 Rain.. snow.. rain.. snow...
It was as if the weather was torturing the already complicated stallion, and he hide under a tree as droplets of rain suddenly turned into snow. He noticed that his breathe became frozen, and once he realized he would be free of the wet pounding on his body, he made his way back into the open field, which was already becoming covered in white. It was nice to be out of the trees, and out into an open space. There was no wind, and everything was completely silent. When Dante thought about it, it was extremely relaxing, and he decided that the snow wasn't as torturous as he thought. The rain seriously sucked, though. Why did he hate snow? He couldn't really recall..
With a long stretch of his neck, the stallion lifted his nose, only to catch a frosted snow flake on its tip. He crossed his eyes and stared at it, until suddenly it was melted again. The fur he dragged on his legs were also getting covered in snow, and the stallion realized that when he stood there for many moments, a whole layer of snow would make its way onto his body! The stallion was perplexed, and he continued to stare off at the snowy masterpiece that nature was creating, and for once it was nice to feel 'relaxed' and 'calm'. He was listening to his grandmother's advice, and enjoying something so simple in life.

Her approach towards the meadow went unnoticed, as her snow white form was concealed by the layer of snow that was already fallen and the snow that fell from the skies. Shaking her mane, she had a rueful grin on her face. These snowflakes always seemed to settle on her, rather than fall to the ground and melt. Her delicate form allowed her do tread lightly on the snow instead of sinking into its freezing depths.
Onatah, her blue eyes serene, as she gazed around the field that she had wandered into. A field that was covered in an endless balnket of snow, the glisten of the ice that had formed, and the continuous falling snow. It was a sight that she was often acquainted with, but never tired of. Silence lingered, as she gazed noticed a form on which the snow had settled on. Still standing, so he seemed. Amusement lingered on her lips, as she called out "Are you enjoying the snow?" Her voice was soft, as she smiled and with a delicate tilt of her head "Or perhaps I've bothered you?" ( UH SORRY crying if its too short u_u;;; still working out her personality ;; ))

Dante was a bit surprised to hear another around him, and as he moved his eyes around, he wondered if a ghost was talking to him. "Is.. is there someone there?" It really was strange, since he didn't SEE anyone specifically. He trudged a few paces forward, until finally he made out a figure in front of him. "Goodness, I couldn't even see you. And you are not bothering me, I am just dozing to myself." Dante then walked a few more steps forward, only to finally see the entire presence of the mare. She was as white as the surrounding area, and it was no wonder he couldn't see her!
"Forgive me, apparently my eyes are useless. But you really do hide amongst the snow! At least you know you will always be safe.." Dante looked down at his own clashy body, and chuckled at his obvious presence. "Do you like the snow? I haven't decided if I like it yet." He looked back towards the mare, and was genuinely interested in the discussion. She looked very kind, and he was hoping she would stay and chat with him for awhile. "Oh, how silly of me. I don't even know your name. Mine is Dante, who can you be?" Every word was very shaky, and the stallion was mustering up the courage to talk to someone completely new to him. He thought he was doing a good job so far, and he tried to remain focused in front of the mare.

Stepping back, to allow the stallion more space, she asked with an apologetic tone, "Oh? Have I surprised you? I'm afraid I do that quite often, so I must ask you to forgive me..". She spoke softly, now staring at the stallion from below. Granted that she was a bit smaller, and he was a bit bigger than what she had previously assumed, but it was no trouble.
"I cant imagine not living in snow, seeing as how I was raised in it.." She had a thoughtful look, "..so I suppose that I do 'like' it as you put it. Tell me, has the snow made an impression on you yet?" Shifting, she gave him a easy smile, answering "My name is Onatah. Its a pleasure to meet you, Dante." She curtsied to the other stallion, as she reflected that Dante was enjoyable company. She had already noticed the unsteadiness in Dante's tone, and while she could not fathom the reason, she had o qualms width staying and talking. "Your one of the first that I've seen in a while. Were you here for a specific reason or just wandering?"

Ah, it was no wonder she was so white- the snow must have been a natural haven for the female! "No apologies necessary, it was my own fault. And yes.. I suppose the fault happened because I was enjoying the snow." With a pause, he realized he didn't want to offend this snow mare! "I can say confidently that I am starting to love the snow, and how everything becomes quiet on a peaceful afternoon. You don't see that sort of thing happen in the summertime, all the birds are chirping and everyone is out late." The stallion chuckled to himself, knowing very well that was all true.
"So Onatah, that is a lovely name." It had a nice ring to it, and Dante rather enjoyed hearing the name slip off his tongue. "I was just wandering, I am always wandering." Or.. running, that would probably be the best term. "I never really have specific reasons, I just follow the wind. And the wind happened to stop at this very spot, so I decided to relax for awhile." He allowed a comfortable grin to hit his face, and he wagged some of his bangs out of his eyes. "Why, are you here for a specific reason? I hope I am not disrupting anything!" That would definitely be embarrassing if he was!

In her initial confusion, she hadn't looked looked at the stallion, but his unusual appearance caught her eye. It was surprising, to have such an traits, but it hardly made a difference, nor was she going to stop talking to the stallion.
"Why would it be fault of yours? If anything, I'm glad to see you enjoy the snow." She said tentatively, allowing her gaze to meet his. "Winter does have that sort of feel to it. Others call it solitude, instead of peace." She lifted her head to gaze at their snow-filled surroundings, the tendrils of her mane falling lightly around her shoulders. "Others say that winter and its snows is often like death, silencing and covering everything that it falls on, but I think of it rather differently. A clean beginning... so of course It does make it rather depressing, when the snow melts to become spring." .. Oh dear, perhaps I've talked too much? Onatah thought worriedly, giving him a contrite look.
"..Thank you, Dante." She said lightly, hoping to change their direction of conversation, "One would term that a wanderer, or freedom. Are you both then?"
"Oh no." She shook her head with an bemused smile. Hoping to clear Dante's confusion, she answered "I'm afraid I often wander, so similarly to you, I dont have neither a reason nor are you disrupting me... I enjoy your company." She was hesitant, as if the other stallion would not want to hear such words from her.

Solitude.. is that why Dante enjoyed it so much? The stallion lifted his head and stared up at the gray sky, while feeling a speck hit his eyelid. He quickly blinked, before lowering his head again. Her other words.. were a bit shocking, but Dante was never silenced on the thought of death. "It seems Death follows me everywhere, then." A strange smile hit his mouth, and he shuffled his front hoof at an utterly repeated thought. "The way you think of Winter is very interesting, you seem like a very positive mare. That is a wonderful trait you know." Dante wished he could be like that, he really did. He quieted himself for a moment after speaking those words. He probably sounded very strange.
At the mare's other words, Dante could only think for a second, while chuckling slightly. "Well, you are much too kind. I am enjoying this chat myself. I guess our wandering brought us to a good place!" That like, NEVER happened to Dante! "I like freedom, I really do. So I let my legs move as they wish. Sometimes the best way to move is to not ever have a destination in mind. Have you ever tried that yourself?" That action brought him to this very mare!
"What else do you do to enjoy your time?" Dante suddenly realized how easy the conversation was becoming, since he wanted to know more about this mare. There was something so calm and serene about her, and he couldn't help but react in shock, since he had never met another like that! Every other friend he had was so extravagant, and so different from him. "What do you do when the snow melts? I surely hope you don't melt!" Since that would be.. AWFUL!

"Death .. follows you?" She repeated with a curious glance. "Forgive me for saying this, but I dont believe that. A stallion that is as kind as you.." She shook her head.
It was on the tip of her tounge to ask the stallion about the mysteries that surrounded him, but instead she took a slow walk. She flicked a glance towards the skies, welcoming the light shower of snowflakes that continued to fall.
"Why, I dont believe I've tried it yet." Giving Dante a laugh, that had a musical lilt to it, she stared at him with sparkling blue eyes. "but I'll certainly take your advice. After all, I have nothing to lose, do I?"
"My free time?" She reflected upon her past, and found it difficult to remember. Her thoughts swarmed in a confusing manner, "I..I'm not entirely sure. May I ask what you do in your free time?"
Silence followed after his question, as she contemplated what he had asked.".. I dont know." Here she was, in a new land where snow did not fall year round. She had thought of the subject, but when one had no answer, how was she to answer it? "I..I havent been in a land where snow does not fall. I dont believe that I'll melt though." She said chuckling. "So if opportunity arises, perhaps we'll meet again." Her simple words lingered in the air, as she realized that this was a genuine thought.
Aside from her stumbles within the conversation, Onatah truly felt that Dante was .. a companion? No, a friend would better describe him. In only a short span of time, she already had regarded him with fond thoughts. Was it because they were similar? No, whatever it was, the reason did not matter.

"Uhh." Dante froze up for a second, realizing that wouldn't make sense to others. "I guess you can say I have a complicated past." Would she judge him, if he shared his past? Dante stared at the mare carefully, wondering if she would torment him, like everyone else did when he was a little colt. He was outcasted and shamed, since his existence was disgusting. "My father is a horrible creature, and I am supposed to be dead. Everyday when I wake up I wonder if he will find me, but as you can see, he hasn't yet. The only reason I'm alive and was born is.." he paused, looking away. "..is because my 'father' took advance of my wonderful mother. That's why I have these terrible spikes on my back, I'll have them forever, he has them on his back too, all over his body. He is a scary monster." He and his brother carried spikes just like his father did. "So like I said, it is very complicated. I am sure this is all so disgusting to you, it is to most so don't worry." The stallion fakely smiled at the mare, before lowering his eyes to something else.
There. He had said what needed to be said. Whatever reaction the mare had now, would determine how she really felt about him. Many did find his existence disgusting, but he was hopeful now, after speaking with his grandmother. She told him to be honest with others, since there were horses out there that would actually like Dante, for who he is. Either way, his mind was flustered, and he was nervous in what the mare would actually say back.
He was quickly distracted though, by the mare's next question and words. She seemed a bit insecure on the melting thing, and Dante felt awful for bringing it up. "Well you know, snow stays in mountains, even when it can be hot down here! So maybe if you made your way to mountains, you would be ok and happy?" It was an interesting thought, and Dante was energetic on the idea. If she loved snow that much, it could surely work out! There were always loopholes to life. That was another great fact his grandmother taught him!
"Heh, my free time?" he then said. "I do nothing overly exciting, I.. I usually don't have to confidence to approach others, but I am glad I met you today. I also hope we can meet again, in other circumstances and seasons. Not everyone will put up with me this easily!" he then said, feeling a nice joke on the thought. "Free time, to me, is just nice to have and enjoy. Its a nice gift I suppose, like right now, I am just enjoying this conversation. Sometimes I sleep, and sometimes I visit with my family. I guess.. anything simple keeps me happy." He nodded carefully, before looking back at the mare. "I hope that helps?"

She tilted her head staring softly at the other stallion, ".. I dont think your past has anything to do with how you are, unless you let it affect you..? Many I have seen would be bitter about the past, and even possibly follow in the same footsteps." With a slight pause, she considered the past actions of Dante that she had seen. "but I find nothing of your father, nor your past in you. I am a stranger, I admit." She gave a little sigh, realizing that maybe Dante might not believe what she was saying. "If I had any inkling of what yout father, or what you think you have, I would not be here. Please, trust me."
She did not know what others thought, but her belief was firm, that Dante was not what he thought he was. "Dante you are a kind character. Do not blame yourself but for the circumstances that you were forced to be born in." Stepping closer, she had rested her head lightly on Dante's body feeling sadness for what he felt he was. The tendrils of her white mane fell over her eyes as she lowered her head to hide the glimmer of her tears, for Dante.
Taking a step backwards, "Regardless of your past, you are, and always will be my friend." She continued, as she regained her composure. Glancing at Dante, she disliked the forced smile he had. Was it for her?
Surprised by the change in conversation, she stumbled over the words as she spoke"O..oh, the mountains? Snow all year round does sound lovely, but I look forward to seeing all the seasons that come with this land. Summertime, perhaps?" She had remembered Dante bringing it up in their earlier conversations. Rumors had spread in her land, of the beautiful flowers, blistering summer days, and the sunset colors of autumn, but she had never actually seen it for herself. "So, I hope you do not mind that I'll be staying around for a bit longer, even after the snow melts?"
"I can understand the happiness of simplicity. I've often had it myself.." She trailed off with a fond smile, a nostalgic feeling overwhelming her. "Thank you for telling me. Putting sleeping aside though.. Do you like the rest of your family? I mean, apart from your father."

The mare's kindness was shocking, and Dante wasn't sure how he felt about it. She was.. crying for him?? Now he just felt awful! But her words were most enchanting, since he had never thought of it that way. Ezriel was stepping away from he and his mother's side, and following his father, and yet Dante would never do such a thing. "My goodness, I feel awful for making you cry. Your advice is.. amazing, actually." He was too shy to look at her, so he trailed his eyes onto something else. "You make it sound like I'm so much better then I am, and I am truly flattered for your kind words." He was sort of embarrassed, since Onatah was being overly sweet to him.
He most certainly didn't deserve her kindness, but he decided to just smile and gratefully accept her words. "Thank you, Onatah. You are far more brilliant yourself, your words feel as though they can heal me. Well, either way, you boosted up my confidence and hope, and I am eternally grateful." He was honest, and both happy, and he brought his bright eyes onto the female.
He continued on in the conversation, and smiled some more at the mare's questions. "Well, if you put it that way, I would love if you stayed around! You may actually enjoy the summertime, you are light colored so the heat shouldn't bother you. My sister is dark dark black like my mother, and she can't handle the sun. But you and I would be just fine."
He once again paused for a moment, since Onatah had asked him about his family some more. "Hmm, well my mother and sister are just wonderful. My grandmother and god mother are as well. I also have a brother, and I don't dislike him but, I don't know if I can trust him." The stallion shrugged lightly, while thinking of Ezriel. "Apparently he is having children, and my father is actually having children as well. My father will be getting what he wants, new, purer children. Its fine by me if it keeps his mind busy."
Dante would be thankful to be out of his life, and he was hoping that with a new gang of kids, he would have no problem doing that. "What about you? Do you have any family yourself?"

Feeling her mood lighten, she smiled a pleased smile at Dante. "I believe you overestimate me. I am neither brilliant, nor amazing." She said, confessing with a laugh. "Nevertheless, if you can take console in my words, I am forever pleased." Meeting with the other stallions gaze, she felt a gentle breeze blow past them, ruffling her mane.
Enjoying the chilly breeze that often came with the season of winter, she replied "In that case, I'd be delighted to stay around. I am not entirely too this land works, but it'll certainly will be fun learning."
Her eyes lighting up at the mention of new arrivals, "I'm sure your brother must be delighted." There was a pause however, Onatah's eyes softening in sadness. Wasnt her life once that way, also? However, that wasnt possible now.
"O..oh." She gave him an apolegetic smile, as she realized that she was the one causing the silence. Recalling his previous words, "Keeping his mind busy?" Her tone carried a hint of worry, completely forgetting her earlier thoughts. ".. Does something happen when he isnt?". Her gaze flicking from Dante's spike, I'm almost sure that Dante mentioned earlier, that he had inherited his spikes from his father..?. Because it was Dante, Onatah was assured that Dante would not use them if necessary. However, how Dante described his father, was certainly not the best of people. "T..then I assume your father has no part of his previous family then?" She supposed that it was better off that way, considering Dante's description. But it still sounded lonely.
Hoping to lift the mood, she said "N..not that I can recall." She stammered her answer, trying to recall the memories of her childhood. "For as long as I could remember, I've been by myself when I was growing up. When I was older though, I found several others. We've parted ways, but they are still dear friends. However, you can accurately say that I don't have any current family." She answered lightly, hoping to convey to Dante it didn't matter. .. It shouldnt matter. Her gaze falling towards the ground, it wasnt her place, to burden someone else the feelings of pure loneliness that she had sometimes felt, and the wistful feelings she had kept to herself.

"I will take your words and remember them forever. You have no idea how helpful you really are." The stallion bowed to the mare appreciatively, before reflecting on her other words.
Her words were stubbly, and Dante wondered if he did something wrong. Was the topic of family hard for the mare? The stallion suddenly realized that not everyone had family, it was something his grandmother explained to him. She had taught him that no matter how hard a family could be, one should always be glad they have one. Onatah.. may not have a family.. and Dante was so selfish, wasn't he?
He decided to change his words, and smile lightly at this point. "Oh, my father likes having children as pawn pieces, everything is a little game for him. Its really no big deal. If anything, I am thankful he found some new mare to bother. Now I can just stay free and happy with my mother and sister, and not have to worry about his idiotic ways." Dante was sort of lying in his words, since he was afraid of his father daily. But it was not something to tell the mare, since she was already too kind on his personal manners.
"You know, family is something that will always follow in my past, but I find my happiness from the friends I meet. Just like you were saying, with your friends." he tilted his head while pondering the mares words, since he refrained from any more dramatic stories of his life. "I think close relationships are much more important then the term 'family', like my mother's best friend acted as a god mother, and althought we are not related, I consider her as important family." He nodded, and wondered if the mare had something like that.
"I also think its nice to have a mind set of the future, even if the memories of your childhood are more distant then others." Dante was jealous if the mare couldn't remember many memories of her childhood, since his were ones he dreamed of leaving behind forever. "Plus, you don't give yourself enough credit. If you go around being this nice to everyone, I have no doubt that you will create your own circle of family." Dante could imagine it, since Onatah was like an angel in terms of caring about others.

"If I've been any help to you, I'm sure you've returned the favor." Onatah replied gratefully. She wasn't sure how she had helped Dante, but Dante had helped her enormously.
Dante's smile seemed almost forced, as Onatah listened to the conversation that followed. She was almost sure, that he was holding back on her account, and felt a feeling of sadness overcome her. Of course, she was just an acquaintance, and Dante wouldn't confide in her completely. But then again, she wasnt quite telling him everything either.
"Dont worry." With a smile, that didnt quite match her words "I've gotten used to it."
Her words were cut off, as she tried to absorb Dante's words. She had always thought .. family consisted of a blood tie. Or one such as a partner. But never one of relationships..? It would take some time for her to become used to the idea, but if Dante could think that way, perhaps she could also.
Her eyes widening at Dante's description of her, she took a step back. "N..no. Please, you overestimate me. If anything, your the one that is truly amazing. Even through your childhood, your so much more than I could ever believe." She certainly wasn't the amazing one. Dante had been through so much in his childhood, and earlier years and yet he could still be kind, and talk to a complete stranger. There was surely feelings of bitterment, regret, fear, but Dante didnt seem to let it overcome it as others she had seen. That in itself, was amazing.

"Heh, well." He then said, with a light pause. "I will just ramble compliments at you, but you seem to always return them, thus my point from before! You are a very sweet mare, that is both obvious and true. No matter, its not like that's a bad thing." Dante found it funny that she was always so quick to correct him, but that sort of trait made her skittish and cute, and it was also humorous to watch at the same time. Her kindness was too obvious to hide!
But at her other comments, he could only respond as gently as he could. "You know, we all have paths that we live on, and you and I have had different paths. But hey, that doesn't mean that one of us has gone through something tremendous, and the other one hasn't. But, again, I thank you for your compliments." The stallion then lowered his head, since her words were extraordinarily kind. Just because their experiences were so different, that didn't make them that different in the end, and Dante liked that fact as well!
"But anyways, it seems we have drifted into a relm of deep conversation." The stallion was still a bit surprised by that, but it wasn't like he was complaining. Onatah was so easy to talk to, so it was no surprise that they both were able to vent so easily. "I sorta feel bad that I am not one of those stallions who can crack jokes or make someone laugh, but instead I tend to go on these emotional rants." It was sort of embarrassing, when he thought about it!
