast... which isn't so bad with his powers, which is why Susan asked Raleigh and not..oh, Erol... or you can have him notice how it's easier to go with the details or the like? Perhaps Ace could hint at a later secondary power with him? Being able to directly control the animals or the like? Did you have a secondary?
PostPosted: Thu Dec 27, 2007 3:58 pm

Ooc: Actually there is no secondary... yet. xP Er.. yeah. Couldn’t think of anything I guess.

Could be something like being able to see through the eyes of his creations or enter their body for a bit. Or just communicate with them. Would be good for spying jobs.

Okay, Raleigh’s gonna have some fun. I hope this is okay. XD

----

It looked good. For a creation that hadn’t had much thought put into it, it looked really good. Raleigh cast a sidelong glance at Ace. Was the kid doing his job? Raleigh still had his connection open with the creature but it certainly wasn’t sapping his energy as much. After a moment thought he closed his eyes and focused on drawing his energy back.

The ape beast crumpled back into its materials and Raleigh felt its loss.

“Hm…” Raleigh gave an odd little smirk. “Let’s try for quantity.” If Ace’s powers were working this should be… easy, right? He focused again and every piece of material was gathered up in his mind. The power flowed smoothly and Raleigh was pleasantly surprised at its apparent inexhaustibility.

He spread the power out and then gave a command. Creating more than one at a time was a difficult venture as it was hard to create the specific details and it snapped his power considerably. The materials shifted and formed into a countless horde of creatures about the size of Raleigh’s palm, coming into being with only a slight push on his part.

It was a bit like trying to juggle a hundred balls at a time, but he found himself capable of it.

Raleigh let the connection drop and they began scuttling over each other, covering the middle of the training crowds in a moving lump of ‘things’.

OOC: *nod* Those would be good, and I was thinking that "being" one of the creations, not changing himself but sort of literally being able to sense and guide through one would be interesting as well?

IC:

"That ape was weird, look at those things!!" Ace ignored everything he'd ever been told and went up to kneel near them to stare. That was so funny! "What's the best thing you ever made? These are creepy, they're like... the living dead or something. Hah, zombie sticks! The world never knew is wasn't undead men, but undead plants they had to worry about!"

He turned to look at Raleigh, a big grin spread on his face, "We should make a UTube movie or something."

"Is Ace putting any effort forth to help you at all?" Susan asked with a sigh. She would guess so, Raleigh didn't look as concentrated as usual, "Ace, are you concentrating at ALL?"

She kept herself from rolling her eyes when Ace looked guilty. What sort of attention span did he have, anyway?
PostPosted: Thu Dec 27, 2007 4:31 pm

Ooc: Sounds good. ^-^ I'll start some serious thinking on it

---

Raleigh knelt down and put a hand out. One of the swarm detached itself room the other and crawled into his hand. Raleigh stood and looked it over. It looked like a scorpion and had nasty looking little nippers.

Usually such a number would be less likely to listen to any of commands. “Line up!” Raleigh barked out a sharp order, his grip tightening around the one in his hand to make sure it knew to stay where it was. “Five lines.”

The creations began scrambling along the ground, lining up together. A few of them scuttled across Susan and Ace’s shoes, apparently annoyed there was a blockage in their path. A few seconds later they were all neatly lined up across the training room floor.

That Ace was an odd guy. What was he babbling about? “He’s helping… quite a bit actually.”

Susan was impressed, usually that amount started to run around like chickens with no heads, "I can see. I wonder how it would be if, oh, he actually concentrated on what he was doing." She glared at Ace.

Ace huffed, "Don't get all bent up about it. Didn't you hear him? I am doing something! I dunno what, I dunno how...How do you concentrate on something that you don't really know exists? I STILL think you're pulling a big joke on me. Can't wait to April to see if my theory's right or not. Uhm..." And then he did try to concentrate, trying to imagine Raleigh as the big master of twigs and all the twigs bowing to his will. Or something. Yeah, he didn't think it'd help either. . .
PostPosted: Thu Dec 27, 2007 4:52 pm

With his new unlimited amount of energy, supplied by Ace, he decided to play a bit. He gathered two different groups of ten, grabbing the separate creations and merging them together. Two cats rose up amongst the mass of scorpions. One sat there staring at nothing and the other bounded its way over to Raleigh’s side.

“Heh.” Raleigh nudged it with his foot. “I’ve never felt anything like this before. I don’t feel tired at all. Something like that should have left me reeling.” He looked at Ace, while placing his scorpion on his shoulder.

“Can’t you feel your powers? A part you lurking just beneath the skin.”

"SO COOL! I can't believe that I'm really helping you that much I---" He stopped at Susan's clearing of the throat, and then considered what Raleigh had asked. He shook his head slightly, "Not---not something in me so much. I--" He frowned, a hint of embarrassment hitting his cheeks. Nah, he wasn't going to say that. That was stupid. "I just like powers." He said.

"It's not entirely uncontrolled," Susan decided to put in, "When he gets upset with me, he sure stops supplying then, so it's not a default power."
