Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure

User Image

This game illustrates games that are considered great yet are overlooked. (I didn't even know it existed till I saw the awards.)

Ratings:

IGN 9/10
Nintendo Power 9/10
GameSpot 8.5/10
1UP 9/10
X-Play Wii: 4/5
Official Nintendo Magazine 94%

Notes:

IGN Wii 2007 Awards:

Winner for Most Innovative Design
-Runner up: Super Mario Galaxy

Winner for Best Game No One Played
-No Runner Ups

Winner for Biggest Surprise (Lame Name, Great Game)
-Runners Up
(One Year Later, Wii is Still Sold Out)
(Super Smash Bros. Brawl Delayed)

Second Runner Up for Best Adventure Game for Wii [Under Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Winner) and Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix (First Runner Up)]

Second Runner Up for Best Use of Sound [Under Super Mario Galaxy (Winner) and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (First Runner Up]

Third Runner Up for Best Artistic Design [Under Metroid Prime 3 (Winner), Super Mario Galaxy (First Runner Up) and Super Paper Mario (Second Runner Up)

Third Runner Up for Best Use of the Wii-Mote [Under Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (Winner), Super Mario Galaxy (First Runner Up), and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Second Runner Up)

This is the most surprising of all:

It got Second Runner-Up for "Wii Game of the Year" behind the Super Mario Galaxy (Winner) and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (First Runner Up)

How could a Runner Up for Wii Game of the Year not even be hardly known?

This is why I hate casuals...

They ignore games that need support.

Damn you Alpha Moms! Hurry, your husbands are going to buy 360s and PS3s for the kids while you're not looking and then you get to raise LIVE kids that use racial slander at random moments.

It's interesting though. My little cousin got it for Christmas. Though... somehow we ended up doing a Call of Duty 4 LAN party instead. <.<

Marines and SAS total pwnage. 'Oorah! Rob's team didn't stand a chance.

On a side note, Okami better not fail on Wii. It had no excuse to fail on PS2 considering Shadow of the Colossus sold in the millions.

I agree.

I'm really hoping Okami will be good on Wii. They're getting much better with the controls so there isn't really a reason why it shouldn't. (Watch them screw up somehow. lol)

At Daxel: Yes, I'm doubting Ready At Dawn. Having played Okami through more than a few times and finishing it off 100% I have many, many doubts.

At Nter: SotC2 on PS3 in glorious 1080p (sorta) with 5.1 to 7.1 support? Simply whoa.

At Wak: I know exactly how they're going to screw it up. Everyone said Okami would have made a better Wii game because of one mechanic. The Celestial Brush. That is how they'll screw it up. Instead of tweaking the entirety of the game they'll focus on that one point.

The fighting system and many of the things in the game are married to dual analog control.

All they need to do is add minimal wiimote support for the things that would actually benefit it, add widescreen and 480p support. Then, perhaps after that, add real voice acting.

I still don't understand Capcom's decision though. Yes, the Wii is popular, but the game managed to fail on PS2 when the system was at roughly 100 million units out there and a bigger "gamer" population than the Wii attracts. Unless they really believe the casuals will get this game to put between Carnival Games and WiiSports. I'm pretty certain that spot on the shelf is reserved for WiiFit.

You know, they could make the game Classic Controller/Gamecube Controller compatible. They did that with NiGHTS and are doing that with Brawl.

This game may get overlooked because of the casuals. I'm hoping it don't. We're seeing enough games being overlooked.

There is the fact that Capcom DID NOT advertise the game.
At all.

I mean, I went to Gamestop yesterday, and I saw a Grandma and her granddaughter pick up NIGHTS.
Im pretty sure they saw a commercial for NIGHTS. It's not all Causals fault. Lot's(And I mean LOTS) of Causals play Halo, hell, they play Live for Ctuhlhu's sakes.

Most of it falls on Capcom's part of not submitting one damn ad for the game.
Not One.
