I'm one of those crazy people that play both of them. I can't decide between them. I can do more complicated classical pieces than complicated jazz pieces, but I pretty good at improv with jazz.

Ohhh, that's a hard one. I like a fast-paced classical piece if it's in a minor key, but I'm in a jazz trio right now that I absolutely /adore/. It really depends on the piece you're playing.

Mad Pyro Ohhh, that's a hard one. I like a fast-paced classical piece if it's in a minor key, but I'm in a jazz trio right now that I absolutely /adore/. It really depends on the piece you're playing. I'm currently preparing for honor band auditions, so I've been forced to play a ton of classical pieces and virtually no jazz. Once I'm done with honor band, I'm gonna be playing almost nothing but jazz. mrgreen

Cool! Honor band auditions for us were about three months ago. I /barely/ missed it. There were only three slots, and I was fourth. >>

The alto. It's the only type I own, but I've played a tenor and a soprano once.

I play my tenor in my intermediate jazz band, so I definatly like to play my sax with jazz music. It's always a challenge. I also like to take songs on my mp3 and learn how the chorus goes. it's so fun when you leave your folder in your locker by accident.

MMK. I'm first chair and our band really sucks , so every classical piece that we play is for the whole band and is really boring and easy. so when i get into the jazz band (which has 8th and 7th grade,) then the music like last years will be challenging...i like challenging. so yes i like jazz better, but if you throw a 10th grade classical part at me...i'll be all for. mrgreen
