Jasiri, Moto to everybody but his mother, stalked Kutulia through the long grass. He hunkered down a bit more, and lucky he did because she looked back right afterwards. With his tail twitching, he readied for a pounce, his red and blue eye both focused on his "prey".
She'll never even know what hit her, he thought.
Launching himself into the air with a mighty leap, roaring as only a cub could, he landed right where she had been. It took a second before he noticed that she wasn't beneath his paws, and when he did he was highly surprised. Looking over, he saw her grinning that infuriating, knowing grin of hers.
"How do you do that?" he cried. "Do you have eyes in the back of your head?"

Kutulia sat only a few inches away from the frustrated lion cub. She cocked a brow and watched him carefully. Having moved because of the strange noises coming from behind her, she wasn't surprised to learn that it was the youngest of the three brothers. With a light laugh, she tried to explain, "No, I don't have eyes in the back of my head, Jasiri... You just need to work on being quiet. Hares have awfully large ears, y'know?"
The pale colored hare was still smiling as she spoke to him, though the smirk had cleared from her face. She was not upset, but rather amused at the fact that her friend's son was attempting to hunt her. "I don't know much about hunting, but i've seen your mother go out and prepare herself.. She's always talking about being one with the earth beneath her and listening to everything. She looks so tense when she goes off to hunt."
Busy watching over his sister, Hodari didn't notice Jasiri hunting one of the hares closest to him. When he overheard the conversation, however, he quickly made his way over and narrowed his eyes on his brother. "The hares are our friends, Jasiri!" He exclaimed. This matter was constantly reminded to the cubs, who were learning the beginnings of hunting and the rules of the pridelands. Cheshi, Sungura, Kutulia and Mnyama were protected and also considered pridelanders.

Moto bristled when Hodari scolded him. He hated that his brother, who was only older by a few minutes, was always acting like he was in charge, like he was his dad. Why did he always have to get in the middle of things? Moto thought.
"I know Hodari! Why are you always jumping down my throat! It's not like I was going to do anything more than pin her! Besides, you're just jealous that I got closer than you ever would have. And why do have to call me Jasiri just like Mom?! You're not my dad ya know!"
With that, Moto stood up proudly, turned and stuck his tail up, walking through the grass with his tail bobbing high above him, almost as a taunt to Hodari.

When Hodari approached the two, Kutulia looked over with a worried expression. She had seen the way the two boys got along with one another and knew that their personalities clashed. What was amusing, however, was that they reminded Tuli of herself and Mnyama. Sadly, she was the one similar to Hodari, always worrying about getting into trouble.
As Jasiri snapped back quickly at Hodari, the cub's expression became sour. His brow was furrowed and his mouth was pulled off to the side to show his frustration. "I know i'm not your dad, Jas! I never pretended like I was! I just want to keep you out of trouble!" And while he still pleaded for his brother to listen, he was not surprised when the youngest of the family simply trotted away to attack other unsuspecting creatures, no doubt!
With his expression turning even more grim, Hodari followed after, as quietly as he could manage. If Jasiri wanted to get in trouble, then Hodari would help him do just that!

Moto kept walking, looking around for something to do. As he turned to investigate something to his left, he saw Hodari following behind him.
Errr, I HATE HIM!! Moto thought. Why does he always have to check on me, like I'm a little cub! He's no older than I am!
He hunkered down and lowered his tail into the grass as quickly as he could. He then moved backwards and to the side a little.
Hoping the catch him off guard, Moto sprinted and leaped at him, roaring like only a cub could.

Kutulia watched as the cubs continued to make faces at one another, clearly irritated. She couldn't find a fault in either one specifically, but found that they were simply acting like cubs... or rather, male cubs. When Jasiri suddenly took off and Hodari followed after, she rolled her eyes and let out a light laugh. Had the tables been turned, Hodari would have certainly complained about his sibling. Despite the cubs acting silly, the hare remained close enough to keep an eye over them. As they began to play more aggressively, she was careful to stay a fair distance away. With her large ears, she did not need to be close to hear what was going on.
Hodari had meant to get down low so that Jasiri couldn't see him, but as he followed behind his brother, he somehow forgot to. As he continued to follow his sibling's path, he became frustrated when his brother suddenly disappeared. "You can't hide, Jasiri!" Hodari called out helplessly. He couldn't see his brother and knew that he couldn't be up to anything good. When Jasiri suddenly pounced, Hodari felt himself be tackled and growled in protest. Once he was tackled, he rolled and tried to get away, kicking at his brother with his backfeet, sure to keep his claws inside. "Get off!!"

"Stop following me around!!" Moto screamed. "Just leave me alone! I'm just as old as you are! You can't go bossing me around!"
Moto swatted at Hodari's face, trying to keep him pinned with his other paws.

"But I didn't saying anything Jasiri!" Hodari pleaded as his brother began to yell. When Jasiri's paw came swinging towards his face there was no way he could avoid it in time while being so forcefully pinned down. While he hated to admit it, his brother was built as strong as he was.
Once Hodari had been swatted, the cub let out a cub's roar and attempted to throw his sibling off of him. He would not go far, but far enough away to where Hodari could get up. "You want to get in trouble on your own then!? Fine! I don't want to help you get hurt! You stu--" And Hodari's frustrated cry was cut off by a familiar voice.
"Boys?" Came a deep, gentle voice of their father. The two cubs had made their way rather near the roguelands on the path that he usually took to visit them. When he was close enough to notice that they had been fighting - Hodari had a mark over his face, as though he had been hit - he couldn't help but release a sigh. He had not made the decision and had then been only half a father to his cubs.
Approaching them further, Kei leaned down and offered them both nuzzles, "How about we end this fighting explain what's wrong?"

Moto quickly got to his feet from where Hodari had thrown him, only a couple feet away. Right as he was about to attack him again, he heard his father's voice, and quickly turned his attention to Kei.
"He started it!! He keeps following me around and telling me what to do! Tell him to stop it!!" Moto ranted to his father. After yelling that, he sat down and glared angrily at Kei, throwing Hodari angry glances every few seconds. He was mad, and he'd stay that way for awhile, taking out his anger on everyone around him, whether or not they were the source of it.

When Jasiri began to yell, Kei only smiled lightly. The father was so pleased to see his sons, even if it was not on the best of terms. They were brothers and Kei rememberd how he had played with his own siblings. He was much like Jasiri when he was younger and that could have been why his mother favored him. He was strong and brave and seemed the fittest in order to survive.
Nodding at the explanation, Kei turned to Hodari to hear the other cubs version of the story, "Do you agree, Hodari?" He asked, curiously.
Kutulia was rather surprised to see that Kei had seemingly came out of nowhere. When the cubs began to tackle one another, she paniced. Uncertain of how to make them stop, she was both nervous and relieved that their father appeared. "I'm sorry Kei! I was about to try and stop them!"
Hodari looked to Kei quickly when he appeared, but he didn't speak just yet. When Jasiri began to explain what he thought to be true, Hodari frowned. Why did his brother dislike his guidance so much? Without it, Jasiri would certainly get into trouble? Or worse yet, he could become lost like Dakarai or maybe even hurt?
"That's not true, dad! He ran off and I was worried he'd get lost! Just a couple days ago, Dakarai followed a bug and got hurt! I wanted to make sure the same didn't happen to Jasiri!"

Jasiri didn't even wait for Hodari to finish before yelling his response.
"I didn't run off!! You follow me everywhere so you can tattle on me!! And why would I get hurt following a bug?! Dakarai is a kluts and a cry baby!"

Kei laughed lightly watching his two sons argue. They reminded him so much of when he was a cub. He had been born with two brothers and the three of them did not usually get along. Returning his thoughts to his boys, he smiled and then began to head back towards their den. "Alright, alright. We'll go back home and discuss this more with your mother. I'm sure she'd be pleased to know you both went out without her permission." Kei was clearly only mentioning Shiri to remind the boys that they were both wrong. It didn't matter who followed who if neither boy was doing what he was supposed to.
Hodari was about to justify that he had Kutulia with him, when he noticed that he did not recognise much around them. Jasiri, Kutulia and Hodari had all wandered a good distance from their den. Lowering his ears, the cub began to follow after his father. Quietly, he whispered, "Maybe you don't have to tell her?" It wasn't like Hodari to suggest such a thing, but he felt awful getting into trouble.

Jasiri was not thrilled about going to see their mother, but there wasn't much he could do about it. He closed his mouth, but was still inwardly seething. He'd tell his mom just what he'd told his dad. He was sick of Hodari following him around and telling him what to do. He humphed, stuck is tail in the air defiantly, and followed is father, staying just a little behind and to the side of his brother.

Kei was rather discouraged to find that both of his sons got along so poorly. He had heard from Shiri that the relationship between Hodari and Jasiri was the most rocky, but assumed it to be just because they were young. Perhaps Kei and Shiri were simply fretting and the two would grow out of it? With a light sigh, Kei led the two boys in order to return to their den and speak with Shiri.
Unlike Jasiri, Hodari's ears were lowered and his tail was snug between his two back legs. He felt awful and worried that he might get himself into trouble. While he knew he couldn't let Jasiri simply run off on his own, he also knew that he should have spoken with his mom first instead of taking the responsibility on his own. With a sigh, similar to his father's, Hodari followed obediently.
