so, as i'm turning 16 soon ( tomorrow! ) and i'm getting a bit tired of baby sitting, I decided that come the new year I was going to go and get myself a job.
The mall is the most convenient place for me to work (besides Publix, but, I don't really want to bag groceries XD ), and thankfully I found a few places that hire 16 year olds.
One of them is, of course, Hot Topic.
This is actually the place I want to work at the most, because I already have a lot of friends that work there/the discount would be nice/they have good benefits and whatever, but my parents put their foot down.
"only sleezeballs and weirdos work there, you're not going to, no."
the hell?
now, i can shop comfortably pretty much anywhere. >: i have no problem wandering into a hot topic with an american eagle shopping bag slung across my arm, and vice versa. I like the clothes that I like, and I think all stores have cute things to offer for any wardrobe. Its not really fair of my parents to judge like that, especially since... any "real hxc satanist/goth/emo/wtfever words they used" don't really go to hot topic. XD
especially not ours. :U
I guess i'm a little disappointed and upset that my parents are so infuriatingly close minded, enough to prevent me from getting a job at a clothing store thats "different". >:
Not like thats stopping me from applying, of course. <3 Hopefully, if they hire me, I can keep it a secret long enough to work out a deal with my parents.
If not, I can always work somewhere else, but. biggrin
Discuss: disappointing ways your parents judge clothing stores good jobs for 16 year olds? lmao hot topic where do you shop, PPS? what was your first job? <3 publix 8D

o:! I'm turning 16..well in Feb but still, same dif xD Anywhooo, yeah I'm sorta job hunting also... so I can't exactly say what was my first job. But Anyways I'd really lik to work at American Eagle :3 But I probably won't be able too, it's already hard enough as it is to get a job there and also add that I have not experience whatsoever in like vending and stuff heh. Anyways I'd work anywhere except for fast food places, I'm sorta leaning towards working at a Starbucks cause I think that'll be fun, also Chapters would be fun for me cause I'm a total book nerd, but yes. I'm like half ranting now so I'll stop heheh.

I wanna get a job. Liek real bad. D: But nobody is gonna hire me because I'm too young yet. D: But I really want the money. And I only get to babysit during football season, and it's only $20 a night.
And my parents are all "Too bad! You have to wait!" biggrin And then they laugh at the fact that my brother (who's old enough to get a job) would rather play WOW and I want to go get a job and I'm still too young.
And they won't let me get a Facebook account. Just because, oh let's say I'm not exactly the good kind of popular at school...>.> And they say I'll get cyberbullied, and I won't be able to stop it. Of course, I can block them! And then according to my parents they'll get onto one of my friend's accounts (because EVERYBODY gives out their password. Righhhht... rolleyes ) and bully me and I'll think it's my friend.
Of course, anybody who would want to be mean to me at school is going to be pretty stupid. I mean, not because they don't like me, but all the stupid people hate me for some odd, mysterious reason. :/ So yeah. I'm a big girl! I like my n00b cakes with PWN sauce! I can take them! It's just kind of illogical reasoning. :/

@Innere: You have to be 18 to work at Starbucks. D: At least, down here you do. -was crushed when she found out-
And hopefully a lot of clothing stores don't mind about the experience. xD They always need part time/weird hour people. :U
@The Dark Nerd: Awhh. Babysitting isn't so bad until you get a real job, though. ;D Maybe you should start charging a fixed rate? XD
Also, awh, cyberbullying? That sucks. :c I don't quite understand facebook (i use myspace more), but yeah, of course there'll be ways to protect yourself from people at school. I can see your parents concern, but they should at least give you a chance. C:
