 A wolf walked at a slow steady pace with her tail in between her legs and her head lowered until it was nearly touching the ground. She was hungry, no she was starving for a meal that never seemed to come to her easily. Always getting the smallest portions or none at all was all she knew. Her hunting skills were nearly non-existent to the point where she could bare hunt a mouse. It was sad, but it was how it had always been for her.
With her maw close to the ground, she sniffed the ground hesitantly as if she was expecting to pick up some sort of scent that was around. Anything would suit her, but another wolf. She didn't have the strength to even fight one off and knew she could easily be killed if it was one stronger then herself. Then again, most were stronger then her because of how famished she was right now. Her body was somewhat lean with a little meat to it and her fur was unkept.
Soon she stopped walking and decided to take a seat on the ground for a moment while her eyes scanned the area around her. A meal? Why couldn't she find a meal? Was it like a curse for her to not be able to eat and be placed into such a low ranking with the wolf society. She simply wanted a full stomach and that wasn't coming from anywhere anytime soon. WIth her green eyes slowly moving around the landscape, she needed to continue to move before another wolf passes by her. "Why do I feel like I don't matter to anyone..?" She spoke softly to herself as her body flopped over onto it's side right onto the hard ground. She couldn't move anymore. She had been on the run away from other wolves scents for days now without sleep and it finally took it's toll on her.

Pack life had been good to Caleb. He was eating well, though his body still kept its lean and toned appearance and his fellow comrades gave him the sense of familyship he had always wanted. But, lately he'd been wanting more. Caleb was ever the traveler and always would be. Sure, the pack in question prided their members on going where they pleased and encouraging the wandering spirit, but still the same faces the lone wolf came across were the ones he always seen in the pack.
Perhaps that's what made him stray further then before on this day.
He knew the area, knew it well. He'd shown his pack their lands and he was the one who lived there from birth. But, this time he kept going, kept moving...until he finally reached an area he was not so familiar with. That gave him a little jolt. A little bit of rush. How exciting!
That's when he smelt and heard something all at once.
An ear swivelled around as his nostrils flickered against the air. The sound was like something slinking through the brush, but the smell was distinctly wolf. Distincty female. And then he heard the softest of voices, but could not register the words.
"Hello..." he called out tentavily, the other wolf unknown nor in sight just yet. "If I'm trespassing...I apologize. Hello.....?"

The tannish female flicked her ears to the back of her head when she heard another's voice nearby. Her body quickly jolted up a bit to the point where she was sitting there. Her green eyes scanned the perimeter once again before it fell right on the lone wolf approaching in her direction. She wanted to run away and it didn't help that the scent she was picking up from this wolf was a male. It meant he definitely was stronger then she was and by the looks of it in better condition as well. "Hello." She said sheepishly as she rose to her feet with her tail still between her legs and her ears flat to her head. "You aren't trespassing..This isn't my territory." She told him as her body lowered to the ground to show that she didn't want any time of conflict at all. She wouldn't be able to handle it in her condition.
"I'm sorry if I am in your way." She told him as she began to back away from his direction slowly. All that was on her mind was him running after her and attacking her. "Please don't hurt me..." She whispered really to herself since she didn't want the other to hear, but didn't care if he did.

Caleb's eyes widened slightly as soon as she came into sight. She looked...sickly. Not on the level of a travelling vegabond, but certainly to where he took notice. He wondered if she had eaten, where she held from...all sorts of things crossed through the gentle wolf's mind. And that's exactly what he was, a wolf that believed in peace and humanity. In that sense she was lucky it was he who stumbled across her and not something with hatred in his heart, or one that preyed on those weaker.
"Oh my," he muttered, indeed catching what she had said.
"I won't hurt," he promised, dipping his head down low, symbol of a wolf's honor. "But....are you hungry?" he asked, eyeing her just a bit. "I haven't eaten myself and was just about to catch me something to eat. Do you like deer...or hare? Maybe even a little bit of fish?"
He wasn't sure what this one would like, only that she might be hungry.

Xia-Feng's ears perked up on her head only a little bit at his kind words. It was something she certainly hadn't experienced before. All she met with was those who wanted to kill her or leave her to starve, but maybe this was a change for her. Though all she could do was hope that this new trend would hold up for a long time. "Really? You seem kind, but I don't know if I can trust it." She told him lightly with her eyes slowly rising from off the ground and looking at the male with weary eyes. She took a few slow steps towards him and wondered if it was safe still since she didn't need to be hurt right now. "Yes I am.." She told him softly with her head raising slightly, but she kept her tail tucked between her legs still.
"I will eat anything." She told him with a slight nod of her head. She hoped that he could catch things himself since she failed at doing anything like that. "You can hunt down those things on your own right? I am only asking because I can never seem to catch anything." She told him in a saddened tone of voice and that little bit of information made her feel small. She always felt like a runt pup and it seemed like that is how she was.

He kept watching her, not intensely, but in a concerned fashion. Like the time Caleb had watched over a small bird that had injured its wing. It eventually could fly again. Caleb still had respect for the same animals he could easily make his meals. That was the balance of nature in his eyes. You were to respect it, and take from it what you needed only.
"I thought as much," he said softly, trying to keep his tones as unthreatening as possible. He didn't know where she hailed or what stories she had to tell, but he guessed she might have been hurt once more.
At least that's what he had assumed.
"Anything? Anything I can do.." inwardly he tried to wonder what might be good to get her. He needed to pick a leaner meat. If she hadn't eaten a while then thicker meatier meats would only make her sick.
"Oh yes," he nodded, " don't worry. I'll get us both something to eat. Won't take me long at all."
With that he let out a bark that seemed to read 'hold on' and then he was off, returning a bit later with a large hare carcass in his mouth.
