It was just like any other day. Of course, for Kusadiki, there was no such thing as "just another day." The golden wild dog awoke each morning determined to find something new, something special about the day that was to follow. Most days, she would, but perhaps that was just because she always looked especially hard for that little something that would put the spring in her step and have her waking up the next morning just as psyched to live out the day.

Kusa was still quite young, not too long out of adolescence. The world had yet to weigh her down, and she found that no matter what happened to her, as long as she looked, she could find the silver lining. Perhaps it was just her determination to be bright and shiny all the time. Perhaps somewhere deep down inside, some part of her knew that if she wasn't always happy, she would be sad far too often. She didn't want that.

Only recently, she had lost track of her best friend in a storm. She had searched and searched, but to no avail, and now she struck out to find something new, always still searching for her buddy. But if life were to throw something else her way, she would live with that.

Bem trotted across the savanna aimlessly. But then, she always traveled aimlessly. She glanced around to see if she saw anything familiar, but only half-heartedly. She could see something she's seen millions of time and still be lost. Bem had the sense of direction the gods had given, oh, a rock. So on she traveled, an amused smile tugging at her lip, her grey curls bouncing.

Bem sniffed the air to see what was nearby. A hare caught her senses, but she'd recently eaten and wasn't particularly hungry. Lucky hare. And another scent caught Bem. One she hadn't smelled in awhile. Another wild dog. And this one female. Bem figured it'd be worth a pause in her goal-less journey, so she turned and over a hill she spotted the dog, a young adult of golden color.

Silver and gold, Bem thought with a silent chuckle. She trotted over.

"Hullo."

Kusa looked up to see a wild dog approaching her. She struck images of the sea into the cheery dog's mind. Kusa smiled, noting the other's curious lock of hair that covered her forehead.

"Why, hello," She returned the greeting with a little nod and a wag of her bushy tail. She hadn't expected to meet another on this day - that would be her special thing. Being a rogue, she had long since gotten used to spending days on her own without meeting another soul, save for the little rodents she liked to hunt and chase.

But then, before, Kusa had always travelled with a friend. Though it wasn't hard for her to revert to the instincts of a lone dog, a little part of her always yearned to find company again. Meeting another was quite the pleasant surprise, and Kusa was glad for it. She hadn't seen another wild dog for some time. She had seen a group of bachelor rogue lions hunting from far away only the day before, but nothing like meeting another up close and personaly.

Bem listened as the golden femme greeted her. She seemed to have a sunny disposition to match that coat of hers. With a smile, Bem flipped her hair out of her eyes. Distinguishing yes, but annoying at times as well.

"Er, you wouldn't happen to know where about we happen to be, would you?"
she asked, more as a conversation started than actually wanting the answer. It really didn't matter exactly where she was, as she had nowhere to go.

Bem looked the golden girl up and down. She was young, and seemed new to the rogue life. Bem liked her instantly. She liked cheerful people. They held their own in life and managed to enjoy life as well.

Kusa was, to say the least, very experienced when it came to small talk. It came from living a life of not sharing any important information until she was absolutely sure that she could trust the other. That wasn't to say she didn't enjoy meeting and knowing new creatures. She simply didn't divulge information willingly until she was completely ready.

"Well..." She thought for a moment. "Not really," She admitted with a laugh. "I just know we're in the rogue lands. Apart from that, I'm probably as lost as anyone else."

She hadn't had much for a destination since she and her friend had been separated by the storm, and she had simply wandered in search, never really finding anything and never really knowing where in the world she went.

Bem nodded politely before bursting out laughing. She quickly quelled it as she really didn't want the femme thinking her to be crazy. Still, it took her a moment to stop the giggling.

"I'm sorry, I'm just really bad at small talk. To be completely honest, I haven't seen anyone in days, and I'd be grateful for a little company."

She grinned sheepishly at the golden dog and prayed that she wouldn't turn and run. Bem usually wasn't this insane. She was used to being solitary. But recently, the lack of company had started gnawing at her.

"I'm Bem,"
she added as an afterthought.

"Life of a rogue, right?" Kusa said with a chuckle. It seemed most rogues tended to go days on end without seeing or meeting anyone new. Most of them, like herself, got used to it easily, but the lack of company always drove everyone a little crazy. It wasn't quite the life of the party to be wandering about alone for days on end. There was just nobody to talk to.

"I'm Kusadiki," Kusa said, promptly adding her name to the introductions. It was only polite, she had been taught as a very young pup, to exchange names. And perhaps nicknames if she thought the situation was right. This was right enough, she decided.

"Or just Kusa. That's what most call me," She added.

Bem grinned and gave a rather sheepish chuckle. She should be used to small talk, really. But the whole 'The weather's nice today' stuff really annoyed her. She preferred to have meaningful conversations. One where the participants take something away from it. But still, one usually doesn't strike up such a conversation with someone she just met.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Kusa,"
she said with a smile. She used the femme's nickname because she figured if she had wanted Bem to use her full name, she wouldn't have given her nickname.

She sat politely on the grass. It was going to be a warm day and there was no need to stand for the duration of it.

"Have you been a rogue long? If you don't mind my asking."

"And same to you," Kusa said with a small wag of her tail. She had always supposed she was a bit of a paradox by nature. Though she wasn't given to getting to up close and personal with new acquaintances, she did so love meeting them.

Mirroring Bem's movements, Kusa too took a seat in the grass, bringing her tail to hug her side. The day was bright and the sun was bringing warmth to the land. Quite like, she mused, the day she had seen a beautiful cloud float lazily by that reminded her of herself. It even looked like it had a strip marking down to a nose, just like the one on Kusa's golden face.

"Oh, not at all," Kusa replied with a grin. "Quite a while, actually. I was born a rogue, you see." She nodded. "Nothing quite like being able to go to new places every day and see new sights everywhere."
