From a high rock, a snow white cub watched another lion, nearly as white. Bodaway had brought the massive lioness into the lands, seeming to be a Firekin pure and proud... But he'd said she was a rogue. A rogue, with a pelt as white as her own, marked with black. It made her wonder... Were the Firekin the only pride with pelts such as their own? She wanted to know, she wanted to find out. But first... She flicked her tail, watching the one called Kimiko. "Why?"

The scarred lioness looked up, blinking her golden eyes. "Why what...?" She flicked her tail, the black hairs brushing the ground. Since she'd been brought in by first Danzi, and then Bodaway... She'd felt stronger in will. The way they treated others... And her... It rang in her heart, it actually made her PROUD to be called a slave. She eyed the diminutive master, not yet comprehending the question.

Savitri stretched out her paws, watching Kimiko. "Why do you stay? I know you know how to get out of here... So why do you stay?" She stretched her body, sliding off the rock. "Slavery can't be THAT great to want to stay." She still remembered that Sumu didn't like it. How could ANYBODY like it?

"Some things you just don't question, because they need to be done..." She looked towards the distant horizon, towards the general area of the Pridelands. "I choose to stay here, with no attempts to escape... Because this is where I belong." She looked back at the cub, ear flicking. "Once upon a time, my father kept slaves. To my knowledge, your mother was one. I repent for his sin and serve in his place."

The cub frowned, brows furrowed. "But you're beaten, and ordered around. How can you ENJOY that? Say that you deserve it?" She looked about, pondering a bit. "If the pride were to fall apart... Where would you go? Would you choose to stay a slave, or take the chance to be free?" As a cub with nothing to do... Savitri had a lot of time to think.

The lioness shook her head, laying down. "I've been a horrible lion, I deserve nothing more." A sigh blew a bit of sand away, drifting in the dry air. "Anyway... I'd sooner stay here, where I have some purpose... Than be out there, wandering and not knowing where to go, what to do." She flicked her ears, thinking about her daughter, her little Masozi. How was she? Was she growing well? Did she even know her mother was missing from her life?

The snow-white cub tilted her head, frowing deeply. "I suppose that makes sense..." She sat down by the lioness, mulling over her words. After a moment, she looked over. "What about my other question? What would you do in that case?" She didn't know where she got the idea, it was just one of those things she thought about. She'd also started to talk to Jua'taka a bit, and found out she was a seer like her mother and two of her sisters. The older cub's words had set her thinking, likely.

Tilting her head, Kimiko thought about this. After a moment, she sighed. "I suppose... I'd stay with the slaves." She knew what life was like being free... But somehow, she didn't want it. She didn't care for it, really. "Sometimes you just do because you can. If I had the choice, I'd stay a slave, not abandon my master. Besides.." She smiled a bit, looking at the cub. "If I ran off now, and managed to live.. I'd never see you and your sisters again."

It was like a touching hit directly to the heart. This lioness, this slave, chose to stay... For Savitri and her sisters? The cub climbed onto the adult's back, draping herself on the other whtie pelt. This slave, who had pride in being such, seemed more like a doting nanny than a slave to the cub. Yawning, she decided to treat her as such.

She could only chuckle, conitinuing to lay there. She didn't seem to mind in the least that she was being used as something to sleep on. With her own massive size, she had more than enough space on her back to settle a cub on. Ears flicking, she settled into the sand to continue watching over the cubs.
