There was always something special about each and every day. That was Kusadiki's single rule in life. Always, she would find something bright and shiny in each new day that would fuel the spring in her next day's steps and let her wake each morning with a bright grin on her muzzle.

The golden dog was getting used to living a life of solitude. Though she had been a wanderer since before she could remember, she had never truly travelled in complete solitude until she and her best friend of many years had become separated in a dreadful storm. A rogue's instincts are strong, though, and she had since gotten more accustomed to spending nights on her own and days in the company of only the birds and smaller animals of the savannah.

Kusa trotted along, her long swinging strides eating up the ground effortlessly. She had woken up that morning, like any other, and taken off at a lope in the first direction she felt like. Now that the sun was up higher and the day was warmer, the golden dog had dropped out of her high speed thrill run and settled into stride, moving ever forward toward her unknown destination.

Talbot Jabez twitched as he looked at himself in the water. He was near perfect for some people. His white markings only slightly blemished by his black paws and marking on his eye. Yet he was no where close for others... he a strong fear for females. Even though he wanted to get over it. Strange? Well He was a strage Wild Dog, sweet though.

He guessed the golden eyes looking back at him from the water was quite creapy... even though they were his own. He quickly lapped up some water and sat back on his haunches. Water dripping down off of his maw. He licked his chin and looked around and took a deep breath in...

... Wait ...
That smell... not again. His tail twiched he smelt another Wild Dog. But Not Any... A Female.

He froze in fear the first things that came into his mind when he saw or smelt a female... fear and strong pain. There was nothing he could do, his brain said run but he would not budge.

The long early morning run had left Kusa thirsty and despising her coat for its warmth. It was getting just a little too hot. She poked her nose into the air, taking a moment to scent, and then her head turned to the left and she followed it. Ah, the sweet smell of water. Kusa mentally thanked her own good senses. Yes, water was just what she needed on a day like this, after a run like the one she had had.

Of course, she wasn't complaining. That run invigorated her. Each morning she awoke and bolted off into any direction she felt like, and then for the rest of the day, she felt wide awake and happy. Bright and shiny, that was it.

She swung and trotted down toward the smell of water, her mahogany eyes closed as she followed her nose. She was so into it, and so confident that she would lead herself to the water that she didn't think to open her eyes, and before she knew it, she and run right into something else big and furry.

Talbot could not move as the female moved closer. He did manage to move a little, he moved slightly to the side but that was as far as he would let himself go. He flinched and closed his eyes, then bam.

He let out a whimper as she ran into him. He kept his ears and tail down and kept on whimpering. He slowly moved over and kept really low to the ground. "P-Please don't hurt me." He whined and looked up at the female. He was hoping she was not violent or mean.

Even after she had ran right into him, she didn't quite seem to notice, and somehow kept trying to reach the water. As he crouched low to the ground, she suddenly found her resistance gone and with a surprised yelp, she tumbled right over him and into the water.

Her head burst through the surface of the water, mahogany eyes blinking in bewilderment. What just happened? It was then that she caught sight of the other dog, mostly white with some black, cowering against the ground. But... why? She glanced down at herself, wondering how in the world she looked scary enough to make him look like that.

"Hurt you? Why would I hurt you?" She looked at him curiously as she pulled herself out of the water and shook her fur dry. At least, she mused, she wasn't hot anymore. And now she really was wide awake, though more at the sight of this strange dog than at the complete drenching she had just taken.

Talbot flinched as water splashed him. He looked up at the female and flinched again as she talked. "Your- Your a female... thats All they have ever done to me." He was praticly shaking. Why did he have to be such a coward. He tryed to build up his strenght and stood up slightly but ready to go back down or run like hell if she tried something.

He was slowly starting to get his composure back. "Wh-Whats your name?" He asked as he smelt the air once more. He didn't need some one else coming.

She watched him strangely, a little out the corner of her eye, wondering how in the world anyone could be so tense around another of their own species. It was quite new, and strange, really, and she felt pity for the poor soul who had been so abused by those of her own gender that he felt the need to cower, or perhaps to run, in the presence of one.

"Kusa, I'm Kusadiki," She said as he started to relax ever so slightly. "And you are?" She wondered what it was like, to go through life with such a fear. She had never been so afraid of anything before. In fact, for Kusa, she had never quite run across something that she didn't find fascinating and she had never really come across a situation that she didn't somehow find a way to laugh at in hindsight.

"I-I'm Talbot Jabez, please call me Talbot or Tal, Jabez kinda sounds little... funny." He un-tensed himself slightly and walked over to the water, he came to get somthing to drink but he never did. He lapped up water quitely but still quite on gaurd.

"So um... Kusa, Why are you alone, I don't see many that don't have a traveling buddy or somthing..." He asked trying not to freze in fright again. He turned around a faced her sitting down, still ready to run like hell if needed.

Kusa chuckled. "Nice to meet you, Tal," She said, weighing the name and making sure she had it just right and could commit it to memory. It was something she liked to do, so that if she ever were to meet him again, she would know who he was.

At his words, she smiled again, this time almost a little sadly. Her travelling buddy had been separated from her after many years of companionship in a storm. She had searched for many days, but to no avail and now she had only just started to come to terms with the fact that she might never see her friend again.

"I just haven't found one yet, I guess," She settled on saying with a small carefree shrug. "And what about you? You're alone too, aren't you?"

Talbot thought for a moment. "You got me there." He sighed and thought for a moment. "Nope um. Trust comes hard for me, I'm surprized I'm still sitting here with you." He let out a very warm smile. He sighed and thought about it. "Or no one just wants to be with me?" He pratcily asked himself and laughed.

He looked at the water again and smiled. His golden eyes glided back to Kusa.

"Does it?" Kusa said, pleasantly surprised that he was like her. Although she certainly didn't show it nearly as much, trust didn't come easy for her either. It was probably the main reason she had yet to find another travelling buddy. She would meet them once and leave. She didn't hang around or seek them out again. If fate had meant for it to be, they would meet again out of no particular reason. That would mean something to her.

"Well, I'm sure that's not true," She said with a warm smile. "You're hardly insufferable. Quite the opposite, to tell the truth." Confidence was key to everything. Perhaps, she mused, if she had grown up a little differently, without the confidence - bordering on somehow lovable arrogance for those that knew her very well - she might be a little like Tal. She wondered then what that was like.

Tal smiled. "Thank you ma'am that is very nice of you to say." He gave a slight bow. "Would you like to join me for a walk?" He asked. "It might help me with trusting others mabye you too." He gave a grin even though she did not say yes yet he started walking a bit. He smiled as he did. He was not that bad after you got to know him He was acting pretty nice, she seemed like him.

"I don't see why not," Kusa said brightly, trotting after him a few steps until she had caught up, and then she dropped back into an easy walk.

"Help you with your trust issues, huh?" She said witha chuckle. She could use some of that as well, she mused, although she wasn't nearly as jumpy as Talbot. She wasn't actually jumpy at all. It was quite difficult to see she had some trust issues until she actually began to put her trust down, and even then she let so little out at a time that it was hard to notice.

But slowly, that trust would build up and eventually, it would be noticeable.

"That would'nt be that bad now." He laughed and started troting just a bit. As he walked words escaped him, no one really was around him this long he didn't know what to talk about. He felt embaressed not knowing anything to say. "So nice weather?"

God Talbot Nice one! Nice weather! How common. He thought to himself feeling even more like a fool.

Kusa chuckled. Weather? "Sure," She said with a giggle. Well, it was true, the weather was quite nice. But it wasn't exactly a topic for a long conversation.

"At least the sun is out," She added. There were a couple of clouds, but they floated light and white across the sky, which meant there wasn't any rain to be expected any time soon. If that weather would last, the rest of the warm season would prove to be extremely pleasant. And then the slightly cooler time of year would move it and it would feel just as pleasant, but perhaps just a tad chillier at night.

But as far as weather went, that was it. It didn't get too cold out on the savannah, although in the peak of summer the sun's heat did prove to be more than many creatures could handle. She could almost hear the lazy buzz of flies in the dead of the day, when everyone was napping under shades to keep cool, and the dryness of the land affected everything.
