It wasn’t a typical midwinter day, cloudless and sunny with an occasional chilling wind. Snow had fallen the night before leaving the fields covered in a blanket of white. Adaya trudged through the world of white, each hoof all crunching crisply. After a while Adaya came to a fart of the field where the snow was beginning to melt in the sunlight. She shoved some snow about with her white-blue nose to reveal a pitiful tuft of grass. She frowned. Grudgingly she began to eat.

Ayidan trotted along through the field, looking around in wonder at the snow. He just wasn't used to it, but it really was pretty! He was so lost in how the sun sparkled on the snow that he didn't notice the mare in his path, and bumped right into her. "AH! Oh... Oh! I... I... I.... I'm s.... suh... suh... Sorry! I... duh... didn't s... suh... see you thu... thu... there!"

Adaya stumbled a bit away from the stallion. "Hey!" She exclaimed as she dropped the grass she was eating from her mouth. Needless to say she was a little irked at the stallion. Adaya raised her head quickly and got eye to eye with the stallion; completely ignoring his personal boundaries she berated him. "What on earth do you think you were doing?! Did no one teach you how to walk? How could you not see me? It's not like I blend in with the snow!"
She paused for a moment and stepped back from the stallion. This time when Adaya spoke, she spoke softly. "What is you're name anyway?"

Ayidan flushed, which looked odd since it gave his charcoal-clue sections a purplish hint, and turned all his white spots a pinkish color. "Uh... uh... I... I..." He scuffled his hooves in the snow, and looks down. "I... wah..... wah.... was di... distra... distracted.... By th... the.... pruh... pruh... pretty snuh... snow. Th.... the li... light... luh.... looked .... ruh... ruh.... really nuh... nice on... it..." He pauses and then blurts out "Ayidan! I'm Ayidan!", determined to get that out solid, at least, even if he felt like the biggest idiot this side of the river.

"Well Ayidan, I suggest you had better watch where you are going next time. You nearly ran me over and the little pitiful patch of grass that I found to eat has been trampled." Adaya knew that the food being trampled was her fault, but it didn’t stop her from using it to make the stallion feel guilty.
Adaya gave a sigh. Though she was angry, she could understand getting lost in the beauty of a winter’s dawn just as much as she would in a summer’s dusk. It was one of the few things she enjoyed more than getting what she wanted. "Anyways..." Adaya muttered as she turned her back on the Stallion. "Just watch where you're going... I'm going to find more food... You can come if you want to."
She felt awkward asking another to join her find food, but with two looking she could probably fill her belly faster than if she was looking on her own.

Ayidan looked down, ashamed, and scraped at the ice some more. "I... suh... suh... said I wuh.... was suh.... sorry...." He looked off, and sighed. "Duh... doesn't yuh... your tuh.... tuh... two-luh... legger guh... guh... give yuh... you fuh... food?" His had stockpiled hay and the like, apparently, and made sure he had enough. As she moves off, he tentatively follows, but isn't sure he should, she seemed so very mad at him.

“Two legger?” Adaya shook her head no then turned her head back to look at Ayidan through the corner of one of her eye. “Hmph… No, I don’t have a two legger. As far as I am concerned they are just people to tell you what to do.” She flicked her tail somewhat out of annoyance, but the annoyance was at herself. “Maybe I’ll have a two legger one day, but for now I am living free.”
She stopped and stared down at the snowy white ground. “You coming?”

"How... o... odd. Tuh... two luh... leggers can buh... be... us... us... useful. And fuh... fuh... feed you." He follows after her. "I... suh... suh... pose..." He had his head half down, his utter shyness obvious to any one who saw him.

Adaya looked back to see if the stallion was following only to spy him with his head hung somewhat low. She gave a sigh and when he came even with her Adaya bumped him with her hip. "Cheer up. I don’t bite..." It was the closest thing to sympathy or understanding Adaya could muster herself to say without knowing him better; or without knowing what she could con from the stallion.
"By the way, even though you didn’t ask for it, my name is Adaya." Adaya said somewhat cheerfully in what she deemed a futile attempt to pull Ayidan out of his shell. Maybe if she could get him talking he would mention something she wanted. She paused for a moment before making herself finish the greeting. "It is a Pleasure to meet you."

Ayidan looked back up, then said "Ah... I see..." He flushed, shy and confused. "It... it's nuh... nice to muh... meet you, Ad... Aday... Adaya." He looked embarrassed as he stutters over her name. "I... I'm suh... sorry for no... not as... as... asking. I wuh... was too... em... em... embar... embarrassed to thu... think of it."

"Why on earth would you have to be sorry for not asking?" Adaya was slightly confused by Ayidan prominent politeness. It was, in her eyes, unnatural. "It's not like I offered it to you before then. In fact it was probably better that you didn’t ask; you would have probably gotten a very curt answer. I was mad at you at the time, remember?"
Adaya never once looked at the stallion while she said these things; she was too busy looking for another patch of grass or a berry bush somehow still baring fruit. It was probably for the best too, the last time she had not driven off another Soquili that as far as she could tell had nothing to offer her was when she had met her first Usdia, which Adaya promptly tried to turn into a pet.
"Anyway, why do you talk the way you do?"

Ayidan half stopped, then sighed a lot, embarrassed and red as can be. He was almost surprised he wasn't reflecting red off the snow, he was blushing so bad, and knew it. "I... I... I... cuh... can't huh... help it. I... I... stu.... stutter... be... beca... because I'm shu.... shu... shy.." He sighed softly, and then tossed his head a little. "As fuh... for buh... being suh... sorry, be... because... it wah... wah... was ru... ru... rude of muh... me, of cuh... cuh... course." He continues to move after her again.

'Hm... So he's that shy that he cant speak... I'll have to make him quit that.' Adaya thought to herself as she spied what looked like green sprigs of grass shooting up fro a mound of snow. "Don’t consider it rude to not ask about someone's name. It isn’t. Consider it rude to have given your own name and not received one in return. " Adaya had an odd logic when it came to manners, but it made sense to her and that was all that mattered in her mind.
She thought it best to not mention Ayidans speech anymore since it would probably just make him more nervous. "I think there is some grass over here," Adaya said changing the subject. "It's just too bad that there isn’t something better around..."

Ayidan blinked a little at her words, and said "Buh.... buh... but you a... asked... I... duh... duh... didn't... It muh... must ha... ha... have seemed luh.... luh.... like I duh... duh... didn't care, whu.... whu....w hich was rude." He ponders the grass, and nods. "It suh.... seems so. Yuh... you ea... ea... eat it, I'm fuh.... fuh... fine, I've ha.... ha... had en... enough today all re....re...re... ready."

"To tell the truth, I couldn’t care less whether or not you cared. I gave up a long time ago fretting over whether or not someone cared." Adaya said nonchalantly to Ayidan. 'People only care about themselves for the most part anyway...' she though to herself as she shrugged and made her way over to the spot she thought grass was. She scraped the snow away with her hoof and sure enough there was some scraggily pieces of wilted grass. "Are you sure you've had enough?"
