As a member of this society I generally don't give gold to beggers just so they can have the "perfect" dream avi, I believe people on this website should earn their own gold. So if someone is hacked, should they be given a little bit to help them along their way? Or should they earn it back themselves?

getting "hacked" is alot less common then you might think... it usualy happens when they click something off the gaia site, thinking its part of gaia... or are stupid enough to give their password..
personally, even if i did get hacked, i still wouldnt beg... i guess you could put on your profile "this is my new avvy after i was hacked" which then gives people the choice to donate to you, as it wasnt your fault...but that, in my mind, doesnt mean you've begged...
if you get me?

Naw. Most of the time, if someone was hacked, it was their OWN fault. The TOS says NEVER give your password to ANYONE, yet people still do it and then whine about how they got hacked. -_-
I only donate to my friends, or someone who I think looks cool or was nice to me, etc etc. ANYONE can say they got hacked...doesn't make it true. They could just be playing the sympathy card to get gold/items.

there is no such thing as hacking on gaia, if there was then some big changes would be made. hacking is having programs that either destroy, or takes control of the servers as if they were lanzer, so they would just look at you and your gold is there. what happens on gaia is scamming, doing certain things to get the password out of you. and if so its your own damb fault!

Two years ago, I was hacked. Lost around 500k in items and 50k in gold. I had no help from admins, still waiting for a reply from my hacking report, and I had no help from friends. I got all of my items back and more. Im three times as rich as when before I got hacked. Some people just dont need help. I mean, I needed help, but I got around just fine without it, and the experience helped me become a better gaian. Im not against donating to hacking victims, I just think it would be better for them to rebuild on their own. Plus a lot of people lie...

Do not ever donate to someone who claims to be hacked. most of the time, they aren't hacked, they just took all their clothes off and pretended to be.

good question. theres possiblities as to how someone cold of been hacked.
1) crazy enough to give their username and password
2) made another account and said they got hacked
